Defenders Unite! (The MvC3 Hulk Team-Building Thread)

I’ve been playing around with Spidey-web ball/Hulk wave/ Doom missiles.

Missiles are nice because they provide some cover and allow Hulk to get in close where he’s dangerous, plus if they hit on they ground you get basically a free :h: charge, :l: followup, and if they hit in the air you can often get dash~jump s for a ground bounce. They also give Hulk an OTG after his air combo if you :s:+Doom and Doom~tornado then 1-2 extra spins and Hulk can :h: charge (whiff) in and j.:h::s: for ground bounce.

Spidey doesn’t help so much on the assist, just :h:+Spidey making s.:h: safer.

This. I’ll admit Hulk is a bad battery, but then again my with my fight style I try to save meter for Big Combos. (Especially since no one on my team has a Lvl. 3). I keep Hulk on point because he’s a game-changer. The minute they see him starting the match, most of their strategy changes. It’s either jump back & wait for a mistake, or rush defiantly to beat out his Super Armor. Neither strategy is Surefire.

What I’ve been thinking of rolling Magneto (A)/Hulk (A)/Wesker (B).

Magento on point, and then I have two solid assists for keep away and/or OTG games. Build up meter and bring out Hulk for some main event in the form of big, green, butt-kicking. Then he has a great beam assist and the fastest otg assists to back him up. Depends on how much trouble I have playing keep away or rush down that I might switch out Wesker and just deal Hulk D without the OTG assist.

this is very strong team. the initial mixup is crazy. before round starts you are walking up to your opponent with 3 options already: 1) s:h: backed with lariat, throw backed with lariat, jump backed with lariat. all which lead to your opponent being cornered and taking 60% +

also lariat helps keep your normals safe. be wary tho, lariat can be punished by small characters, beam ultras, and late combo attacks. i think its better to keep normals safe using sentinel assists personally.

but no lie, this team is beast. a good friend of mine uses this team, and to be honest his input isn’t the best. he can do standard shit and thats all u may need with this team. nice DHC ability lot of life and just strong damage.

Decent zoning too. you would be surprised how much durability :qcf:+:atk: really has.

Well I’ve been going back and forth trying to find a 3rd that I like playing as, meshes well with Hulk/Sent, and isn’t terribly difficult to play as (ie: no triangle jump combos which my execution isn’t too good at) - as of tonight played a good number of games against my buddy and settled on a 3rd:

Captain America (Shield Slash), Hulk (AA), Sentinel (Charge).

I still gotta learn a lot more with both Capt and Sentinel but already they’re meshing really well with spamming shit from the far end of the screen and then doing dirty knockdown shield projectile > sent assist > command crossover for really good mixup. The shield is also really helping Hulk get inside.

I’m running she hulk, hulk, and sent. But truth be told I really only use sent for the drones. My win rate went from 60% with she hulk, trish and sent to I would guess 80 to 85% with adding hulk to my team instead of trish. Standing h is the best move in the game I consider it broken when combined with sent drones. So the deal with sent and hulk is to call in the drones dash foward in front of the drones and you have a safe mix up options either grab, air double overhead hp or jump them to cross up. The othe thing I like to do with sent is he’s really good bait so I call his drone really close to someone and alot of time they will try and score a launcher or something on sent but unfortunately I had also thrown out a h and my armor ate the attack and now they get smashed. She hulks otg assist adds alot of damage like any otg assist.

I am thinking of replacing my Chris, his hypers dont mesh well with my Spencer or Hulks hypers, the only reason I had chris is too deal with other projectile characters, I just hate chris’s normals he has no reach, so what would be working well with spencer+hulk? I was thinking of Dormammu because I did a 959k damage combo with just 1 bar with Hulk+Dark hole assist, plus I can dhc that tracking hyper fireball after a gamma crush, and then I have enough time to charge up his hands, spencer works well with hulk because after bionic arm I can dhc it into gamma crush or after bionic maneuvers I can also do a gamma crush after it, and I can do bionic maneuvers from gamma tsunami screen range, but when I look at dormammu/hulk/spencer is they all are meter heavy

Yes with a good lockdown 3rd assist. I had a decent run using Hulk/Haggar/IronMan & Hulk/Haggar/Storm. However I have more fatal DHCs using Hulk/Spencer/Storm and feel more versatile this way. I’m honestly still feeling Spencer out though.

