when the WOW team decided to rip out certain rpg elements out of the game to idiot proof it for the vast majority of vitality poor players they allege got slaughtered by quill rats in D2. the remaining customization better be extraordinary on day one to make up for what was lost.
clearly, they’re not at that point when you consider the pedestrian affixes, lack of special mods, the late changes to DH resources/skills and caster skill functions. missing gems (what happened to diamonds and sapphires?) or exactly how runes will work. late 2012 would be fine with me. i just hope they spend the time working on the game rather than the bugged RMAH.
on a side note, blizz’s counterpart of S-Kill responded to the critisism of the items with the usual PR damage control. at this point in time, the implicit hints at saving content for patches and expansions doesn’t exactly inspire confidence in me on the potential of a high quality of the game on release day.

I get the feeling Blizzard is going to piecemeal it, although these days (especially from them) I’m not surprised. They have a talent for it, there is still 2 more versions of Starcraft 2 to come out. From everything I heard so far, I’m more pissed about the number of gem forms there is. It might indicate how common it is to find them, or how much focus you need for farming. Still interested in the game, just cautious.
some user on TL made an interesting find in the D3 beta. apparently, you can cancel animations. currently, it seems to favor melee rather than casters. it’s a pretty simple process and not even close to what’s required in some FG. in any event, it’s been submitted as a bug report. so, the question is (assuming this is unintentional) will Blizz keep it or nerf it?

So, news of the day from Blizzcon, if you sign up for a 12 month annual pass for WoW and had a WoW account prior to October 18, 2011 you can get a free copy of Diablo 3 when it launches… I signed up, I mean I pay for a WoW subscription anyway no reason for me not to get D3 too right?
what blizzard did was genius, exactly because of this. they are trying to minimize the loss in demand that will happen with wow because of the d3 drop.
i mean you know you are going to be playing d3 non stop and not care about or play wow for a WHILE, why not lock you in so you are still paying like you are playing.

Well I’m still going to play WoW some after D3 drop with church friends so its all win for me.
apparently, Blizz is not only still working on runes. they also working on passives, resources, skills,items etc. i wouldn’t be surprised if this games isn’t released until sometime in the 2nd quarter 2012.
agreed. Blizz is not only still collecting subscription fees. they’ll also profit from WOW users buying and selling on the RMAH.
weird, a lot of that was in the beta, maybe just more prefixes/suffixes?

I think you have be online to play D3…
You definitely can only play online, it’s always on DRM like SC2. Even to play single player you need to be online (because your character is stored server side). But you can still play solo games. Not sure if it’ll have an offline mode or not.
Personally I’m really excited for arena style PVP, like wow only without the shitty wow part factoring in. Hopefully theres not just 1 viable team
