Dexter - Season 6 (Renewed, Recharged, Refocused)

I hope it’s not too early to open a thread for the sixth season of Dexter, but being a massive fan, I just couldn’t resist.

Although the season premiere is still months away, Showtime has kindly posted this wonderful teaser to whet the appetite of the eagerly waiting viewers and restore faith to any fans that were disappointed with the atrocity that was Season 5.

Personally, the whole tone and content of the message had me shaking with excitement. If Showtime deliver on their promise of returning Dexter to his roots, Season 6 has the potential of rivalling the utter brilliance that was Season 1 & 2.

You know for all the lumen stuff making Dexter a payback type of storyline for Lumen, isntead of really doing much for dexter.

It was okay. Matsuka was hilarious, Dexter actually opened up to somebody and they didn’t turn into a psychopath like Prado. And Dex gets his kids for the summer.

Kind of a happy ending.

Jordan Chase, Trinity. Too many loose ends. I want Season 6 to open up with Trinity and Jordan Chase & Friends, being deduced to have been hunted down by the same vigilante.

Really wish that Tony Shaloub would join the cast as the FBI Homicide agent who replaces Lundy, and I hope robocop’s Partner comes looking for dexter, bonus point if Liddy’s partner’s name is Murphy.

I agree with you about the loose ends. It would feel too sloppy to leave the Arthur Mitchell/Jordan Chase murders in their current states.

The “Happy Ending” and “Dex Opening Up” was what contributed towards my hate for Season 5. Chase’s murder was such an anti-climax because of how formulaic it felt. In my opinion, I think Season 5 would’ve concluded on a much less disappointing note had Chase killed Lumen and escaped Dexter’s table. Not only would it have been a breath of fresh air for the show, it would’ve additionally allowed for a potential return of the one villain competent enough to slither away from Dex.

I won’t even begin to explain all the problems I had with Dexter sharing his emotions with Lumen.

Not to mention Random Bathroom Victim in the glades. Seriously, what happened with that? How would nobody notice the guy being dead? I mean Dex had to get that bathroom key from somebody.

I hated season 5, but Jordan Chase was the best part of that show. Would have wished he would have somebody kill Lumen, then season 5 ends with a tape of Lumen being killed by her Fiance. With Jordan Chase watching.

Season 6 should be Doakes’ cold case re-opened, Deb finds out dexter is brothers with Ice Truck Killer, Trinity, Jordan Chase, and random bathroom murders being further investigated. Santa Muerte copycat murders. Seriously, if Jordan Chase was as Famous as he was portrayed on the show, him vanishing and being dead should not just be put away.

No seriously, after the club fuck up they just drop the santa muerte case. One of the brothers is still alive, and they may have others in their cult that are in with their cause.

I want Dexter to investigate the cult aspect, as it would be really interesting as dexter gets back to business

Though I wanted “proper” closure to the Santa Muerte case, I seriously doubt Scott Buck will resurrect it, especially considering the alleged time leap between Season 5 and Season 6.

I’m just glad Showtime appear to be moving away from the abomination of last year’s season.

“Atrocity”?

I think hyperboles are abused way too much. I’m not going to go on a fanboy tirade and say “BEST SEASON EVAR!” but the season was still quite engaging, people are simply recognizing the formula and are expecting the unexpected; esp. after the Trinity Arc.

San Muerte was depressing, the writers had no direction.

Perhaps “atrocity” was an over-exaggeration. Admittedly, I enjoyed certain parts of Season 5, and would even argue that it was a decent show. Yet for the standards of Dexter, it was definitely below average (in my opinion).

I haven’t been keeping up on season 6 info at all. When is it even supposed to premiere?

Late September at the earliest, October at the latest (in tradition with past seasons). To my knowledge, no specific date has been confirmed yet, but I’ll be sure to post when more info is available.

I hope I’m not bumping this thread too early, but I just thought I’d post this if anybody’s interested…

Dexter Season 6 - Interview with Scott Buck

It reveals certain plot details and constantly references Dexter’s “Season 1” character. Additionally, Buck promises to conclude particular storylines that were still loose after Season 5.

Now THIS is the sort of creepiness I expect from Dexter. Notice how M.C. Hall’s starting to resemble the Dex of earlier seasons, too.

I liked the stuff with Lumen. The only season I was really disappointed with was probably the Prado season. I do think it was kinda dumb the way they had Deb just let them go without taking a look at the end of last season. Hope to Lumen again in future seasons, she was an interesting character.

I hoPe they do the santa muerte cult thing as a bigger deal.

Also yeah dex with long hair and that shirt again lol. I really hope they bring up trinity, jordan chase & friends, random bathroom victim…

Seriously season 5 was like a huge set up, really wish jordan chase would have been on that plane

I think this season should be divided up into a series of enemies rather than a central one, a female serial killer in the mix would be a nice touch (not just an manipulative arsonist like Lila).

I love Dexter as much as the next guy, but I really think that they should end the show with either this or the following season, just to preserve the good before it turns to shit.

I thought Lumen was cute, my favorite episodes were the ones involving Trinity, Lumen, or Dex’s brother.

I watched all the episodes over a few days a couple months ago, its an alright show but not something I’d go crazy for and recommend to people. I don’t watch very much t.v. nor do I care for it. I normally watch animated shows and sitcoms but I watched Breaking Bad and Dexter and they were worth the time.

Watching the first season, not bad.

I thought season 5 was ok. imo season 2 wasnt very tense because you KNOW that dexter will not get caught. season 3 with miguel was just lame. season 4 was my favorite besides 1 (unmatched!) because trinity was cool.

looking forward to 6