GAMMA HELLO!
Atm I’m running Sent(alpha drones assist)/Hulk(gamma wave)/Dormammu(purification) and I feel the almighty Capgod has shown me the light and that I must drop the robot. So I wanna move Hulk to point however that leaves a gap in my team im finding hard to fill. I require assistance deciding on a 2 spot replacement that can help me stop Hulk getting zoned out and has some good DHC potential

I’ve been rocking Hulk (gamma wave)/ Deadpool (OTG)/ Taskmaster (forward shot) and have done decently with it. They all DHC extremely well off each other. I can kill most characters in the game with just landing one Hulk attack and having 2 or 3 Hyper bars (sometimes just one depending on the character). Whenever Hulk is switched out, I can play good keep-away with Deadpool or Task on point. I have had a lot of success running Taskmaster as anchor, so I want to keep him atm. I might switch Deadpool for IM, Wesker, Shulk, or maybe Dante. This would give me a character I can use against keep-away teams. Dante works extremely well, but I’m not sure I want to hop on to the Dante train just yet. I can’t ever make up my mind on teams. I know that I want to run Hulk and Taskmaster, and I want the 3rd to have an OTG. Wesker and Shulk seem interesting in that their OTG is also low-hitting, which would help Hulk land more hits. After a small local tournement this weekend I’ll try all the different OTG assist characters on the team, for now I’ll keep Deadpool. Wish me luck this weekend! HULK SMASH!

I’ve been running Hulk/Dorm/Sent primarily the whole time i’ve been playing the game. I, too, will be dropping Sent. I might be switching up my whole team though. I’ve experimented with Shulk/Hulk/Dorm, and that team is BAD. Might try testing Hulk/Tron/Iron Man. Pretty dece DHCs (I think), and Iron Man AND Hulk can enjoy some level 3 X Factor bullshit.

Bad meaning bad or bad meaning good?

I’ve been playing Shulk/Hulk for a while and I think they work well together. Shulk provides battery for Hulk so he can wreck shop with hypers, as well as providing what I think is the best OTG assist for him. I either go with wave assist as it helps Shulk get in, or AA depending on my 3rd. My last character I’ve been messing around with Arthur, Chris, Dorm, Doom, and Spidey. I feel Arthur and Doom provide the best assists for getting in close with Hulk(as well as Sent), but I use Dark hole and web ball a lot to make s.:m:/:h: and j.:h:/:s: safe on block.

It really is a good pair, and I think the developers knowingly created some chemistry there. Combined with Dormammu, however, there is just NO mobility unless you are super duper gdlk with all 3. My Dormammu is incredibly bad, but I find his movement to be very slow. His jump is too slow to get over basic fireballs often, and his fly is awful compared to someone like Iron Man’s. (Obviously, I know that one’s the best in the game, but still.) Shulk really can’t get around shit, and makes Hulk look like a pro at dodging stuff, which is amusing. If you have a great crossover assist then I think you can play Shulk and Hulk together, and I’m definitely not done testing teams with the pair of them involved, but you do really have to be safe about letting your opponent get too much room.

I like playing Hulk with Wesker for the easy OTG Assist, and then one other character that easily DHCs off full screen OTG Gamma Tsunamis, and that has a projectile assist to help Hulk get in.

Right now that’s storm, but I think a few characters could qualify here.

Speaking of that I can’t seem to use wesker otg assist after air throwing like wolv/spiderman. Am I doing this wrong? Or are they too small?

Shuma’s Mystic Ray assist will OTG for Hulk, but the timing is a little tricky, it takes a litle practice. Also, you can use the DHC trick with Shuma, just like you would with say X-23. Shumas OTG assist has more range than X-23’s and covers above ground level as it sweeps up into the air.

I’m not sure about 100% full screen but at mostly full screen you can DHC into hyper mystic ray from gamma tsunami and get some more dmg.

I like the combination of Shuma’s OTG mysic ray assist and Akuma’s slower moving, projectile eating Tatsu assist. I can get long range cover of both ground and air in case someone jumps over hulk’s projectile, or I can get some lengthy ground cover time while I advance behind a tatsu. If they try to jump over mystic ray assist… lol. If they try to jump over tatsu assist they get either Hulk’s AA, Gamma crushed, or air thrown - and combo’d.

EDIT: Dashing over a character just before the first hit of an assist is a lot of fun with Hulk, and he can get over a LOT more people that I originally thought. Nice confusing mixup, and if they turtle, throw em.

I’ve been running Hulk/Spencer/Storm since practically the game’s release. The way to use Spencer to his fullest is to use his Wire Grapple to rush in, and have Storm cover with her Whirlwind. And I think you already know about Bionic Lancer xx Gamma Crush, right?

need to nerf hulk x factor

Was using Hulk (gamma wave, Tron (gustaff fire), Taskmaster (l. aim master. Hulk and Task are a match made in heven when it comes to zoning oponents. A lot of the time all it takes is one combo for me to K.O. my opponents point charecter becasue of all the chip that I do with hulks gamma wave and taskmasters asssit. Im droping tron though because here options seem to be limited when shes at the point. Any one have any suppestions for a charecter to help keep the presssure on and do safe :h: and :m:

Haggar’s Double Lariat? Doom’s Rocks? Sentinel’s Drones? Maybe Dog’s Ice Shower or Akuma’s Tatsu? I guess many assist will work allright but I like ones that not only help keep the pressure but also cover Hulk’s approach though you have Taskmaster’s assist for that purpose.
Still I’d strongly recommend some kind of otg assist to take full adavantage of Hulk’s combo potential (especially after Tornado Throw).
