Decaying Interest in Marvel vs Capcom 3

The only infinite in Ultimate All-Stars that I know of is Frank West’s. The previous Cross Generation of Heroes is the one with all the infinites.

MegaCrash and Baroque was good because you actually had to carefully manage your meter and red life instead of you just being able to waste meter willy nilly because it was stupidly easy to gain.

^I dunno, megacrash was pretty silly at times when you were playing characters like Zero. He’d have 2 meters before you’d even pushblocked him out, so even if you landed a hit on him there was no guaranteed combo.I just dont like the mindgames behind Megacrash. Then getting combos off Megacrash was pretty silly aswell.

Other than that I think TVC is actually better MVC3. The Baroque system actually required alot of thought and it is what will keep the game forever unique.EVO 2010 top 8 TVC was just as exciting as SSFIV in my opinion. The game really peaked there, it was at its highest level with players like Kbeast and Royalflush. Justins decision to go with Ryu and nerfed Karas in top 8 was also sick.

I’ll never understand why people would play TvC, the game play mechanics had so many holes, it’s unbelievable that people would still vouch for it.

I’ve talked with Royalflush and he told me Megacrash and Baroque were mostly used as a get out of jail free card.

That’s not to say that was the only use for them obviously, I just didn’t ask further.

Well now you’re just being a douchebag with half-assed opinions.

I get bored of MVC3 because I don’t have any local scene at all and I can’t just get with people and play since there are pretty much no arcades or anything around in Utah. It would be fun if the connection was better online.

Hey were you on that podcast?

Yup.

One of the trolls this forum calls mods will close this thread probably. I understand wanting to filter post and all but jeeze.

As for me, I am still digging MvC3 a lot. I am not a big MK fan though. This did happen to me though when I bought Blaz Blue CS. I played everyday for a good while but then I sudddenly stopped playing. It just happens I guess.

QFT. In a year most of you will be playing SFxTekken and will have forgotten about Super’s balance, MvC3’s XF3, and MK x-rays.

I laugh at people saying MK9 is more exciting at the moment. Of course it is! Anything new will be exciting for at least 2 weeks. You then get bored of that and try the next new flavour. If anything, OP making this thread a month (or later) into MK would have been better. Actually, making it post AE release would have made this blog-worthy post more credible and less flamebait.

Not saying MK9 isn’t fun, because it is. Just that when you’re given a new toy, your old toys take a back seat for the time being. That’s life.

well I hav’nt played in a week because of psn and exams but its not deal to me I find mk9 to be lame and ssf4 died for me

I think Ono was trying to get this point across when he talked about balancing AE; games with “rougher edges” are more fun than games that are cut and dry (though I think the dev team disagreed and neutered characters unnecessarily). MvC3 is a bit too cleanly defined as a fighting game, and because of that it loses a big chunk of its fun factor. Tactics are too linear in nature (like the universal airdash in TvC which was one of its biggest flaws).

MvC3 needs more rough edges, characters that have bizarre tactics that differ so wildly compared to one another that there’s no way you could mistake one character for another. Right now it feels like if your character doesn’t have an air throw you can combo from or an OTG of some sort you are complete garbage.

I can see why a Super MvC3 is on the way, and I wonder what Capcom will do to address this.

By the way, TvC’s roman cancels and burst were fun as shit and were heavily part of the metagame. Watching people bait Mega Crash and punish it was a highlight of being at EVO 2010.

I couldn’t disagree more.

lol naw I still play the shit.

But RE5, 3S on GGPO, and MK9 got my interest like pfffft

I think the game’s engine needs a second look on a lot of things but I can’t say I’m bored yet. I think anyone who’s main isn’t mid-high tier can agree. Honestly I’m having fun tryin to make Thor scary, so for me, it’s a project. It wouldn’t take much for this game to jump exponentially. I think the people who never liked the game are MvC2 purist (who I can kinda relate to) or never liked any of the Vs games. The ones who liked the game in the beginning and don’t now, just don’t have a scene for fg’s in general.

I play a lot of MvC3. And TvC is Awesome. I would like that the Baroque System were on MvC3 instead of XFC

Baroque and Mega Crash were fine in tandem (in UAS, anyway), but either one of them would be retarded by themselves.

Baroque without combo breakers would make XF3 look like child’s play…

Yeah, true… Mega Crush would be in too…

But I actually like spending my meter on hypers in this game.

Ive lost all hope in mvc3, for 1 combos are not as fluid as mvc2, push blocking seems pointless 90% of the time, I hate X factor, there are a lot of supers you can spam and get away with and not get punished, Tri-Jumping sucks as a rush down. Pretty much everything ive loved about mvc1 and mvc2 are gone so ya fuck mvc3.

mvc3 is pretty fun. but i do think some things need to be revised to make the game better as a competitive fighter.
