Defenders Unite! (The MvC3 Hulk Team-Building Thread)

Even though Sent is scrubby and in all honestly, a terrible character all around, drones assist is the best assist for Hulk in my opinion, and fly+AA Gamma charge assist makes Sent usable. I’ve been trying to get away from using him, but if you want to win with Hulk, drones and an OTG assist (not Wesker’s though) is the way to go IMO.

I know this is like 4 months later, but I love GR and Hulk, if only for trolling for Penance Stare. I just build 4 meters poking away with chains and using Hulk’s AA assist. Getting them into the corner and then gamma charging Light into Gamma Crush, then Penance Staring when hitstun goes away is so free and hilarious.

The way I use my team plays like this…I use Doom missiles to OTG for usefully combos and use Rocket’s Log to basically either for range, extended an air combo or simply get some one off of me when i push them away. If anyone has any tricks for my team I would great appreciate it
For those who don’t know how i set up my team goes like this
Hulk (B)/Rocket Raccoon (Y)/ Doom (B)

Hulk need 1 of these assists Sent drones, Rocket Racoon Spitfire twice, or Dr strange bolts of baltack these allow Hulk to gamma charge recklessly while safe (I know that contridicts) and you can put absurd amounts of pressure on the other player.

lazily perfect: why not wesker otg? besides being unreliable after air throw vs med/small characters (as in shit dont work).

dorm is a good teammate. darkhole is a good assist.

I’m trying to run Hulk a/ Chun-Li y/ Sentinel a. I like the team, but I’m having a hard time finding a way to combo out of Hulk’s command throw. Does anyone know a way to do it with this team comp?

Call Sentinel immediately after throwing them and do a gamma charge H as quick as possible. Then gamma wave L them into the drones. I never got it down super reliably, but I was lazy about practicing it.

Do command throw, then H gamma charge, Dante Jam session, dash cancel jump with jumping S (Jumping H then S moves player to far away to do the launcher) this works on every one.

So for my hulk team. i dont really know who i want for my anchor or my mid. i know for one of them i want an assist for hulk to get in like drones or a beam. Should i put an otg assist on the team?. if it helps with the characters i know ill list some.

(ammy, deadpool, (learning, taskmaster), arthur, sentinel,wolverine, dormy) and im willing to check out others. help would be appreciated.

Wesker OTG doesn’t pick up 2 characters, and it doesn’t work well in the corner, and Hulk does most of his work in the corner. This may not be true though, since I’ve never used Wesker. Dark hole, eye of Agamatto, and wallbounce assists work well with Hulk for relaunch combos. I just like using Deadpool.

I have a lot of fun messing around with Hulk zoning teams when I’ve got people over playing me that aren’t familiar with the game. Something like Hulk/Racoon(log)/Doom(rocks) or Hulk/Ironman(repulsor)/Sentinel(drones) The basic idea being to stand back and cancel stand H into wave while calling assists, until they’re frustrated and prone to bad decisions. It looks super frustrating, but I was wondering whether anyone had ever taken the idea and run with it in a more serious setting.

Also, I think I’m gonna try and switch gears to Hulk (charge)/Haggar (lariat)/Strange (bolts) because I like Strange’s jump loops. Can Strange hold his own on anchor, and does anyone know any fun stuff I can do with Strange and Hulk?

hulk/sent/wesk is probably top 3 if not the best hulk team imo.

Hulk does not need an otg use his gamma wave and there is so many moves that hold people in palce for hulk to relaunch, wesker does work well because it allows you to combo off command throw, and have unblockables and yes @insanelee that team works is probably the best hulk team.

lol, Hulk Sentinel Wesker is a baby team, and is really only viable online. I honestly think that if Hulk gets touched, that team is screwed at higher level competition.

Hulk Sentinel Wesker is far from the top 3 best Hulk teams lmao, sure it’s good for online newbie/scrub stomping to level up a few titles on ranked, but that’s about it lol. in a tournament setting a lot of high level players would have seen through your strategy before you even plug in your controller.

The most troublesome Hulk team I have faced so far was Hulk(y) Dormammu(a) Dr Doom(b).

Hulk with Sentinel is vastly overrated to me, but it may be because the drones come out too slow for my offense. Which is why I have Tasky on anchor, since his arrows can keep up with my movements and set up huge power combos.

Its been a while since I’ve posted in these threads, but I do feel like Deadpool is one of the best assists for Hulk especially if you are going for TODs. As someone else mentioned in another Hulk thread Deadpools otg assist can reset ground bounces when u time ur hit right with the assist. The damage I get with the extra ground bounce is nasty. This makes my combos pretty much TOD majority of the cast if I use one bar.

One problem I do have is mixing up new teams with my Hulk. I can get the damage but not as much without Deadpool otg. I think I’ve been spoiled.

Def use strange bolts for hulk! Its def the best assist for him because it clears that horizontal space and gives him the chance to advance plus get some decent mixups and pressure. Eye is really only good if they are in the corner, bolts still works plenty well in the corner though, and eye is generally better on a zoning team.
