Dictator Combo Thread: He rules with an Iron Fist...of Energy!

Hm interesting strings. I only use S.LK, S.HK because it’s easy.

What’s the easiest and most damaging non-Charge combo he can do?

Is there any way to combo into Bison’s ultra besides j.MPx2 and Focus?

Thanks.

When you’re cornered, you can deep backward j.HK and Ultra during the hit stun.

and also use the Devil Reverse but it’s highly spacing dependent.

I’d like to see an example of devil’s reverse into ultra, if there are any out there.

i tried it before, i don’t think it’s possible. the opponent (ryu) drops really low, and starts his fall before you land. it’s possible with skull crusher though, but only in the most unlikely situation ever.

that is the easiest while being the most damaging, because its only two hits :wgrin: there are other two hitters like cr.mp to roundhouse that are actually quite easy to do in real matches once you practice the timing. i think its actually a 2 frame link, the animation for cr.mp being so long is what makes it tough for some.

the feller u quoted had some good ones. None of Bison’s non charge combos are easy imo. sure you can do it in training mode but when it comes to match time the timing is really precise.

anyways here are some:

-jump in whatever, s.jab, s.jab, s.lk, s.rh against some charcters and definitely the large ones.

-cr.mp, s.rh

-cr.mp, s.mk

-cr.jab, s.jab, s.lk, s.rh

Anyways you can just kind of make up your own. cr.mp and s.lk I think are the only things that link to roundhouse. you can just add and build from there. I’ll make some up right now. cr.lk, cr.lk, s.lk, roundhouse. another one could be cr.lk, cr.lp, st.close lp, cr.mp, roundhouse. Roundhouse can link to itself on counterhit against some characters, Gief and Sagat for sure.

Bison is so much more execution oriented than people give him credit for. If we miss that one link then shit, a damage opportunity down the drain and we don’t do much as it is and gotta take what we can get. I’m at a point now where i see a properly spaced zoning cr.mk as a big success.

Great post. Thanks, you’ve been very helpful.

I think I want to experiment with C.MP, S.LK, S.HK to see if it’s possible?

I don’t know how to answer that, but his most damaging non-charge combo is cs.hp, st.lk, st.lk, st. hk, which works on Sagat only AFAIK. Cs.hp, st.lk (1), st.hk on everyone (most) else. Cs.hp, cr.mp, st.hk on counter-hit.

Cs.lp also.

It is possible. What is also possible and makes hitboxes look stupid in this game is cr.lp, cs.lp, cr.mp, st.lk, st.hk and cr.mp, cr.lp/fs.lp/st.lk, st.lk, st.hk on Sagat.

Unless you’re playing against the few characters that have bigger hitboxes, such as Chun-Li, cs.hp, st.lk, cr.mk xx hk.sk/hp.pc is the best punish combo. So hit that shit up at every given opportunity. Cs.hp xx hk.sk if you’re cancelling into Super.

thanks for dropping knowledge on the counter hits, never knew about the cl fiece, cr.mp one.

Is there any vid of bisons working combos?

I’ll shameless link one of my really old combo video

Hi Dictator Crew!

I’ve been maining Dhalsim since release pretty much. I’ve gotten pretty nice with him, but I’m really interested in having a character who can really rush the fuck down. I’ve been focussing on Bison for a bit because I just have fun controlling him. The thing is, my Dictator sucks because I don’t really know the rush down basics – this is my first fighting game and I’ve spent all my time learning a completely defensive character!

So, my question at this point is really basic (er, stupid):

Why change my attack strings?

I’ve learned c.short (x2, x3, x4) xx scissors, and I’ve also learned c.jab, s.jab, c.forward xx scissors. But I’m not too sure when to use one over the other, and WHY I use one over the other. Is it just a matter of mixing things up and presenting your opponent with a more-confusing offense? (Edit: is c.jab, s.jab string used only on jumpins? why not go c.short off the jumpin?)

On a similar note, I watched that B13 video which shows blockstrings like ‘c.short, c.jab, s.short, s.forward’. Is that something I should be using, and, if so, how/why (the strings that end with scissors are safe, so why not just go that route)?

Show me the ropes!

Wrong character. Try the Viper forums.

cr.lk x3 xx sc kick is normally done when you interrupt someone’s block strings with cr.lk, mostly due to option select. cr.lk x3 xx sc kick does kinda crap damage, but it keeps the pressure on.

cr.lp, st.lp, cr.mk xx sc kick is normally done on jump ins (I prefer cr.lp, st.lk, cr.mk xx sc kick). This does more damage than cr.lk x3 xx sc kick above.

But if I’m confirmed getting a combo, of course I’d rather do st.hp xx sc kick for the DAMAGE.

I won’t pretend to be as nearly as good as many of the other people on these boards, but every character I play I play extremely aggressively and I’ve learned a few things:

You’ll want to control the match, especially on a charge character. Allowing them to cross you up can take all of the umph out of your rushdown in a heartbeat, especially considering Dictator doesn’t have really any windfalls like Chunner’s Hazanshu. I don’t know which particular string to use over the other (c.short vs. c.jab/s.jab/c.forward) in any other situation other than your distance from the other person. c.jab>s.jab>c.forward certainly requires you to be closer than using any number of c.shorts. I’d say it’s whatever your more comfortable with executing and whichever one you can do with the most consistency. Although I generally stick to using the c.jab/s.jab string for jumpins (as you mentioned) and c.short or c.forward for pressure strings in the corner.

Just know how most people will react to your different strings, and what characters can punish certain strings (or when they think they can). I’m sure you have a strong poke game coming from Sim, so I’d imagine you’ll be fine knowing how to effectively use s.mk and RH.

edit: yeah, as above I prefer st.hp xx sk when you know you have the opportunity

I’m sorry, I’m confused, are you saying Bison can’t rush down beastly?

and no I’m not trying to pick a fight with you or anything, just want to know what you mean by the above.

i wish 3x cLP, cMK, SK worked more consistently, and didnt glitch on certain characters :frowning:

OMFG! You’re picking a fight! I’m not telling you!! You can stay confused! :looney:
