Dexter - Season 6 (Renewed, Recharged, Refocused)

I still liked the season. If nothing else, Michael C. Hall has done his best Dexter this season. Very good acting. There wasn’t enough action for the simps though. Perceived gaffes could be left over for next season. What happens between Deb and Dexter could go anywhere. Particularly because this show is supposed to end in two seasons. Dexter could become her sex slave, Dexter could become a fugitive, etc. That’s be pretty interesting for next season. Dexter is now a fugitive but he has to do his own detective work to protect Deb/Harrison from Louis.

I’m pretty sure it won’t though. Deb’s feelings will grow larger as she looks at him as more of a guardian figure having killed numerous dangerous people. Including the man that tried to kill her, Dex’s brother.

dude, wanting consistent, competent writing on a show that had some really great seasons isn’t unrealistic. we’re all fans here, but forgiving writers for being inept does nothing except show everybody how much of a spineless dork you are.

Let’s not forget their dad off’d himself, Deb is much more of an emotional train wreck, she may let it slip infront of Quinn, and Dex will have to kill Quinn lol

masuka’s words of wisdom dissagree

Wow, that last episode started really bad, then went back to just silly. I was laughing a lot during this. It’s like they wanna cram material for 5 episodes into one or something, so every problem is dealt with in like, 2 scenes so they can move on to the next one.

[details=Spoiler]The ending was alright, but really: You got a crime scene, the killer’s former hangout no less, and you’re just gonna send one “lab geek” to give it a last comb over with not even one officer to stand guard or something?

Also, I’m sure Harrison will be completely fine mentally after having some creepy guy holding a sword to his neck and threatening his life in front of his dad, right?

Nobody heard Dexter smashing in the wall with a hammer inside the house? Why the fuck were they waiting for him anyway? They’ve never done that before. They shouldn’t have done that whole painting gag in the first place, because it was stupid, but it also didn’t lead anywhere, except explain that Travis had been there, which could have been done in another way. Like having the painting just as it was, without that stupid Dexter face on it.

How did Batista’s sister not hear Travis come in? Also, is it just me, or is the layout of Dexter’s apartment really confusing? Since when is there a second door? Since when was the living room not right next to the kitchen?

Masuka doing Yoda. Fuck.[/details]

Yeah, I was wrong. Deviating from the killer friend formula didn’t turn out so well for this season. Too bad, cuz I liked the idea of a villian w/ a dark passenger.

I can’t image how bad the next two seasons are going to be.

they should just say fuck it and bring back Doakes

finale synopsis from another forum which i am still laughing at

[details=Spoiler] Dexter survived the Lake of Fire tableau by hopping onto a tugboat full of Cuban immigrants, murdering a pirate, then swimming ashore. Later on, he arrived at that crime scene where Travis had murdered the elderly couple and painted an enormous mural of Dexter on their living room wall. In an outrageously dumb moment, no detectives or uniformed police officers had even entered the living room, which gave Dexter a good ten minutes to literally deface the mural with a hammer, which apparently one can do without making any noise. Meanwhile Travis busted into Dexter’s house, tried on one of his shirts (which don’t look as good on Colin Hanks, FYI), discovered Dexter had a son, and then conspired to kidnap him. Which he did later on during a Noah’s Arc themed pageant while conveniently never noticing that Dexter was still alive. Travis then brought Harrison atop a skyscraper in time for a solar eclipse, Dexter found them, and Travis made Dexter inject himself with a syringe, but Dexter faked it and then punched Travis out. Then apparently Dexter carried a grown man to his car in broad daylight.

Who pays these writers?
[/details]

they should bring back his twin brother. played by him.

yeah these writers are on crack. things dont make much sense now a days.

She told him to handle the scene before she decided to tell him.

Sent using my Evo…not the 3D ish…eff 3D!

I liked the way the season finale ended, but…

Got a little thrown off here…

[details=Spoiler] I was totally off on a lot of things which caught me by surprise. The writers did do what I expected them to do insofar as going through the motions, but the way they did it was so… unusual.

First off, the defacing of the tableau. I thought that this was going to be the way that Deb would find out, and it would’ve been much better drama if the LIEUTENANT saw the scene first, realized that it was Dexter, and defaced it herself whilst Dexter was none the wiser. It would add to her mixed feelings and the attraction, while creating a role reversal next season where Deb is protecting her brother (and future lover) for once.

The final scene made sense in the context that Dexter wasn’t extremely careful for the past 2 seasons, but it was still pretty dumb to even take the chance just for the sake of symbolism and ambient gratification. It’s like masturbating to porn on the family big screen tv with the volume on max before your parents even left the driveway.

That said, the climactic ending is a perfect way to bring back viewers, even the ones that were disappointed with this season (I’m not one of them). I think they have a lot of potentiality in the scenario they’ve created, and I think it will be very entertaining[/details]

Shoutouts to NetRangler! Making google look like a bottom bitch.

and dex sending the video message is explained by him knowing Travis wont turn it in cuz it would implicate both of them.
[/Quote]

That’s not the real issue, the main problem is that even if Travis is caught they would be looking at everything he has on his person to locate Gellar. So if Travis was murdered by Dex in a fashion where his body couldn’t be immediately recovered or he was apprehended/killed by Miami PD, there’s a potential loose end which would screw Dexter.

No doubt. It might get a little dicey especially with the events that transpired at the end.

I must admit, Deb acting more vulnerable and stuff made me oddly attracted to her in the latter half of this season.

Yea but dexter wasnt thinking in terms of “in case he gets away i shouldnt do this” he was thinking i got this psycho nerdy fucktard, and actually verbalized it twice that he was trying to lead Hanks Jr. to the slice of life. If it went according to plan he’d’ve killed Hanks Jr took the phone and itd be clean kill.
Anyway, agreed on the ending of this season is done in order to cement viewership of at least next season even for the fans who were turned off by the quick writing…
But since everyone’s in a fuck the writers moment, how about the fact that masuka is the lead forensics lab geek and he didnt go in first, or, how the hell did Hanks Jr. know where Harrison’s school was, and how that damn cop on the roof didnt radio for weird little kid in a lion suit on the roof. Oh and wtf happened to Harry in all of this biggest of all though is they didnt use fucking Jaime Escalante to his full potential imo… there’s a lot of shit if you look hard enough. But im sure we look hard enough we’ll find em in every episode in all seasons.

Oh if u used the sharp side of the hammer to pick at the tableau instead of hammer away im sure it’d make less noise and it wasnt a huge piece he hammered out just chunks. Again, look hard enough and you’ll find an explanation too. It becomes shit writing when nothing can explain it without stretching to some farfetched bs.

Up side for this season though:
Before bautista/quinn gaymance drama was cool seeing them smoke a joint
Still the season had quoteables: “bukkake bukkakay”, “i’ll throw you a couple (paraphrase) to keep your dick wet”, “i am a father a son and a serial killer”, “oh god”, “hello whore”,
any form of deb cursing at the wrong time and entertaining talking to Hanks Jr. about god’s plan is being on dex’s kill table and balancing light and dark.

Dialogue for dex when its on par, is usually another part of the show that deserves big credit. So here’s hoping the writers carefully execute these next 2 seasons… shit take it one at a time, if they have to. This season was on the low end of quality, no doubt but they set themselves up well, gotta give credit where credits due. i like laguerta’s whorish bitchy cutthroat character as opposed to love story with her and bautista,

“the moments” were still there, just the follow up sucked. Rudy after Dex choked brother sams murderer, four horseman was a dope scene, blood bath was tight, ice truck killer hand, and quinn finding out he boned that strippers mom.

The style and humor is still there, with extra effort the writing can come back too, it’s the all of those things that kept dexter a tight show.

