Misa did indeed commit suicide, but volume thirteen of the manga says that it was a year after the Light’s death.
Spoiler for Misa at the end of the manga. Man she should of just hooked up with L when she had the chance. Or I dunno, maybe Matsuda… Oh well there’s always a place for her in the Jump Superstars franchise I suppose even if Death Note characters are not playable, eh the guy in my current avatar Sagara Sanosuke isn’t playable either in that franchise so what can you do. :xeye:

Yeah looking at the very end of the manga again which takes place a year after Light’s death it does seem that Misa kills herself. She is with a bunch of Kira worshippers, she puts a candle on the ground and walks to the edge of the cliff. Looks like she jumped off the cliff even though we don’t actually see it.

The last ep. surprised me. I knew near wasn’t gonna die right off the bat but I though Kira was gonna win it at the end. Good stuff. I’m also glad Mello was given more recognition b/c when he was killed, it didn’t seem like he played much of a role in the whole series. The ending for the manga sounds more bad-ass but I thought the allusion to Misa’s suicide in the anime was done more tastefully

;_; Near beautifully owned Kira/Light. Matsuda surprised me. Mikami stabbing himself with the pen, made me LOL. Ryuk ending Light’s life is pretty poetic. Same with Mello working with Near to end Kira, nice work. They ended the anime well, except that i wonder what will happen to the deathnote now…

Light dies with at least a little more dignity in the anime. Plus, i had read the manga first, so i was prepared for what was to come. Having said that, after reading the ending of the manga for the first time, i felt sick, it left such a bitter taste. But i guess it shows how great the manga was to have created these bonds we have to the characters.
at first that sounded like a good idea but now iono. I think it’ll be too out of character considering what his voice sounded like in japanese.
Is L’s real full name ever revealed? I don’t remember seeing or hearing it.

Personally, I didn’t like the way the anime ended. The anime didn’t strip Light’s dignity like the manga. We didn’t even get to see Light scream to Ryuuk to help him. I felt that his desperation and complete loss of control wasn’t portrayed. In the manga he was completely pathetic and weak without the Notebook, and even Ryuuk belittled him.
Light also died on the steps of an abandoned warehouse with light shining on him as if he were in angel or had some sort of retribution before death instead of the cold, dark, and sterile floor surrounded by those who hunted him. Well, I guess you can’t have everything you want.

Light was so desperate that he didn’t want to die. Remember when Ryuk was telling Light that he was going to die in a horrible way? At that time, Light was calm and excited. Well Light did die, and he did die horribly in the manga where he was so desperate to get away from death and thought he was invincible.

Persaonly im fine with the way the anime ended. I was satisfied with it to say.
Only thing I didnt like was that there was no epilouge like manga or whatever. So it was sorta just over, manga at least you got to see what happend to everyone more or less.
Though to say while light was running away I think he shoulda said something like “this… this is my world!” like talking to himself crazly in his head and running into this like white light of a great world or something. And then the camera could just zoom out on him, and the whole time he was just dead in a dirty warehouse. Kinda like that theory of land before time. How they were really dead the whole time after the T.rex fight and paradise was really just heaven all along lol… Im getting nerdy fan boy, but I think it woulda been deeper intresting.
Anyway whatever yea I was still fine with the way it ended personaly. shrug
