He doesn’t qualify as a “good person,” but he could be a hell of a lot worse. Not really valuing his family, and not trying to solely kill people who have killed others. Basically, he COULD be Arthur.
But yeah, who do you guys think “won” the battle? Arthur or Dexter? Or is it a stalemate?
There has been several occassions where Dex has caught the criminal in the act, he didn’t bring them to justice just slayed them
THATS BAD
He taught someone how to kill and cover their tracks
THATS BAD
He killed an innocent man
THATS BAD
I’m repeating myself but I will say it again, the family the socializing it was all a screen to fit in and hide his true identity. But what this season has shown us is Dexter isn’t a complete monster, he has a heart and cares dearly for his family.
But just like Dexter’s inner monologue says, if he gets caught they’ll execute him, doesn’t matter how many people he saved or come to his defense he IS a serial killer. Dexter will blame noone but himself for Rita’s death.
That’s like saying any serial killer with siblings should have similar tendencies, which is retarded. And the born in blood thing, well I don’t buy it. I’m caught up, subscribed. Wow finale!
Arthur got to die in relative peace and with acceptance of his fate, Dexter has to live with the burden of knowing all this suffering is a result of his Dark Passenger.
you seriously drank the Kool-Aid on this one, sir. if you think Dexter isn’t as despicable as the people he kills, you have problems.
just because Dex *believes *they are more than cover to him doesn’t mean it’s true.
he’s also responsible for Doakes death. and he killed Miguel’s brother. and the guy that guy that was stalking Astor (don’t really care about that one personally, but that guy served his time. )
Well, let’s not forget that Dex also set up Doakes to be framed. He didn’t mean for Doakes to die, but life in prison is bad enough in its own right. Though, when you look at it, Doakes could have caused a lot of trouble and suspicion for Dex in prison. He had to have some sort of proof he didn’t commit at least one of the Bay Harbor Butcher’s murders. That Dex didn’t immediately kill him outright is kind of weird.
They’re all breaking the law and will be punished in accordance of the law. Most people believe life to be a sacred, Dexter doesn’t have a licence to kill, he isn’t a soldier in a war, what he is doing is illegal so that means its murder. You can argue its for the greater good (which I would agree with), the problem is in a way Dexter is like a god in the sense he has the power to give and take life as he chooses, this is a great responsibility which he has shown he is not fully in control of.
I wouldn’t go as far as saying he is desicable, he certainly isn’t the devil, just your friendly neighbourhood serial killer.
Your going on a tangent that has very little to do with what I was trying to say. I’m not arguing about the law or the worth of life. What Dexter does is straight up wrong. Dude is an anti-hero, a charismatic criminal. I never tried to say what he does is right.
I’m saying that two crimes in the same category but have different victims and motives differ in severity. The deed is only one of many parts by which you can objectively judge an action.
edit
again, everyone read The Killer Inside Me by Jim Thompson. A 1952 novel with an extremely similar theme to Dexter, but a lot less lovable. Awesome, awesome book.
It’s been a while since season 2, but I know Dex was considering turning himself in. I don’t remember if he came to a decision to do that, but I that’s how I’m remembering it right now. That he was leaning in that direction. Could be wrong though.
Haha. Man I was so shocked to see people actually get sad when Light was ultimately killed.
