Dhalsim - YOGUH!

Hey Jiggly, I like your Chun Li = Noob signature. That’s funny man. I respect guys like Voltech but I’m tired of fighting these Chuns that spam LK, MP, throw etc. Ughhhh…

The only Chun I like fighting is skankin garbage. He’s a really cool guy and his Chun doesn’t always run away. I hate Chun. Even though Hawk has the advantage against her, I still don’t like her. She’s just so… “HAHA I HIT JOO N NAO I RUNN A4WY 1337”. Its probably a scrub way of talking about her, but I just cannot stand chasing her and playing tag all day.

Oh believe me, I know. It has taken me a LOT of hours playing against Honda to get some of these strats down. I’ve also been fortunate enough to have done some very focused training against Honda. For example, Megaman came over one night and we went into training mode for almost an hour and I had him do various butt-slams against me at different spacings and such so I could figure out what moves beat what. And even after I figured out what beat what, it still took me a long time to be able to do any of it somewhat consistently in a match. Hell, I still screw these things up from time to time.

This match definitely requires some finesse. When Honda’s not at full screen, he has so many options. It can be really tough to pick the right move at the right time during all this frantic action. My advice is to not try to put all these tips into practice at once. Instead, just focus on one or two aspects. I actually wrote a post about that a while back. Here it is. So, for example, maybe just practice on getting good at using down-back LP to stop all his torpedo/super attempts for a while. Or maybe focus on not throwing fireballs from mid range, or using the various attacks, like back + MK, to stop mid range jump-ins better. Once you get better at one aspect, move on to another. Eventually, you’ll get it all down.

That’d be really cool man. Not sure how the lag will be, since you’re in the midwest. But I’m sure it’d be good practice either way. My schedule varies a lot, so send me a PM or msg on XBL and let me know what times are good for you and Ill let ya know when that works for me.

Oh yeah? Well I talked to Chun the other day and she says she hates you too! J/K. :bgrin: But seriously, Hawk is a rough match for her and hit and run is kind of her style in a lot of matches. Another really good Chun, possibly the best IMO, is MongoloRobokop. He’s a cool guy and his Chun is a total slut. If any of you guys want practice against Chun and see him on, play him.

That’s thing though. I like playing Street Fighter, not tag.

Weird, I would think that someone who enjoys fighting turtles would have no significant objection to fighting a hit-and-run player.

shrug

Yeah if you’re playing as any grappler expect pretty much EVERY character you play against to try and keep the hell away from you. If you don’t like playing that way find a different character.

Also for those of you on ggpo if you ever see bcchoi on spectate him, his Sim is very precise and you will learn a lot in the disadvantageous matchups. He also knows exactly which move to do and at what spacing he can do certain ones.

No, I don’t mind chasing down my opponent, its just all I seem to do with Chun with anybody I use, not Hawk. Whether it be with Bison, Dhalsim, or Ryu its all I really do in that fight. I don’t mind hit and run (I do it it too), but Chun takes it to an extreme.

Edit: BTW, there’s a HUGE difference between playing keep-away and run-away Grog.

Sweet games last night SweetJV…it was nice watching you take down my brothers Honda since I play thousands of matches with him and probably only win about 10% of them. Going to go over your guide in detail and see if I can start turning the tables on him. Thanks for the Sim MM as well!

Yeah, ggs man. I’m always happy to beat up Hondas :wgrin:

can Sim’s medium punch uppercut counter honda’s butt slam?

Yep, but you kind of have to line it up right. Standing MP has a very thin hitbox.

I think he actually gets off on it a little bit actually. :wgrin:

Fixed! :bgrin:

Yeah, I have actually seen it in person… very messy… took me a week to clean my place!

Lol, I know how SJV feels. I get off on beating Guile players with Hawk.

Btw, I officially think Dhalsim is my third. He’s just too much fun and its soo awesome being creative with him.

I need some serious advanced help fighting against Balrog. Against beginners and even intermediate players I can do pretty well with using fireballs and punishing them if they try to headbutt or jump over fireballs. Unfortunately though against advanced players this doesnt work to well because I never get the opportunity to zone them. I have tried looking at supposedly advanced players and no offense but I dont think the Balrogs are that good that were playing against the Sim I was looking at.

My biggest problem with this fight is I am throwing random pokes hoping they connect and I am just gettting punished by dash punches. Also it seems that all trade hits are in Balrog favor. There has to be a way to know and counter the dash punches. I even punched Balrog out of his super once.

And I possibly have 3 of best Balrog players on my friends list and I will continue playing them but right now I am still getting destroyed. I had one match today where I was two hits from a perfect and end up losing the match. It seems once Balrog got in I had no answer.

Anyhow there has to be a sign or sound or something when Balrog does his dashes that allows it to be countered. I am thinking his punches are faster than Honda’s headbutt because I can hit Honda out of it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you consistent with your Super yet?

???

My Dhalsim is decent, and I love this matchup. For normals I prefer cr.Forward or far Forward in anticipation of Boxer’s Rushes. But you should be keeping him out with Yoga Fires primarily.

Okay I know there are quite a few Sim players. Someone has to know how to handle this fight. Just telling me to throw out cr. forward or standing forward is not good enough nor a real strategy for fighting a bulldog balrog. Also I understand that zoning him out with fireballs will slow him down temporarily but the fight is not that easy to do that all the time. I’m playing high level balrogs that are coming with one attack after another.
