This is what i’m saying! For cops, they’re doing a very poor job. Plot wise, theres way too many holes. I mean my theory from a few pages still stands, but i don’t know if i like this season or not…
Plus, who called “illumenated” (spelled incorrectly mind you for the connection)…this guy =D
This season isn’t doing it for me. Season 4 was just too good.
I’m not going to lie, there were clear plot holes this episode, but I put it in the same league as how Jack Bauer go through the entire day without taking a piss or dump at least once. It’s just a lot of hum drum to deal with.
This show better end next season. Dexter needs to get caught. :-/

And does anyone else see all the relationships currently on the show as being forced? Angel and Laguerta just don’t seem compatible and Quinn and Debra make no sense.

This season is so weak.
I could feel the tension between Deb and Quinn. Two young, attractive people that compliment each other pretty well working together? That was only gonna be a matter of time.

A non-fuck buddy Deborah and Quinn romance is just unnecessary and unnatural to me. I wanted to see Quinn hunt dexter without additional conflict being deborah’s man. OR IS HE JUST PLAYIN DEB OUT TO GET IN DEXTERS CRIB?!? gasp
Having Angel and Laguerta married is fine by me but I really do not think we need to check in on their marriage every single fucking episode! Just keep that shit in the background so one can cry when the other one gets killed off. I cant decide whether I think Laguerta is fine or not (she definitley has moments of hotness and ugliness respectively, something about her eyes are off) but yeah that actress is definitely right under Michael C Hall performance wise. She plays a professional woman really well and also shows emotion to the right degree and at the right times.
I think Julia styles is passable as an actress but I could have done without a big name (well, semi big name) guest star this season.
Why was the woman playing Rita a bad actress? She was an over-actor. She delivered all of her lines in this fake sing songy voice in order to sound like a sweetheart and it drove me nuts. If you look at Dexter and you look at shows like Mad Men, Sopranos, The Wire, and even Boardwalk Empire there is a clear difference in the quality of acting.
edit: Im suprised dexter hasnt taken ANY interest in the Santa Muerte killings. I mean yeah hes got a lot on his plate but its like he doesn’t even know about them.
The actress that plays Rita sounds like that naturally, I’m sure her diction and temperament is the precise reason why they casted her as the doting to-be housewife. It’s like how Al Pacino has the same style of acting even though he’s a tremendous actor, he can nuance but you can always tell it’s Al by mannerism and voice.
She’s just doing what they needed her to do with the character. People confuse hating characters with bad acting IMO.
On a darker note, who would you guys say was your favorite Dexter “nemesis?”
I would say it’s Rudy Cooper, his character was both terrifying as he was violent and gruesome. Even Trinity had moments of desperate vulnerability, but Dex’s brother was just a monster in the purest sense.
Even if that is how her voice sounds like naturally I still hate it and thus I hate her as an actress. To bring up Pacino is accurate because I dont really like him as an actor for the same reason you had as your example, dude always talks like himself. He doesn’t make new characters hes nearly ALWAYS Al Pacino.
She just felt phoney to me. Dexter acts realistically and his monologues are great, Deb acts realistically, Trini acted realistically, Doakes was a bit over the top but still good, Quinn is a bit wooden, Masuka is great as that character (his character can get annoying though especially when comic relief isnt needed), Harry is great (thats my dude since i saw him in the warriors lol)… im iffy on Angel though his speech impediment really throws me off sometimes too but he still has LA PASSI-ON.
Yeah nothing is ever going to beat Season 1. Ice Truck Killer was the shit. The Santa Muerte murders are pretty grusome though. Well see how nasty this Rape Ring gets though I can see some fucked up kills and torture scenes coming up.
Miguel was good imo. dexter’s first best buddy. thats…SERIOUS!
Id say first season > 2/3/4.

Word. I liked the attempt to share the code and it blowing up in Dexter’s face. Plus I liked the emotion Jimmy Smitts showed.
Trinity was a cool psycho, but Dexter wanting to learn how to blend through a family doesn’t seem plausible to me anyway, so I thought he should have killed Trinity way sooner. Writers starting to show other characters’ stories and introducing a baby was the beginning of the end.
Also, Steve Buscemi is always Steve Buscemi, but he is killing it in Boardwalk Empire.
trinity hold my favorite…followed by dex’s brother… but trinity takes the cake… first an foremost who played the trinity killer is what shocked me n the LENGTH of time AND the fact he had a family in the midst of all of it…
an i must agree… rita played he role very well… nothing that made u feel like “really??”… even down to the point of “almost” cheating… she played her role well.
