Decaying Interest in Marvel vs Capcom 3

This game would take forever to finish with Mega Crash in it. It would have to cost three meters and take away 20% of your life or something. Baroque would mess this game up unbelievably since assists don’t have as much delay… Magneto would become a horrifying rainbow-colored Baroque monster. We’ll see what Capcom does for Super MvC3.

I think one thing they should’ve brought over from TvC is the ability to choose to do a 2-person Hyper at any time even if you have three or more bars. That would open up more possibilities with assist Hyper choices like with Ken the Eagle and Tekkaman in TvC.

As of now there isn’t much variance in Hypers. I kind of wish there were more power-up or field-effect supers in.

the game is only “decaying” to casuals that have nothing better to do aside from jumping around from one “flavor of the month” to another.
last month was MvC3, this month is MK, next month is AE, and so on.

if you play (or just watch) the game competitively you’ll notice how the game is finally shaping up properly as a competitive game and its actually STARTING to be interesting as new strategies, teams, setups etc are getting figured out.
you’ll also notice how old stuff or stuff that was -at first- thought of as “really good” (like team ASS, or random mashing with sentinel) arent that effective anymore and thats probably a reason as well, not that many people want to keep dedicating time to a game just to be on par with the community.
this getting stale nonsense is most likely people that are still using day 1 “magic series launch OTG super” and are now getting outplayed and cant keep up.

Exact same thing happened with SF4 when people starting getting combo’d regularly and everyone and their mom learned FADCs. casuals and people that didnt want to put in the effort to level up dropped off.
We’re getting spoiled now, having a new fighter come out every month is gonna overkill the hype and the FG scene will get split up, burned out, and immensely decrease in size coz sooner or later theyll stop release fighters every few weeks and there wont be a “flavor of the month” which means all the casuals will go back to CoD or w/e garbage game they were playing b4.

there’s probably a good number of people (who dont suck) that just dont like the game, nothing wrong with that. however those type of people wont come here just to say how they dont like a game anymore, thats some facebook/blogging shit… i dont like S/SF4 anymore and have stopped training for it, but i’m not gonna go make a thread just about that coz guess what? Nobody gives a shit.

Edit: also, TvC sucks.

I totally agree, great post.

There are not a lot of supers you can randomly throw out in this game. You can make virtually any bad Hyper safe by DHCing into an actual safe Hyper though. But we all know MvC2 wasn’t like that at all. It was the perfect game. If you even feel that strongly about it, why are you in this section? Stop being blinded by nostalgia goggles.

Anyway, I really don’t see how you can not like this game this early on if you are playing a team you actually enjoy. There’s way too much stuff to find out in this game for you to get bored already. But, I’m just gonna assume OP is one of those people that just moves from game to game, being bad at all of them. That’s fine. One less for MvC3 players to deal with.

I started playing MK 9 (I just got it today), and while I spent a good 5 hours playing MK instead of studying for my Chemistry Final, I can still see myself investing more hours in the lab and in offline versus with my friends for Marvel.

Meh, can’t really say i’m suprised. MVC3 just feels incomplete. It can’t really compare to other fighting games on the market like MK9 and BBCS.

since i keep switching teams im nowhere near bored. if you aent switching teams theres still alot of fun learning your teams highest non meter, non XF, no assist combos. how many people out there can say that they have a combo with all 3 characters that is +550 or 600 k before meter? alot of characters have them but people arent putting in the time yet to learn them.

how many of these bored people can say that they’ve really learned all the things there team is capable of, like getting max damage off of there aerial exchanges. how many of those people are always using the same 3 assists on there teams instead of changing them up and trying to find some different synergies?

theres still a WHOLE FREAKING LOT to learn about this game.

characters like spidey, skrull, joe, chun etc etc still havent been opened up, doom on point is just now getting opened and hes looking alot better.

i dont know how people can be bored of this game unless its just plain laziness that they are letting get the best of them… i still grind out 2 hour sessions using chun in training mode doing buktooths chun combo even though i long ago got it to the point where i can do the whole thing atleast 50% of the time. (im just trying to up that percentage in training mode)

i mean c’mon… the fun is there and you dont even have to look hard for it.

