Dictator Combo Thread: He rules with an Iron Fist...of Energy!

True, it’s unsafe against a dp on block, but then again so is just about every other combo in the game as well.

Just a general question here to all Bison players. Online do you use cr.lk xx lk scissors or do you use the BnB cr.lk (x 3) xx lk scissors.

Just curious as I thought both were very similar damage wise and it’s easier to confirm one crouching light kick to scissors in an online situation.

Thanks.

I always go for the cr. lk x 3.

J.mp follow-ups

Hi everyone,

I’ve been messing with j.mp a lot lately and until tonight I usually did :

**
j.mp x2, EX PC**
dmg : 136 / Stun : 180

j.mp x2, ULTRA
dmg : 458

or

j.mp (only 1st strike) s.RH (reset)
dmg : 170 / Stun : 250

I’ve “discovered” that you can follow j.mp with c.RH for

160 dmg and 250 Stun but also an unteachable Takedown.

Thought it was worth sharing

ah very nice that you can slide to follow that up! thanks.

yeah, jMP > Slide is great, especially when you start dashing afterwards to push em to the corner lol

as for ONLINE, I sometimes do cLK x 3, but sometimes I use cLK > SK. I also bait SRK spamming people by throwing out a cLK then seeing what they do time to time

OFFLINE, cLK x 3 ftw

I’ve been using cross up j.mk, cr.mp,cr.mk, sk.I know the combo is old news but I haven’t seen anyone else use it in a cross up situation or note that if you plink cr. mk with cr.lk not only do you get the extra frame from plinking if by any chance you still miss the cr.mk , cr.lk comes out and links.

this thread is greatly apreciated. question:Everytime i go for short short short scissor kick i get SRK’d before the 3rd c.lk am is it my execution or does srk beat it out?

c.SKx3 can be mashed out of on block. On hit, it’s a combo and cannot be mashed out of so it’s likely your execution (or lag, if online).

Cr. lp, st. lp, st.lk, cr.mk, cancel into hk scissor kick, does this combo always link even when preformed after a Jump in HP, or Mk cross up, or is it situational?

On and about the Crlk X3 combo what so great about it? I can do almost all of Bison combos besides Crlkx3 into SK, tell you the truth I haven’t been motivated into learning how to do it in any given situation, not to mention its not as flashy as M.bison’s other combos. So I would like to exactly know what is so good about it and why is it used so much instead of other combos? (Maybe that will feed my need to learn it lol.)

c.lk x3 is good cuz it’s fast, but it sucks when it’s blocked because it’s not a tight string and can be mashed through

c.lk x 3 is good because it:

a) hits low
b) has the fastest startup for any normal move (3-frames)
c) is +1 on block, so it’s a natural frame trap

It does miserable damage though, and frame traps in sf4 get owned by mash dp.

Cr. lp, st. lp, st.lk, cr.mk xx scissors is very tight on spacing. It depends on how close you land next to the opponent, and therefore how high you hit with it initially. It can’t complete off a crossup j.mk because you’ll whiff either the st.lk or the c.mk.

So, its better then Bison’s Cr lp, or is it in the same boat?

c.LP is 4f startup and you can chain combo it. c.LK is the ideal move against blocked moves with frame disadvantage.

i do cr. shorts because it’s just easy and with bison i feel like i’m never going for the damage i’m going for the knockdown and mindgame and throw follow ups.

i never worry about damage because he doesn’t really have anything does is reliable in terms of damage. all of his combos are decent when it comes to damage.

as for doing 3 cr. shorts… i like to do 1 or 2 mainly because you’re closer to your opponent if you do a scissor afterward… especially if you jump in fierce. cr. short…short scissor. it’s really safe and a lot of people like to throw stuff out(still) after a block scissored even though they should know that bison’s pretty safe.

so normally after 1 cr. short to scissor i throw out another cr. short to scissor and it almost always catches people… despite how old of a tactic it is now(stolen from kuma). or you could even do jump in fierce…cr. short…sh scissor… cr. strong… scissor… i’ve seen that too.

but if you like to do 3 cr. shorts to scissor… it pushes you too far back to throw out cr. short to scissor after the block and when i used to do that i pretty much always got punished… the short’s out of range by then.

hope that helps.

i never got around to really figuring out how to calculate frame data, but chun li’s sweep is -5 on block (we all know how much she loves to use it), can we punish that?

it seems to push away and also hits from quite far. cr. mk is 5 frames startup, so couldn’t you at least counter pressure with this into scissors for some chip and getting in her face? if she does it up close is it possible to just use cr.lk xx scissors for punish?

alright this is just pissing me off. I’m already having a lot of trouble with top level korean sagats here in arcades and online, and this just might be the icing on the broken cake.

ive nearly mastered jump in fierce, cr.mp, cr.mk xx scissors…i can do it consistently in training mode…but when i tried it on sagat the fucking cr.mp wont connect with cr.mk!!! no matter how many times i try. then i switch to ryu and can do it over and over and over again. i dont see how my timing could suddenly be off one second and then absolutely consistent the next…i believe this might be some fucked up character glitch. please someone prove me wrong and do this combo on sagat successfully. if this is a real glitch this just pisses me off to no end.

I am in love with cLP x 3, sLP, cMK -> SK

I catch SOOOO many people with the sLP

Taller characters like Sagat, Zangief, and Seth recover quicker from hit or block stun. In order for the combo to work you need to hit the j.FP deeper or lower. You could try using j.HK since it has a better angle for hitting deeper or lower.

Wait … what? There’s no way that’s true. Stun frames are stun frames, whether it’s Sagat or Sakura.

There may be hitbox issues with Sagat (imagine that ), but I really doubt that he actually recovers more quickly.
