I think also Guy’s matchup will be very difficult.
His jump can be cancelled anytime with d.mp (an air elbow), and that will be difficult to zone
Yeah I’ve played a couple real good Guys, and he is a problem. That Bushin flip throw or whatever does crazy damage and grabs you out of EVERYTHING. He is crazy fast and has a nice mixup game. A good Adon is tough too.
With Adon b.mp stuffs his bounce off wall kick, and the timing is really easy. I think a few of his moves could be U2 punishable too.
B.hk also stuffs that move clean. It really feels like Sim’s knee has been buffed a bit too, I’m hitting it more cleanly overall and getting a lot less trades. But for Adon, it’s just his frantic style and awkward moves that are messing with me. I never played any of the Alpha games, so the guys who really know how to use him from there have a clear advantage over me right now.
Yoga shangrila is REALLY good against stuff like demon flips, Rufus dive kicks and Adon wall dives. Even though its not an air grab, when timed right it acts kinda like a trip guard on those moves recoveries. Opponent is still coming down in the air and Sim will grab 'em.
Shouts to the Sims I’ve seen on the SSF4 leaderboards from SRK!
- Playing to W1n
- Satyamdas
- Adnan NYC
represent, sons!
It’s good but need training.
Vs Akuma you’ve to perform at the last frame possible, or you’ll be hit by a delayed flip.
Vs Rufus, don’t seems work well.
I don’t know about your friend but my friend plays an extremely turtle Vega in SF4. Once he gets a life lead he can sit in that corner and take a nap. Dhalsim has NOTHING in SF4 that can break that turtle. If you try poking him at a distance, he’ll flip out of it or counter with EX cross-screen knee (whatever it’s called) on frame advantage, if you decide to get closer, he’ll beat you at mid-range with his pokes. Any closer than that he’ll run/jump to the other corner with EX moves and off-the-walls. BnBs get flipped out from.
Literally, sits in that corner until time expires. Nothing I can do. It’s like you’re not even playing SF4 any more.
Any idea if drills in SSF4 can put enough pressure on Vega? If IAT Yoga Shangri-la can take out missed Flying Barcelonas? Can the faster focuses deal with Vega’s already fast pokes?
I can vouch for Lollaff’s friend… He is a good vega… And I still think the match is in Dhalsims favour… Just don’t let vega get the lead…
Any time you see vega whiff barcelonas or you slide under it, the recovery should be long enough to u2
Other characters can do that too; blanka, honda, boxer, and probably a few others. Everything you can do is punishable. You’ll eventually have to take a risk with IAT and hope that it hits him hard.
IMO if you’re only legitimate hope of doing significant damage against a turtle is IAT, you’re fucked. Once you play a person enough times they’ll find ways out of it (no matter how well you try to mix it up). Especially if that character has a get out of jail free card like Vega’s flip.
Oh well, I guess that’s what alts are for.
Giive me your friend’s tag.
I was absolutely destroyed by an Akuma in Endless Battle today. I haven’t seen too many guys with this kind of precision in execution - FADCs, blockstrings, Demon Flip shenanigans were all in full flight. I don’t know if this is new for Super, and as an Akuma player it seems different to me, but it looks like his throw range has been improved, or he has some new Kara throw involving cr. mp. I swear I lost numerous matches due to that single move; I had him zoned out for a few rounds, but when you lose that much life on an unexpected throw it creates an uphill battle. Perhaps this is something to investigate.
Dhalsim vs Juri: FIGHT! I am beginning to hate this cow. She reaction dive kick to fireballs and her wheel kick sucks up limbs like a blender, what can do batman?
So what are your preliminary impressions on the new characters so far now that we’ve all been playing for a few days?
Here’s my scrubby analysis, gathered from shady, scrubby online matches (so take it with a huge grain of Morton’s salt because most of it is probably not even valid!). It’s just my personal opinions, coming from an intermediate level player:
**Adon:
**
Haven’t fought many of them. I actually played about 3 matches against SRK’s Sabre in Endless Battle and he was using Adon, but I beat him twice with Sim. I feel it’s in Sim’s favor. His command wall dive can be a pain, but other than that he doesn’t seem to have enough tools to get in and his up-close game doesn’t feel too dangerous either. Again, I know almost nothing about this match-up, so I could be completely wrong.
