They never said that was Dexter’s first kill. Back in the episode last season with Harry in the hospital, Dexter mentioned that he died a little while after he recovered. Also, Harry must’ve liked the IDEA of Dexter using his lust for blood to get revenge on people get away with murder. But after SEEING Dexter cutting up that body, and being so comfortable with it, that must’ve drove him to suicide.
I see what you are saying, however, I distinctly recall him describing the nurse as being his first kill in an earlier episode. There was the humor of her coming into her living room and it being plastic’d out, then Dex rushing her and her almost kicking his ass. He said something about his first time being a bit awkward.
Also, where was that pimp being sliced and diced at? Harry’s garage? Or do you think teenage Dex asked him to come see so he could show off (wherever the location might have been)?
Yes, the nurse was Dexter’s first kill, and after she died, Harry recovered, but needed to take heart medication after the surgery. So a couple months later, Dexter kills again, either his second…third… it doesn’t matter, only thing that matters is that Harry actually saw what He [Harry] created, and it apperently fucked him up with grief, disgust and all that jazz which made him kill himself by overdosing on said heart medication… unless Capt. Matthews is lying and covering-up something in Harry’s death.
[details=Spoiler]I thought that while Dex would play this smart, he’d try like hell to keep Doakes out of it somehow. Nuh-uh. Framed dude and killed the druggie right in front of him.
I really don’t see a way for Doakes to get out of this by the season end. A pre-ep summary of the last ep of the season at TV.com says that the Harbor case is closed, but Dex needs to handle one more problem (clearing Angel/killing Lila, I guess). Doakes will go down as the butcher unless he has a way out next season. Hell, he could end up killing himself this season.[/details]
Agreed. I’m still amazed at how incredible the writing is. This season, especially the final kill easily tops last season. I’m just glad the whole season wasn’t affected by the strike.
Aw I guess I have nothing to say until I see those 2 episodes except that I actually got grossed out for the first time in a long time when Dex forced Doakes to witness all that goriness. It’s oe thing if he dismembers a body in seclusion but to make someone witness the process adds a darker dimension to the whole ordeal.
