Doakes shot people for no reason he wasnt innocent.
If I recall correctly, Doakes shot that one guy who committed those war crimes (grisly stuff when he described it). Other than that, his shootings were on-duty me-or-him situations. My memory may be falling me though.
Doakes = my least favorite character in the Dexter series PERIOD.
Technically, Dexter didn’t frame Doakes as the Bay Harbor Butcher. The police found Dexter’s bloodslides in Doakes’ car, and assumed they belonged to Doakes, whose finger prints were all over the box, becuase he broke into Dexter’s house and stole them.
Dexter just didn’t tell them they were wrong.
Just a thought: The season began with a bathtub murder, and ended with a bathtub murder.
Anyone else besides me catch all the symmetry in this last episode?
Anyone else think they crammed way too much into the last episode? Kind of diluted it. Deborah finds out who Dex really is, his wife dies, Trinity gone, etc. Too many loose ends as well. What about Trin’s family? They can ID Dex. What about his guilty conscience about killing the innocent man? That just faded away, no real conclusion. A little disappointed with this finale. Things have been going downhill since season 1.
He threw his kill tools into the ocean so a diver would find them. I don’t recall exactly, but I think he knocked Doakes out with some drugged water and put his fingerprints on the weapons before hand. I KNOW Doakes’s fingerprints were on the weapons somehow. That’s a clear setup.
There are no lose ends other than Quinn’s suspisions and Deb finding out about Dexter biological mother.
The family believe Arthur ran off because of the police were onto him, Arthur cleaned out the family’s savings account, and took the muscle car so the police will think he has left Miami. Dexter said he’ll make sure the family get the money, how exactly I have no clue.
So there are loose ends. You just mentioned a few. Trin’s family might also be speaking to the police, what with their father being a serial killer and all. At some point they’re going to talk about this guy who seemed to so much about their father’s insanity. Maybe even give a description of him? Especially after he choked Arthur with a belt and threatened to kill him with a fucking butcher knife.
Its not the series finale, its the season’s finale. I dont mind that much if they leave some loose ends, at least its not a bloody cliffhanger LOL
There’s no need to tie up every single loose ends in the latest finale IMO.
I was hoping next season’ll skip a few years but i doubt so since Arthur’s family thing is a big thing to be skipped just like that… Unless they’re just happy that arthur’s gone ( i bet they are) and kyle gave em back their money and asked them to keep quiet.
Arthur’s family is not really relevant anymore, dudes dead. If they show them next season It’ll probably be something like this.

While they’re purging bad actors I think Angel should suddenly die next season leaving laguerta heartbroken (hey at least itd be a payoff to the lame storyline)

I got a question, how did dex find trinity in his car?
Remember dex had arthur’s wallet and there’s a receipt for the repair of the car?
He possibly went to the workshop and ask the person there about the car(while showing his badge), and then he’ll just use his cop radio and ask anyone to notify him when they see a car that meets the description. (its not like he never done this before)
As far as im concerned, arthur only changed the paintjob of the car, and fixed the broken parts.
yeah and after he found trinity, he went and sabotaged the car(this is implied by the thing dexter’s holding after knockin trinity out) so that it will break down (though conveniently in the middle of nowhere haha)

lol dexter’s sure gonna get a lotta shit if all of his abuse of power comes to surface. its hilarious when he gets away with a lot of stuff he did, but hey, wont be a show then.
All of the people hating on Angel this season need to realise that he’s always had a background thing.
-Angel divorced, get to see ex-wife and kid… wants to patch things up.
-Angel and Lila (lol).
-Angel and cop chick.
-Angel marries boss.
It’s been a slow burn but you can bet there will be a big pay off. You don’t develop a character that long with such an incidental relationship to Dexter without a reason.
Anyway, you all need to stop with the hero/antihero stuff. What’s much more important is how Dexter percieves himself vs how others percieve him. Most of the show is spent in Dexers head and you get used to the idea that he needs to kill, but what is brilliant in season 2 is the mirror of Doakes and his fathers (in the past) reaction of absolute revolution at his dirty work. To this day I think thats why Dex started seeing Daddy ghost after the realisation that everything he knew is wrong… to block it out.
You’re supposed to sympathise with Dexter. You’re also supposed other characters reactions to him that clearly show something different to what he believes. It’s just masked by the fact that most people who get to see him for what he is are psychos and murderers.
I think I’m gonna have to rewatch season 1 and 2 again…
I definitely sympathised with Dexter when he found Rita dead. That shit had a huge impact right when you hear Rita’s cellphone ringing.
After thinking on the season ender for a while I’ve come to realise that I’m starting to dislike Dexter the character. Rita was dead because he just had to have his moment with Trinity, Harry had the right idea when he told him to kill him in the woods, odd as it may have been.
Then Dex goes and saves Trinity from suiciding at the construction site which would have been pretty convenient for him, if he let him go he still would have killed him sort of. He could have avoided misleading the Deb and the others and let them catch Arthur he in all likelihood would have received the death penalty but no no, Dexter has to have his moment. It’s not like Debra would have gained any satisfaction from finishing Lundy’s work, Trinity disappears and the case stays open, they probably think he’s gone to start a new cycle in another city.
And I knew for sure that Trinity was going to one up Dexter, dude was on the run for over 30 years he wasn’t going out like a chump. Now Rita’s kids lost their momma and they’re stuck with Dexter’s silly ass. I hope shit goes south for him next season, fuck that nigga.
It might be the right idea to kill him then, but at that moment Dex thought that he could learn from Trinity about having a family/normal life etc… meaning, he cares more about his family than his “dark passenger” or whatever. It’s his attempt to become “good” that caused all the mayhem. If he stuck to his harry’s code 100%, he will never be caught and he’s going to just be the monster he is, the monster harry thought he’s bringing up. But Dexter is growing, and it might be a double edged sword.
Plus, its not really harry who told him to kill trinity. For all i care its his dark passenger taking form of harry(and his gdlk code), telling him to kill. To think of it, this makes some sense since despite whatever’s harry’s telling him is “the right thing” its still only the “right thing to do to not get caught while still being a serial fucking killer”.
Dex gotta have his ritual, probably harry who taught him that too. Sure, it might be more convenient if he just let arthur falls down to his death. But remember, he IS a serial killer first, then maybe a pseudo-vigilante who kills people HE decides deserve to die second.
He wants to satisfy his need to kill more than anything else.
…and yeah, he doesnt kill people by letting them die, or sabotaging their car to explode or poison them. He needs to have his space to do his work, to take that blood splatter thing, to have conversations with the person he’s about to convict, telling them about the crimes they did(while ignoring the crimes he had done all this time lol), and to clean up all the mess afterwards… all is harry’s code(the real harry not hologram harry lol)…
Dex was there right when the SWAT teams showed up. They probably would have mentioned that little fact to the police. Then given a description. Then that description would look exactly like Dexter who mysteriously got into the garage before the SWAT teams. Hmmm…