Hakan:
Haven’t fought many of them either, except from a guy called Kobold Heretic whom I often run into in Ranked. He is a Hakan only player. When not oiled, Hakan seems completely helpless against Dhalsim. His only hope is to get a knock-down with his command slide, follow-up and then oil up. Once he’s oiled up, he becomes much more dangerous and can command slide on reaction and then mix you up on wake up with his insane reach on grabs. But the slide is hugely unsafe and without it it’s basically impossible for Hakan to ever oil up against Dhalsim, and without doing so, he’s screwed. I feel this is in Sim’s favor, but again, who knows?
Juri
Finally fought a Juri player who knew what he was doing. He beat me pretty easily. Her dive kick is a bitch. It makes AAing her basically impossible, though neutral jump strong is useful at stuffing her jump-ins before she activates the dive kick.
The way she can pressure Sim at close range with her lk wheelkick is insane. It usually beats b. lk and b. mk pretty handily.
This match-up is gonna be a bitch.
Cody
Haven’t fought a single Cody in Ranked. Odd but true. So I have no idea about this match-up.
Guy
Really annoying match-up. He feels almost like a mix between El Fuerte and Cammy. He has a command air grab with insane reach, and it feels like Cammy’s EX hooligan throw on steroids. It also does insane damage and he can use it to get in your face really quickly. (EDIT: I was goofing around in training mode trying to figure out my options against the command air throw and I discovered that, unlike Cammy, Guy can’t grab you out of the ground. Only if you are in an airborne state -including backdash). He can hit confirm into many target combos off cr. jab. His slide is also really fast and he can beat instant overhead fierce with EX tatsu for huge damage. He is really popular online too. He seems very scrub friendly; he’s fast and can do a ton of damage. He has a retardedly good focus attack. I don’t understand why this character has 1000 points of stamina.
T. Hawk
Hard match-up. He’s like a Zangief that can’t be zoned. Condor Dive (the horizontal one?) is **neutral ** on block, and he can do a bunch of stuff to hurt you afterwards. His air dive is highly unsafe though, but I haven’t found a way to punish for big damage. Maybe IA Shangri-la?
Dee Jay
Feel similar to fighting Guile, but his Air Slash is nowhere near as good as Sonic Boom, specially the Ex version. He seems to be pretty straight forward and I haven’t lost to one yet. Zoning him is not difficult so far, though his slide is dangerous. His crossup game could be a problem.
Dudley
Haven’t fought a good one yet. He’s easier to zone than I though it would be. His duck forward is easily stuffed with st. lk. This could be a good match-up for Sim. His j. mp is almost identical to Sagat’s and beats all of Sim’s AA’s if properly spaced , including Super. If he gets Sim to the corner it can get real ugly for him though.
**
Ibuki**
Haven’t fought many of them yet. Like Akuma, she can alter her jump arc and timing with the air kunai making b. hk and b. mp unsuitable AAs, but st. mk and jump mp all seem to work well. Once people learn her mixups she will potentially be very dangerous.
Makoto
She can U2 on reaction from full screen away to punish fireballs / st. fierce. Her dash is amazing and her low, short jump makes it hard to AA her. She does a ton of damage and can really rape Sim once she gets a knock down. Feels like a difficult match-up.
I played a couple long sets against a friend who is picking up Makoto. It’s one of those matchups where you need to totally change your poking strategy.
Basically never do a standing fierce unless you know it is going to hit. Her dash goes way too far too quickly, she can focus dash through it and basically be in your face. Low far strong, standing short, and standing strong/forward become your best friends. She seems like she has a hard time dealing with Sim’s low far strong/jab ( <3 damage buffs), but maybe my friend was retarded.
Also, throw beats her ex command grab if you smell one coming. Short slide > super is also awesome in this matchup.
Dictator is fucked up, now.
As in… His new ultra and priority fuck Sim.
Does anyone know if Dic does U2… Can Sim Shangrila on reaction and own him?
Dic isn’t going to just throw the U2 out there, so it doesn’t really matter… What I can tell you is that if you fireball he’ll hit it…
