Dead Space 3 Altman be praised

My friend, that one spoiler scare (related to 3 or not) cinches it: I’m done here until I get to play through Dead Space 3. Good looks on the thread. Looking forward to sharing impressions with you .

I re-watched EH a few years ago, too. Didn’t grab me at all.

well you guys are gonna be disappointed cause DS3 is not scary…at all

This confirms my fears. I’m glad I cancelled my preorder. I’ll pick up DS3 when its in the bargain bin for $20.

I was playing DS3 last night with a nice fellow and the game froze on us twice in chapter 6. Not sure why or what happened, has this happened to anyone else?

Also, I found an even quicker way to do the chapter 8 exploit…dont even go in the room, turn your back to the door as soon as the door slides open, then turn back around and open again. You can get 12-14 Healths/Stasis/Materials a minute.

I’m not sure why charging money for extra resources would bug you guys in a game where you’re arguing there should be way less resources.

If it’s just the principal of the thing, just don’t spend that money. You want this game to have less guns/ammo/action anyway, so it all works out.

i really enjoyed Dead Space 3. It’s being slept on.

Just finished the game. Really, really great. The least scary of the 3, yet arguably the best.

It played and felt like Dead Space. I don’t know how they could have made it scarier, since this was the third time having fought necromorphs. Definitely a recurring sense of dread, with a generous handful of scary moments.

Everyone was great. I liked that Larry Bird from The Neighbors was the villain.

Dead Space 3 only sold like 605k copies, which was enough to outsell COD for the month. wtf

Through a good chunk of the game so far, started off on hard instead of normal. I’ve been in a few situations where I ran out of ammo, until I realized how cheap it was to make new clips at a bench. Honestly removing the ability to craft health/ammo would have been better, but it does let you play more with some of the fun toys.

I’m satisfied with it so far, the Feeders were a great addition, I like them a lot more than the little kid swarms from DS2. They’ve probably contributed to the most “FUCK OFF ME!” moments I’ve had with the game so far.

The only time the game scared me was when I saw a regenerator outside of the Dead Space 2 ending. Then I saw 3 of them at the same time. Their decision to make the tram a multibutton on the Greely(at least I think that’s what ship it was) was fucking genius. I got in there and hit the button just so i could get out of Fore Station. I realized it wasn’t going, turned around and mashed the fuck out my D-Pad and A button at the same time with the intention of “Anywhere but here!”. Just the fucking thought of being locked in a tram with something that cant die made me shit bricks.

I think the regenerator enemies would have been scarier if Stasis energy wasn’t so easy to come by. That was the point in the game where I went, “I’m going to stasis EVERYTHING in EVERY FIGHT.” And I more or less actually did do that.

Bought DS3 with the humble bundle, it’s downloading now hope it lives up to my high expectations.

It’s the worst in the series, and a lot of people feel this way it seems.

DS1 > DS2 > DS3.

Iinitial impressions from the first 2 hours, should post them while still fresh in mind:

Didn’t get to start DS3 until earlier tonight, while I really liked the intro it’s definitely a step down from the intro of 1 and especially 2, but then again those are among the coolest intros in all of gaming so 3 had big shoes to fill.

-I can’t help but draw comparisons between Isaac and Nathan from Uncharted in that they’re both treated as human pinballs

-In the first big room I encountered I was afraid to move forward because experience with the series told me after I take a few steps inside and the door closes behind me some necros will pop out of nowhere and chase me, sure enough that’s exactly what happened. I was quickly reminded of the golden rule: Shoot first!

-Lighting and sound is still GDLK, even more so in 3 due to the awesome cyberpunk look it gets to sport.

-When I had my first encounter with a large group of necros I retareated behind a door only to have a necro drop in through a vent in the ceiling and attack me from behind…yup classic DS

-Action set pieces are masterfully executed.

-I don’t like how plentiful a moos and I’m playing on hard.

-Fighting humans in a DS game felt really weird for a split second but then the buttery smooth gunplay kicked in to assure me human enemies are a good addition to the series.

-Not sure how I feel about being able to crouch and roll.

This game really came and went lol.

What happened DS3?

DS2 was so fucking great.

DS1 was great, I still do runs of it every few months. One of my all time favorites.

DS2 removed so many things from the first one that I really liked. Too much action and “enter gauntlet of enemies” situations in the second half. I also hated that they gave Isaac a voice and started his transformation from engineer to dumb action guy.

The DS3 demo made me realize that everything I liked about the original was pretty much gone. The roll, cover based shooting bullshit, the Lost Planet reject boss, etc. I didn’t even bother with it after that. I chalk this series up with so many other series that started out great but slowly went downhill with each sequel.

DS2 shitted on 1 in every aspect, I suppose ill do a long post explaining why sometime in the future.

I didn’t think so. DS1 is king.

I’d like to hear why you think so, though. I don’t think we agree on a single thing when it comes to games, but I’m still interested in hearing why you think DS2 is better than 1 anyway.

Just finished DS3. There were some additions I liked and some I didn’t I’ll post a long in depth review tomorrow.
