Dhalsim's Matchups

Hi Sims this won’t take a minute.
I have a few survey questions for Sakura Forums Research.
WE are keen to know the opinions of the vs Sakura match up across the character forums.

My personal experience has been about 6-4 in Sim’s favor, maybe slightly better. Then again I’ve only run into one or two players that I would consider above average.

Rushdown Sakuras are the only ones that give me issues. She may be a decent turtler against most, but that doesn’t work too well against Sim.

When I get beat badly, the Sak is using a healthy comboiation of rushdown: mixups, resets, and FA’s. If she’s not applying pressure she’ll usually get picked apart from afar.

Thanks man! This is a great help as we really didn’t have anything on Sim! I’ll get this info back to our forums promtly for discussion.

What about Fei-Long ? Sim seems (ahah) an easy match-up for me most of the time.

I’d love to get more matchup experience against Fei Long. I think fewer people play with him than Sim. The elusive characters are often the toughest to beat, out of sheer lack of experience with the matchup.

Then you should be good.

Well, I personally think Sim has advantage in the Fei matchup. Fei Long still has the same old problems approaching fireball characters (b.RH eats up any of his air moves, including Chicken Wing). And when he does get in, his damage isn’t that big. Just going on my experience, I’d call it 6-4 Sim. All fundamentals.

Fei’s poke confirms into rekka can be monstrous. And his ability to focus and release on reaction to long pokes in killer. I play against a very strong Fei Long player on occasion and I can tell that he’s still an undeveloped character.

^this, Against a Fei Long that knows the match up, I would call it a 5-5. I train with a very skilled Fei Long and its a bitch to fight. like Shawn said, poke confirm BnB rekka combos are killer because they pushes you so far across the screen, most likely into the corner and Fei mix up game can be scarey.

at first when playing this matchup I really believed it was in fei’s favour, but I now think it’s more like 5-5

when he has 1 ex stocked there’s a big portion of the screen you aren’t allowed to throw fireballs since he can ex CW on reaction to them, leading to combo. random CWs can be yoga knee’d (but the timing is quite hard) and you can often slide under them. blocking a CW isn’t that big a deal either, fei’s throw range sucks so it’s easy to tech if he tries that. other than blocking and teching in that situation back dash is a good idea since fei doesn’t have too god options against it (he kinda has to predict i to punish it).

second rekka can be punished with reversal super. this is nice!

you’ll have to be good at handling close range FAs in this fight. b.mk x hp.fire is good, and doing b.mk just outside of it’s own range is also great when fei is closer, it can stuff lots of his moves.

otherwise it’s mostly like a lot of other semifast rushdown characters, just zone with a lot of st.mk

I personally find the Rufus matchup to be really easy. Just use a shitload of s.HK. And I mean a lot pre-emptively. Rufus is such a fat-ass that it stuffs everything he has. He can’t jump on it, and Rufus loves to jump to divekick real quick to get in. It also stuffs jesus kick and everything else. I find it completely abusable and don’t think he has a way to punish it. Anyone else use this?

I think most people know, by now, that s.hk is a good weapon against Rufus. He’s still, imo, the toughest character to beat for Sim. You must either be facing noob Rufus’ or your Sim is godlike if you think it’s a “really easy” match.

If you can explain how Rufus gets in on Sim it would help. I find him to be the easiest character to zone. I just use like 70% s.HK, 20% s.HP, and 10% yoga fire. All I do is make him just sit down blocking by throwing out s.HK’s, then push him back with s.HP, and throw out a fire to make him have to do something. I either follow the fire with s.HK or s.HP. How does he get through your zoning?

dive kick beats s.hk at a certain distance. He can use ex jesuskick. I think galactic tornado beats s.hp aswell, and once he gets a knockdown this is just slightly worse than vs Gief

When you actually play a decently good Rufus player. You’ll understand why this match-up is a bitch.

I’ve never seen dive kick beat it, and I don’t think anyone is going to be able a beat a s.HP with a galactic tornado on reaction. Any character can beat s.HP with an FA but it’s too hard to do on reaction.

This is probably true but I still don’t understand how he gets in.

You must be playing truly awful Rufuses. He can get in with dive kicks when out of range of s.RH and normal tactics (FA, Messiah kick) to get in your face. Then it’s GG.

rufus beats sim 10-0 you heard it here first

If he is that far out of your range doing one dive kick isn’t going to get him far in. All characters have FA you can’t complain about it just for rufus. Remember only EX messiah beats s.HK and you can use the slide trick to punish it in block.

Well, this guy is just too good.