MK is irrelevant to me personally. Maybe when MK10 comes out I’ll have interest… who knows.

Only games that matter this year are MvC3, Gears of War 3, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Forza 4. Everything else, irrelevant.

Same. And as long as they don’t make any particularly stupid changes to the Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Open beta I will continue to play it.

Horrible lag online and non skilled friends make the game a little boring for me, but not enough to make me stop loving the game. =)

I spend every day at work just waiting to get home and try new things in MvC3. This is the same as every other game; you have the people who bought the game due to personal hype, even though it’s not their kind of game, and the people who know what they’re getting into, and love it. The hype-buzzed idiots have/will move(d) on to Mortal Kombat, and then they’ll move on to Tekken vs. SF, etc.

I still enjoy playing around in the training mode of MVC3, but that’s about it.

Online is just… ugh. You know that a game has lag issues when the developers included a “lag simulator” in the training mode. Wtf.

If I had any friends who play FG’s (which i don’t), I’d be playing MVC3 a lot more probably.

WWE All Stars is surprisingly fun, but it takes way too long to get connected to a match, and there’s way too many little kids playing.

Mk9… i dunno yet. Something just doesn’t feel right about that game. Once i finished the story mode (which was cool), i was pretty much done with it.

i feel mk9 is gonna take over as the big fighting game, the sf series and marvel is going down fast

hahahahaha!!!

Yeah, you know, with the half-assed training mode, the abysmal button mapping, the random ass ninja patches we get no notice of until it’s too late, and the horrific netcode and matchmaking…yeah, I can see how MK9 will take over…

Considering the competition Capcom doesn’t even have to try. NRS talked a whole bunch of shit, and now they look like fucking incompetent jackasses.

Unless Skullgirls can get some massive support, or KoFXIII gets actual good netcode (I won’t comment on the balancing because I actually haven’t been that interested researching the game), Capcom can basically half ass every game they do…and still come out on top because their half-assing is better than others…hell, MvC2 came out of their half-assing…

I think my problem is that I bought the game thinking it would be a sequel to MvC2, but, to me, it feels more of like a stand alone game with MvC2 elements. Also, I don’t feel like I’m working as hard to achieve things in MvC3. I busted my ass for years on MvC2 to finally get to where I am now. I know that someone could always throw the “information is easier to come across thanks to teh intranetz” statement, but I’ve always been the type to sit down and figure out as much as I can before checking out websites. I suppose I can keep playing to help my buddies get better, but other than that…meh…

wtf? i thought mk9 was gonna be gdlk with the netcode, matchmaking, and training tools. how bad is the matchmaking? is it shitty like mvc3 rank search? and how is training mode half-assed?

training mode is half-assed coz the capture is useless, not only do you have to go to the menu everytime you want to try and capture, but when you play a recorded command the 2nd player isnt allowed to input anything.
in other words, you cant use it to test stuff, like how to punish stuff, or how to beat some moves/strategies.

even outside of that the training isnt something to write home about. it really annoys me that it doesnt save your settings.

Oh the online is a million times worse than MvC3. Ranked search times are minutes long and half the time they time out and even the best connections have input lag on a par with what you’d see in a bad MvC3 match. Honestly I described it in another thread as follows, and it’s about all I can say:

MvC3 online is like closing your fingers in a drawer.

Mk online is like closing your genitals in a drawer.

Here’s hoping the patch they announced is a miracle.

wasnt the point of the thread why dont you like mvc3; and I explained it to you why I dont like it, cant force people to play fighting games if everyone quits a fighting game there is really nothing you can do about it.

Edit: And talking about nostalgia. If something is already good you dont need to fix it, or take out anything thats already fun. Its like hey lets get rid of everything that was good about mvc2 and make a worse ver. People who hate on nostalgia are so naive
