Diablo 3?!

Barb day 1 again. This time, I won’t be dual-whielding Ali Baba’s while not knowing how to properly use the Whirlwind skill.

Yeah, I double posted. HONEY BUNCHES OF OATS WITH ALMONDS+BANANA ASSIST HER I COME!

The upside is that there are no taboo topics or phrases that can be used to delay Blizzard Time.

I think.

Anyway, May 15th yay

I never played TONS of D2, but I did have a Whirlwind Druid and dabbled a bit in WhirlyBarb and Necro. Look forward to playing Monk because Monk. And Witch Doctor, I suppose.

When we last had details on uniques, they came with a 4 predetermined affixes and 2 randomly rolled ones.
Crafted rares come with 6 randomly rolled affixes.

A Jeweler’s Monarch of Deflecting is worth an arm and a leg in D2, and all it is is a magic shield with two specific and perfect affixes. Imagine how much people are going to grind/pay for a shield with six specific and perfect affixes?

I’d bet Blizzard is going to try to skew the game so that uniques are great - but not perfect. And you will want perfect gear.

Game’s going to be about doing cow runs for crafting mats rather than boss runs for rare drops. This levels the playing field for players not using map-hacks (since you’re now interested in killing anything and everyone, instead of just teleporting to the next floor so you can get to the boss) and somewhat hinders the efficiency of botters (bots are less capable of dealing with random).

I had a geared out Fire-orb sorc with a nm act 2 merc geared with infinity, a p vamp gaze, and either a heavy nigma or fort, area dependent.

So broken.

they shouldn’t be. all runes are equivalent to what the rank 4 or 5 rune in the old system. however, the loss of rune ranks is a terrible. ex: magic missle will shoot 3 rather than 7 missles when runes had ranks. poison dart loses it’s machine gun effect. on a side note, in addition to removing the supporting passives for non-melee classes. they gave a 30% passive DR to barb and monk. it looks the developers are discouraging out of class builds.

Blizzard Entertainment.
World of Warcraft.
World Drops.

On the former, that’s more an issue with runes, not how they’re attained.

On the latter, one less thing to grind for is ALWAYS BETTER.

You can never find the D2:CE.
Nobody will ever sell theirs.

Normally I would agree, but in this case it felt like runes was going to be the only way to differentiate yourself, and now that they’re all handed out to everyone as you level, even that is gone. Besides, in a game that is entirely driven by being a loot grind, then it’s not that bad to have something be a loot grind. Even if the runes were all given, but you grinded for rune enhancements or something, I think it’d be better.

Yeah loss of Rune Ranks does suck, that’s what gets me the most. There’s no increase in the rune strength, it’s all or nothing, which seems more limiting. I want to be level 60 flinging 11 magic missiles damn it

Y’all DO realize that they have implemented +skills modifiers into the modifiers pool, right?

Right?

am i thinking of someone else or wasnt it you that was hating on D3 and wasnt going to touch and blizzard this and blizzard sucks, korea, auction, somethingsomething, a couple of months ago? now your playing the beta and such? or was that someone else?

im outi

Roberth

I’m interested to see how it plays out, now that I’ve looked it up. But since theres no skill ranks, how can you have + to skills?

I never dissed Korea.

Not once.

I am not Beta testing their game for them for free.

I am cautiously practical about this being the only viable gaming option to release in next 8 months.

The loss of transparent skill ranks hurts my outlook, but the fact that they have reintroduced skill + gear is what has turned my downpour of pessimism into simply a soft Scottish day.

Online only is still balls.

As are auto-leveled attributes, but if they are engineered in such a way that gear and skills aug them and/or aug off of them, then… I’ll reserve judgement until I see reviews of the way it works in the final build upon release.

I am not buying it day one.

I shall wait and see.

thanks, i did not know. however, i still think too much of the game has been shifted onto items. blizz said players will use runes not skill points for character building in D3. apparently, if you want to build a character using inferno quality runes. players are still dependent on RNG and RMAH, like they were when runes were items, which throws character building right out the window. ugh, i’m definitely going to wait and see what happens to this game and NG3.

Rune quality used to = character power.

+Skill items now = character power.

This seems more in line with D2, especially in the latter days, when I was running around, hurling level 40 (20/20+skills) Fireballs bigger than I was, melting Meph in less time than it took to teleport across his moat.

I wonder if they’ll bring the diablo 2 enigma armor back. Or maybe the cow level

Well we aren’t gonna have an Enigma without sockets or real runes.

Secret Cow Level is a must. They’ll bring it back if they know what’s good for them.

Word on the street is that they’ll be giving us Friendship Is Magic and Rainbows, as a jibe at the mockery of the liberal usage of colours in the earliest demos.

thats how it was in D2 as well. Sure, Diablo himself dropped good stuff occasionally, but the quest itself took fucking forever lol. I remember when all I would do for equipment was Meph runs for low end good stuff, and Pindle runs for high end stuff. Anything else either took too long, or wasn’t practical.

Anywho, I used the Barb the other night. Damn, one hit killing everything was fun lol.
