cool. I just grabbed 36 via isohunt. one more ep and we all find out who lives and who doesn’t. Damn good series though. I hope they start a new series sooner or later.

I tend to stay the heck out of anime/manga threads because it’s always filled with people who have read and watched waaay past what I am up to (suffice it to say my days of watching fan subs and reading scanlations are kind of over for the most part) but I read the last volume of Death Note last week when it came out in English in comic book shops here in the US.
I’ve been reading it religously ever since it premeired in Shonen Jump USA They preview lots of manga in there, most of them I never really get into but I loved the concept so much I jumped aboard and started reading the series.
Loved the ending, it was shocking mixed with a bit of fear and some hope in the end. A great manga that I’d recommend to people who don’t even like manga since it’s done is such a realistic way. A very satisfying read from start to finish. Death Note rules.

That’s cool man I tend to like anime better when it doesn’t copy the manga directly, especially with the ending and stuff like that. I’ll be sure to start watching it.

-In the anime It alludes to Misa’s suicide by jumping off of that tower(remember the whole ‘Can’t live in a world without light’?)
In the manga she still kills herself later after the end ,but you don’t see it.
-Mikami offs himself IMMEDIATELY in the anime (HOLY SHIT.:wow:) In the manga he breaks down,denoucing Light/kira and eventually kills himself in prison.(again you don’t get to see it)
This is the biggest change in the end sequence IMO
-At the end of the anime after Light gets blasted by Matsuda and while Mikami is killing himself(with a pen no less) Light escapes and flees the warehouse in the confusion and they run several flashbacks while he runs
away,SPK and Aizawa & co. are searching for Light while this is going on.
Light eventually finds an abandoned warehouse and as he is making his escape Ryuk writes Light’s name in HIS notebook,killing Yagami on the staircase.Sunlight pours down on Yagami as he dies giving it a more dramatic close.
Now in the manga…
-After being shot by Matsuda,Light starts pleading for his life frantically ,pleading for any kind of help.Everyone stands around him as Yagami writhes in agony. (un!deux!trois! )
Eventually he asks Ryuk to write everyone’s name in his book,Light’s group and the SPK pull their guns on Ryuk.Near notes that if Ryuk could kill them all for Light,he would have.Feeling cornered again,Light continues to beg Ryuk to write the names down.Ryuk replies with ‘sure,I’ll write’.
Everyone starts to panic again while Light a ear to ear grin.Ryuk pulls out his pen and starts writing in it while everyone opens fire on him.Of course bullets do nothing so he is unharmed.
Light proclaims an early victory until Ryuk mentions he wrote LIGHT’S name in the book.Basically Ryuk says it would be boring to wait until he gets out of jail and dies naturally,so he just killed him then(lol)
Light then spends the next 40 seconds begging for his life until he dies from a heart attack.
Of course that’s like the abriged version but if you read this …

In the recent issue of Shonen Jump USA they have started printing exerpts from the book “Death Note 13: How To Read” a definitive guide to the manga and they will release the book in English February 2008! The exerpt this month is regarding the Shinigami Ryuk. :lovin:
Guess I better start watching the anime lol! I’ll try to watch at least the first ep today.

Never read the manga, but the anime ended the way I thought it would end. But damn it was hard to watch.
