Diablo 3?!

not rly tho

Anyway, whats good with SRKs USWest clan? Anybody down?

Oh god, it really IS impossible to please some people these days. They see two locations and already go into a “omgz itz a cartoon!” mode. Seriously, Sacr3d is right, it HAS to be those WoW Forum morons that sit all day crying that have to be doing this. Has to be.

Any word on how item drops are going to be handled?

What a bunch of fucking idiots. Honestly, I’m a big fan of Diablo and have played it ever since the first days of the original Diablo and I loved the graphics and environment that Blizzard have presented in the WWI.

I hope Blizzard doesn’t pay heed to that moronic petition. Someone should do an opposite petition just to fuck with him.

Oh, and did Kotaku really have to report such a petition? even though the poster isn’t in favor of the petitions idea he did nothing more then make it more notable, ironic.

I would like to say that it looks a LOT like Titan Quest so far. Not that that’s a bad thing…

But this is a comment on a game that won’t be released for at least a year. So uh…yeah, I’ll probably still buy it. And play it way too much.

I guess stuff like this is why nobody likes Kotaku, huh?

i heard its gonna be like guild wars, drops are reserved for each player randomly.

Just restarted D2 LoD. Anyone willing to Grush me to hell?

D3. GET HYPE BABY.

crimzonflame give me a Lod key and i can help u. mine got banned a while ago.

Actually, I think the fanboys are on to something. The art and presentation was a HUGE part of Diablo 1. It lessened with Diablo 2 which was disappointing, but I don’t think it could have been helped since the story became a pursuit over several regions which spanned weeks, if not months. Diablo 1 felt like it could have all happened in one night.

I didn’t have the same sense of anticipation and dread in 2 as I did in 1 either. I think what people are wanting is a game that they want to play with the lights off and get lost in the story. Diablo 1 was good for this; Diablo 2 was not. However, in both cases, they had an art style that was for the most part independent of any other.

I watched the game play trailer again and for a while, all I could think was how much the game looked like warcraft 3. It doesn’t really matter because I’ll buy and play this game anyway, but a lot of these people are yearning for the feeling that only the previous Diablo games could provide. I mean phat lewt and slot machines are great and all, but I would like to be able to easily play the game through the first time without worrying about getting the best gear possible and to just enjoy the ride.

Have you checked out the SFHD or the SF4 forums lately?

edit: On the topic, I might pick this up if I have a lot of free time in the future. I briefly, briefly played D2 before growing weary of it.

A washed out color scheme and less lighting are not qualities I am interested in with Diablo 3. I find it amusing that people are so unappreciative of all the small touches put into the game based on the trailer we’ve seen so far. Such as the shadows flitting about, the ghouls running up the sides of the walls from the darkness below, zombies getting cut in half and still pulling themselves across to attack you on their hands, the gigantic thing rampaging through the depths below as you traverse through the dungeon to the surface.

The fact that you can observe and enjoy those graphical touches thanks to the color scheme and lighting makes the game better, not worse, and if you really are so desperate for a game that hearkens back to the days of DOS graphics, adjust your gamma settings and have fun straining your eyes to see what’s happening on your screen. That way, your nostalgia can be blinding in more ways than just one.

I just reinstalled D2

I’m so pathetic

I think people are once again whining over things that are IMO not that important. some people complain about the color and look…as what was said in the panel at the WWI summit they knew that the other games DID have moments of highly saturated color and environments. it’s not like things can’t be changed around. But why does it HAVE to be dark and brown? that’s boring…and I approve of how it looks. we only have had a minor glimpse of what the game can do…expect those gothic/dark moments to appear in some act.

so long as the game retains the Action RPG feel I love I will be happy. crosses fingers for the return of the Druid

Because… it’s Diablo, you twit.

I hope the Witch Doctor doesn’t kill the chances of the Necromancer returning.

excuse me? have you LOOKED at the game!? you do realize there’s a LOT of bright colors and variety of spots that AREN’T grim/dark you know…

diablo 2 is gonna get a huge spike in players in the upcoming months. time to dig up my old cds

With d3 only having 5 classes to begin with, things aren’t looking good for the Necromancer…

Which one? You do realize that you asked why Diablo (3, I’m assuming) has to be dark and “brown” and I answered that is because that is what Diablo is (or at least has been).

The gameplay trailer looks like a custom warcraft 3 map with some custom skins and that is lameness.
