Judging from the S3 trailer I’m starting to have my doubts the directors can possibly top S2. For once in my life I am NOT hyped about a new season of Dexter. I feel so… lost and confused right now. Feelings I normally reserved after the end of each episode. :sad:

It had better deliver because Dexter is best thing television has had to offer in years.
First off, I think that Season 2 would have fared much better had they not used that British chick. She was annoying, and I hated her with a passion. Hell, even seeing her naked didn’t improve my impressions of her. That’s how bad she was.
And S301 was. . .kinda meh. I’m not feeling pumped up about the plotlines that the episode seems to be leading towards.
Dexter S3
[details=Spoiler]I’m not sure how a spontaneous kill is going to last as a season-long arc. The only place I see it leading is another manhunt for Dexter, and considering how amazing it was done in S2, and considering that there’s no more Doakes to make it interesting, it’s not going to go anywhere.
The Rita pregnant thing is kind of random and humorous, but again, I don’t see how that’s relevant to creating a sustainable season arc.
What I would like to see is a killer from Doakes past (i.e. from the same special forces squad) who wants revenge on Dexter for taking out Doakes. That’d be interesting. Or, have Dexter train Astor and Cody in the ways of the Dark Passenger, like in Book 3.[/details]

I think the main point the ep was trying to get across, is that Dexter going to uncover something bigger while working on the case. Smit’s little brother clearly wasn’t the goody goody they imagined him to be, which can only mean more twists you can shake a knife at. It’ll probably end up being some huge undercover sting operation that Dexter fucked up or something.

Now this and probably next season probably will have you wondering about how you will fake enough emotion that lil Dex won’t grow up being the sociopath you are.
Oh and I have a lurching feeling that Jimmy Smits’ brother was actually there for his brother’s sake and that Jimmy is trying to make amends out of guilt by going after anything or anyone immediately suspicious. It might have something to do with this drug dealer getting off, after all, he is a prosecutor.[/details]
This season is making me realize that Doakes was the spice in Dexter’s life.

Finally got done watching Season 1 and 2 and the first episode of Season 3 and I love every minute of it. Lila is my girl. Seriously, she is my ideal woman (minus the whole setting peeps on fire).

So I just got done watching this first episode. Holy shit. I did NOT want this to end. There’s a lot going on here…Rita pregnant, possible shady cop, that weirdo girl following around Deb, and of course, the innocent Prado brother…Or is? Once again, this is the best show on TV for me.
Good episode tonight. Certainly an unexpected twist.

Best show on TV right now, hands down. Just like last season, you go through the whole “oh snap how is Dexter gonna get out of this one” every week. Jimmy Smits is the man and that Asian FBI chick messing with Deb can get it. :tup:

I agree it’s one of the best shows on TV right now. Does anybody else think it feels really anime-like? Obvious similarities to Death Note aside, I just find the delivery and level of twistedness to be very similar to anime I’ve watched. Definately haven’t seen any other live action television shows like this. Although, this is the first non-network TV show I’ve ever watched. Maybe they’re all twisted. That reminds me I need to watch The Sopranos.
Fuck Death Note, Dexter is pure 100% greatness. This show easily beasts every hot new show and anime out right now. no, not right now. RIGHT. FUCKING. NOW.
