Dee Jay's midscreen EX MGU Dash Ultra 2!

Just another alternate method if people are still having trouble landing it:

you can try using negative edge. What i mean by that is immediately after landing the ultra, hold down PPP. Motion f,f,hcb,ub (or uf) then release PPP. Problem is because you are not pressing the button you have a larger margin for error. However, I think the majority of people’s problems with it are that they aren’t cancelling at the right time because it’s a long motion.

edit

let me revise that a bit, you hit ex MGU with PPP and hold it, not press it after (if you press it after it will count as mashed)

why don’t you just double tap PPP when you finish the motion?

sucks that you can’t mk upkicks into U2

i didn’t say it was practical, just said it’s an alternate approach.

I never use negative edge for anything myself.

I hate reading about this EX-MGU into dash Ultra 2. Cuz I can’t do it even remotely consistency.

imo it’s one of the less important things to learn as deejay, and too many people are getting hung up over it. Not to say that people shouldn’t try to learn it, but rather it isn’t essential.

^yeah, its not essential. I kinda made a list of everything about different parts of DJ’s or any characters game. It goes like this:

-Learn combos/AA’s/pokes (hit confirming, maximizing damage)
-Learn proper zoning
-Learn offensive stategies (how to read and punish opponents actions/habits)
-Learn mixups
-Learn matchup specifics (punishes, options, counters, what to do/not do etc.)and get experience
-Dash U2

something like that. Personally I have Dash U2 down pretty good, bnbs, punish combos for the most part, zoning, and mixups. Some things I’m lacking/or was lacking was certain matchup experience, how to read opponents and be smarter offensively, sometimes AA-ing (like sometimes I wait for charge and end up eating combos).

Yeah, I just landed it for the first time in an actual match

The rest of the match was total crap by me, but my opponent had me dizzy with 100 life left in round 3 and decided to taunt. I just thought that it’s over anyway so I went for it. BAM there it was. Didn’t win me the game but whatever. I’m feeling pumped now, even though the rest of the match was horrible play on my side.

I assure you, if I can pull this off, the rest of you can do this too. Keep practicing!

i’ve been playing on xbl lately and i can’t get this down. i got it 1 of 10 on p1 and 1 of 5 on p2.

The 2 frames of lag bs might just not be bs.

ps3 is supposed to be 2 frames laggier than 360. I don’t think it matters much, but it always messes with me when I play first few matches on ps3.

Man, my dash u2 came out, like… 2 or 3 times of the hundred times a tried. I honestly start doubting if this is a reliable combo online, since i often fight with lag?? too bad you cant combo into his u1 with full hits or animation. :frowning:

^check out the tutorial vid, and there’s lots of good advice in this thread about dash U2.

I usually get dash U2 whenever I try it online, but my connection is pretty good.

I got the ex-mgu walk ultra 2 few times today. Kinda of funky and misguided on when Dj can walk up after the ex-mgu lands. Im still looking for good visual/audible cues.

Ok here is the real deal on how to do this combo

Picked up DJ a few days ago as a character I want to learn since my main is guile. Anyway spent some serious time talking to people and practicing this combo and I figured out the Rhythm.

Charge can be held for 26 frames, there are 60 frames in 1 second.
Dj’s dash is 19 frames.
Input frames for dash = 2 frames since each command is 1 tap
and 3p for u2 is 1 frame as well

First the reasons people fail:

  1. uncharging too early after EX MGU, attempting to dash during mgu if not the last 2 frames of it this is a huge mistake, you have enough frames to where its safer to just attempt dash after it ends.

  2. doing a slow ass dash and causing you to lose your precious frames of hold charge. essentially you should be dashing extremely fast.

  3. doing the u2 too late after dash and it not comboing.

so here is how you do it in a summary:

low jabs etc into EX MGU, DONT Press buttons. Be charging immediately. Do Super fast Dash AFTER MGU ends. do the reverse J motion during dash and press 3p as soon as dash ends.

hope this helps everyone because it sure has made this easier for myself.

my question is how many frames do you have before the character becomes too low to do dash U2.

Also check out my youtube tutorial for dash U2 if you need help doing it.

Well, you have 26f to input ultra/super when you’re charging. 26f input window minus 19f dash, you got 7f of extra time before the input time is gone. So you can kinda increase the 7f input time if you immediately roll the rest of the motion + PPP during the dash animation and finish.

don’t forget the 2 frames for the dash.

my question is not about DJ’s frames, its about the frames on the EX MGU juggle. How many frames after DJ recovers from EX MGU and how many frames until the character is too low to dash U2?

More info… One reason u must be careful to not buffer the dash is unlike most fadc ultra combos this one is a “link” combo so no focus to correct your timing.

Any advices to do walk - ultra more consistently? I can do in trainning 50% of the times, but its more difficult for me on some characters like akuma, chun, rufus, bison… I know it is possible to walk ultra them because i have done, but timing is more strict i think.

I have train a lot but i still dont master it enough to do consistently in a match. Any advices? Train more, i guess xD
