Against random buttslams just FA and punish. Meaty kara-mixups, just teleport behind.
Buttslams are nothing compared to dive kicks.
Thanks konkrete!
Maybe my timing is off, but I got nailed by the second hit of the meaty kara ex-slam after a back teleport.
Need to try this in practice mode later.
watch out for reversal butt slams tough, since they focus break. the hondas I play almost only does reversals so that I can’t FA them
whats the timing of reversal butslam?
I’ve been playing quite a few solid boxers lately. I use to fear them, but now I don’t at all. Here’s a few things that I’ve learned.
- Patience and defense. If you don’t have patience you’re going to lose this match.
- Let boxer make the first move. You don’t want to get head butted right away and let him be standing over you on wakeup. See #1
- Boxer without meter = your bitch. s.FP, s.MK, s.MP, LP Yoga Fire, and s.HK will be pretty much all you need to keep him out. Don’t just keep attacking, put pauses in between moves so that he can’t start smashing your limbs easily with his normals.
- Once he gets meter he’ll probably be pissed. If he tries to EX rush you just throw him out of it. If you can’t throw a boxer out of EX rush 90% of the time from half screen you need to go to training mode and practice. If you can’t do this you’ll lose the match. Boxer needs to fear using this on you.
- If boxer gets close you may feel like jamming b.lk, b.mk to get yourself some space… Don’t. You want to use these normals but you have to be smart about it… Reactant. One of the best “Mixups” you can do in this situation is to not attack when they think you’re going to attack, otherwise you’re going to be headbutted into ultra. LK slide into yoga fire is decent (d.lk, down forward, forward, lp) and mostly safe. If he jumps into you just beef knee him and stand your ground or slide under him and teleport away, depending on the situation. If he headbutts just b.mk -> yoga fire and teleport out.
- If you have a super he needs to fear you. lk slide -> super is very handy and very hard to defend if you’re on the offensive, if you can’t do it reliably then it’s training mode time. Something that’s always fun is if you have boxer at a distance and he has meter. You can do you normal schenanigans (s.fp mostly) until he is charging. Then just wait. He could a) walk towardrs you again and eat more pokes, b) ex dash punch. You see that bad boy coming and it’s super city.
You really need to be comfortable defending in the corner. Don’t tech the throw unless they’re running up to you to throw you. Do it on reaction only. Block high and low and remember that they mostly expect you not to block high. You can stuff a throw attempt with a d.lk into b.mk -> yoga flame, or lk slide into super. When you get rash and start attacking like crazy… that’s when you can expect headbutt into ultra…
Also, kids… Don’t ultra when you’re in the corner. If you ultra to drive boxer away… He gets a free charge. He can start charging on reaction and headbutt through your ultra and start his own…
In general don’t do anything that COULD get you hurt. Just be patient and let them make the mistakes. Intelligently poke back when you’re in the corner. If you’re getting stuffed you’re doing it wrong. If you get out of the corner you’re at the advantage. Taking 30% of your life in chip damage isn’t a big.
Been using dhalsim as my main for awhile now.
noticed you have blanka at 6-4 sim…
i have serious problems with blanka am i the only one?
main issue is when they turtle, if i can win the original exchange then im usually okay but otherwise i find him hard to him.
there’s a whole thread about blanka. check it out.
also: TOWER
Against Bison, you can punish blocked ex-scissors with b.rh, the timing is strict though. Just tested it in training mode. Doesn’t seem to work with light scissors. Tried it with turbo on, so if it does work, the window where it’s possible to punish is very small, so small that the turbo can’t consistenly get it through in it.
also tried with b.short and b.forward, none seem to be possible to punish regular light scissors with.
just take the block damage and then b-short, usually will beat out bisons next short since i think its 3 frames.
Ok, this Blanka-ball thing is starting to confuse me. I just did a match where I could tower the ex-ball again, but that seems to be an exception rather than the rule. Is anyone familiar with the circumstances for a successful tower for that?
What’s the point of towering the ex ball? when he hits you he’s going to get punished anyway and he’s using up an ex meter. Instead of standing there towering hoping that he’s going to ex ball why not just continue poking and shooting fireballs. If he happens to ex ball you at a time that you can’t block, so be it. You can s.fp after hit every time.
anyone know any good AA vs sagat jump medium punch?
I seriously tried everything…
slide is not so bad but you cant abuse it…
these are some interesting theories. can i find someone out there willing to try their hand at putting their sim up against my gief?
If it’s real close, you can hook-arm it. If Sagat is jumping from about max range, you can s.RH (not knee!) it. Pretty sure you can also beat it at some ranges with d.b+strong/fierce.
I usually just use b.rh. It trades every time, and I think it’s in my favor
Ex yoga blast?
what do you guys do against blanka who does an ultra when you are down. since you have to guess which way to block.
I have no idea what to do against it.
You…guess.
It’s a straight up 50/50.
to be fair it’s not a 50/50, it’s either left or right depending on when he starts. Watch his hands on the floor relative to your feet as he does his start up animation for a clue.
At first though, until you learn it, it is 50/50.