Biggest hope for next season is i hope she forces deb to do some lesbo acts in order to keep dex innocent and free. keep on owning them for free laguerta and bring back latina cop grab the psychiatrist and have a party at debs new place. more masuka lines pls, dont fuck up louis as the next big bad make him crazy smart and careful, it’d be nice to see a doakes ghost lundy ghost since bay harbor butcher’ll be back in play shit an arthur ghost would be crazy. then give dex a proton pack and hunt them down again. whatever it is 10 months is a long time they’d better use it and not just over the summer writing bullshit.

and getting off on deb’s vulnerability, nah that’s ur dark passenger getting off on deb’s bro/sis love with dex. lol just playin

i really thought debs head was going to explode when she saw dexter kill travis.

also the video dexter sent to travis was SO dumb. if i were travis…

checks phone cause of alert. sees dexter

"OH DIS DUDE CRAZY!!! YO CAT!!! CHECK THIS!!! BOUT TO PUT THIS DUDE ON BLAST!!!

uploads video to web

dexter facepalms

EDIT: i found a home. =3

hands up if you googled netrangler :razzy:

Still a hole. There’s no way he could know if the plan would work the way he wanted (which it didn’t) and no way he’d know if Travis would have his phone with him. That kind of overconfidence is something Dexter didn’t have before, his careful approach and meticulous personality is what drew me into the series at first. Now he just seems like a slightly more capable Miguel Prado, with a fraction of the ego.

I really wanted to see Harry and Gellar have an epic fist fight, that would’ve been the highlight of the season… no, the series!

Harry : Dexter, What is the number one rule?
Dexter : Don’t get caught?
Harry: No, send the most wanted man in Miami a video.

I’m still ready to punch a TV over that. Seriously, the ONLY reason we have for Travis not putting that video up is him being crazy. Even if putting the vid up on his blog would be bad for Travis somehow, it’d be doubly bad for Dexter, since Dex would have to explain the general “I’m going to kill you” tone of the video and why he’d send a video in the first place.
These writers are losing their step and it’s sad to see.

Too many plot holes this season. Dexter did so many things where you would blatantly be caught, even more so than in previous seasons.

Haha…and that’s just the worst one.

Colin Hank’s role of the apprentice worked out well enough for him, but once the twist came, he was thoroughly out of his element.

Spoiler

No exploration on Colin Hank’s character after he “realizes” Geller is dead and he doesn’t need him, AND that he killed his own sister and branded her as a whore after supposively caring for her? Real. Also, called the whole Deb/Dex thing back in like…Season 2.

Let’s find ways Dexter could be awesome again

[details=Spoiler]Debra finds she really gets off watching Dexter stab people in the heart, so she comes with him for his next kills, dressing him up in a gimp outfit, with a ball gag, touching herself as he stabs people. Harry will be feeling up Debra, but he will be staring at Dexter.
Dexter will still give his “Look at what you’ve done” speeches, but while wearing the ball gag. This will make those speeches even more terrifying for his victims, and more hilarious for us.

Also, was Debra feeling sick inside the church like, a premonition? Like her midichlorians told her about what she was gonna see there or something? Wtf?[/details]

 but you bring up a decent subject. What do you guys think (for real) would make this show awesome again? The last minutes of this season give me hope, but I realize that we’ll be dealing with the fallout here for two seasons. How the hell can you stretch that over two seasons?

I’m asking because I don’t know what I really want them to do. Just what I *don’t *want them to do.

Since this is going off stuff that recently happened, I’ll tag it:

Spoiler

-Don’t make this whole “Deb loves Dex” arc long. It’s already painful to look at now.
-While we’re on that topic, no more goddamn love stories unless they directly influence the plot. Remember Batista & Laguerta? How you wanted them to die in season 4?
-Don’t make Dex have any more quarrels about how to love Harrison. He was a good stepfather to children that weren’t even his. I think considering what Dex does, Harrison is relatively OK. Before the shocking (before 1999) Gellar twist, he tried to “redeem” Travis and give him a new life. Why? Because it’ll make him a better father to his son. I don’t get it either. You know what, the quarrels are OK, just don’t have him make stupid decisions like that based off of them.
-Don’t make any of the seasons revolve around a “theme” like religion unless something major is going to happen in regards to that theme. The most major twists in this season have NOTHING to do with religion (unless you count Travis being delusional).
-Don’t put in a twist without researching it.

^
How about making the show like season 1 and 2? That’s a start. We didn’t have SUPER DEXTER back then.
