I think Batista is going to get killed by Santa Muerte dudes this season or that Someone is going down in the face off (possibly latina cop).
Honestly I think this a wack season though theres too much going on.
What I like
-No more terrible acting from Rita’s actress
-Aster and Cody got tossed
-The white slavery ring take down could be an interesting storyline
What I dont like
-Too many romances going on, we got Batista and Laguerta, Deb and Quinn, and you know where Dex and Lumen is headed
-A dex and Lumen romance is too soon. I hope she dies off.
-I don’t think the aftermath of Rita dying was handled well
-Too many corny moments and cheezy jokes. The tone is a lot less serious than past seasons.
The new nanny is just too convenient. Dexter says he’d never flake on her again but has probably done so every episode since lol What kind of nanny would stick around for that?
-Quinn is becoming more of an important character than I hoped he would.
Honestly the way Rita’s death was dealt with makes me think it was an afterthought and more of a result of the actress leaving to do her new show than actually being what they intended to do. It was a great shock and pushed season 4 to that next level but the sloppy way they dealt with the aftermath makes me question if they did it fully knowing what they were going for next. Keeping Rita alive and just replacing the actress may have actually been better for the show as a whole.
Even the Santa Muerte thing kind of got ruined. At first it starts off as some weird cuban cult thing that could actually be interesting, but now it turns out to be religious gang bangers who need money for the VIP lounge?!??!?!? I hope it turns out that these brothers arent actually connected and its something else because thats a bit silly.
wasn’t the crime scene at the port a little too suspect? the fact that they’re just going to let everything slide exactly the way that masuka said is kinda weird, especially if they went through a thorough investigation.
I sorta agree. From the moment Masuka said that inappropriate comment about Rita when she was lying dead in the bathtub I think they were confused as to how to handle the situation. I think it picked up well afterwards IMO.
The season isn’t over, I don’t think the gangbanger thing is all it’s set up to be. I believe the cult is more than a cover and there are some aspects that Latina Cop will be intermixed.
I thought so too, but than I thought “what would you do if you just walked into a room with a naked dead guy wrapped in plastic who just shot another guy tied up?”
Dexter knows the angles to make the scene look plausible and a little investigation would teach you that both of the dudes were into clubbing and one of them was gay.
Not to mention the fact that all the follow up work would be done by Dexter probably. That was some Deus Ex Machina type shit, but the endgame works.
I’m not even gonna touch that link. :wasted:
I like the new Nanny. I think she is going to be Dexters new anchor the way Rita was. Lumine is going to be his protege/child kind of taking on the role Astor and Cody would have. BTW, I’m so glad Astor is out. That kid just couldnt act to save her life. Dexter has kept his promise to the nanny by calling and updating him before he disappears. I think somehow the nanny is gonna get something on him and she will be the first person Dexter ever confides in. Ironically, the second he does that, his relationship with her will be stronger than his relationship with Rita. I am hoping that the nanny has no deep dark secret/hang up. There need to be normal women in Dexters world, and NO, I don’t count Deb as one of them.
It seems like people mix up the concepts of not liking the character, with not liking the actor. Rita and Asther are annoying, but I don’t see how their roles were badly acted.
One thing Im puzzled with…that guy Dexter killed out of rage in the first episode, right before going to the funeral…what happened? There’s no way he could have properly cleaned that place up.
I’m not mixing it up. The kid who plays Astor doesn’t have the ability to smoothly play a child struggling with grief and anger. Her little monologue about “I thought things were gonna get better!” was pretty bad. Too be fair, that scene would have been tough to pull off.
For the record, I like the Astor and Cody characters, just not really the child actors who play them. I have never had a problem with Rita or Julie Benz, and don’t really understand why anyone would.
yo what about julie stiles? ive managed to tolerate most of the meh or bad acting in the show so far but i guess with her performance as lumen, kinda pushed me to a point that i snapped lol.
sadly to say, watching dexter is more like a guilty pleasure to me now, even then sometimes its not that pleasurable lol
i wonder how did he deal with that random guy he killed before goin to rita’s funeral too. i can live without the an-hel laguerta stuff too. good job at playin the “did he/she cheat?” card, two eps in a row woohoo.
LMAO She’s part of the Real IRA, escaped from Ireland because MI5 were on her tail
Julia Benz was top tier, you are on crack respectfully TheMaidenMasha, but I do agree with your thoughts on how her death was delt with, I guess with only 12 episodes you can’t linger on everyone mourning so much. And I think we all agreed prior this season we didn’t want flashbacks, or Rita appearing like Harry.
As for the guy Dex murdered before the funeral
The guy was a ass
Dex was in the middle of a swamp area and had his boat near by
shes a lil tight… but those are the best!! Club Latina had freak written all over her…
laguerta gives up da ass an according to batista an IA guy… ‘…give the best blowjob in Miami’…in MIAMI. yes id choose latina cop over laguerta but dont mean i wouldnt yank laguerta as well…
Actually “tolerate” is the word I would use to describe Julia Stiles right now. I wasnt impressed with that bathtub scene, but than when homeboy pointed out it was one long take I let it slide. I’m not feeling Julia Stiles really, but Im still enjoying the hell outta the show.
I trust that this Venezualan death club cult thing is gonna pay off eventually. These people are good at putting things together. Not sure why you think they would need to constantly refer to some random asshole Dexter killed in the middle of nowhere. Basic rule of life is if you are ugly, have no money, and have no family, the police ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD are willing to put your case into the “shit just happens sometimes” file. Besides, we’re talking about Dexter. In season 4 when he had that conversation in the bathroom with the evil cop chick it finally clicked with me that Dexter could kill someone in front of a bunch of witnesses and make the scene look like it was physically impossible for him to have comitted the crime. Seriously. How you gonna put a murder rap on a trained, overqualified forensics expert with OCD?
By the way, yall wanna know the best oerformer on the show? Laguerta! That woman has shown more consistant range than anyone in the last 5 years.
Same here. Maybe it’s nostalgia, but I felt the first three seasons were better written. I found myself having to suspend a lot of disbelief in this episode, like Angel picking that chick up no problem and everyone relying on Masuka’s explanation (although it was funny as hell). Maybe the latter will come back to bite Dexter in the ass, but either way it’s almost Smallville-ish how they solve problems this season.
Nah man hands down Dexter. Laguerta is just that consistant, her character has required little to know development, the only time that she really had to do some serious acting was way back when Doakes died. Whereas Dexter every season Michael C Hall has delivered a loveable yet scary character, e.g when he had to kill his own brother, or last season when he went psycho and almost killed Trinity infront of the family scared the shit out of me lol.
I know right. What about all the broken glass on the ground?
How about the plastic wrap rubbed off on the ground from the guy being dragged? Wouldn’t his body exhibit abrasion wounds if the plastic wore out?
Dexter used lumen spray, wouldn’t investigators on the scene notice that their black lights are lighting up the blood without their spray?
Does anyone in Dexter’s old neighborhood notice Lumen entering his home, i.e. single father neighbor guy.
I liked the episode a lot though. I can’t remember the last time I was so tense watching a movie or tv show. Dexter’s face was priceless when he was like “FUCK ME?” and Masuka was hilarious at the end. Dexter’s neck snap was weak though.
