DC Comics Thread

Im lost for words when i heard this. How can DC let go of the same guy whom just happened to be apart of the success of JLU? I mean really really?

Green Lantern

[details=Spoiler]Good thing for Hal Larfleeze didn’t want both rings.
At least now Hal has something to hope for…
…his hand back.[/details]

haha bitch got what was coming to him.

this pleases me.

That wasn’t the real Dwayne McDuffie writing that. He had to constantly conform his stories to fit crossovers and other continuity-related things. Editorial mandates pretty much crippled him before he had a chance.

But I think it sounds like he was fired off the book because he spoke openly (but not maliciously; he was matter-of-fact about it) about what he would have done if the company had allowed him to run free.

His run was better than Brad Meltzer’s. I was done with JLA after The Lightning Saga crossover.I should’ve saved my money & bought the Watchmen hardcover

Batman and Robin was SOOOO good. Dick Grayson reads exactly the way he was written during Tomasi’s run including the way he speaks, I feel like I’m not missing a beat. The crew of Circus freaks is PERFECT for DG given his origins. The chemistry between him and Damian is great to read. It’s like 60s sitcom Batman, only you make Robin into a prick. And -

B&R, slight spoilers really

Spoiler

I LOOVED the fact that Batman was able to glide with his cape. After NW being able to glide in the DCAU, I always scratched my head wondering why the comics didn’t copy that right away. Tomasi did give NW a hanglider though, that was the next best thing. Oh and Pyg is great man I hope he becomes a permanent fixture in the Batman mythos.

batman and robin preview: http://www.newsarama.com/php/multimedia/album.php?aid=28430

pretty awesome

man, I really wanna be reading that, but I dunno…

maybe if I drop Brave and the Bold…

LOOOOOOOVEEEEEDDDD BNR
The new villians look awsome
and also looks like Morrison is realy going to deliver with good stories

four preview panels in the end

Spoiler

Dr Hurt is going to attack the mansion again, Damain is getting pissed

I’m 100% will be pullin that series

Did Brave and the Bold start dropping the OG 60s Archie comics heroes like The Fly and placing them in DCU proper? I was hyped about that when I heard it but then I forgot about it.

LOOOOOOVED Batman and Robin #1, it was everything I wanted and left me wanting more. Love the dynamic between Grayson and Damien. Grayson knows how to do this, but he’s not to eager to become Batman. Damien has the skills AND the smarts(dude fixes the Batmobile up with flight abilities), but he’s still young, kills criminals(back in the Batman and Son arc), and maybe a bit TOO eager to fight crime. I can already tell by that preview they are going to be some problems in their relationship.

Dr. Pyg is extremely creepy, and his plan looks to be scary as hell. I really hope he becomes a mainstay of Batman mythos because he’s perfect.

I WANT MOAR

I’ve read the 6 page preview & I’m DEFINITELY buying this. When Dick & Damien teamed up,I automatically knew that was instantly good chemistry

Yeah, really fun book. Quitely has to be one of the absolute top 5, top 3 artists in comics today. His pages are so smooth now, and there’s almost no one that can put a better two page splash together than him. …and to think I used to absolutely hate him with New X-Men.

…heh.

I absolutely hated the wreck that was Batman RIP, but if it was all just to set up an in-continuity All Star Batman & Robin (a Batman version of All Star Superman, not the actual All Star Batman & Robin) then I have to hand it to him again, and promise yet again that I will never doubt him ever again.

Seems to be the case so far, you can tell Morrison has a pretty clear idea of what he wants to do with this book, and it’s pretty much a perfect first issue…action packed opening scene, lays out all the main characters and how they stand with each other, and give a tease of the main baddie in a badass villain scene. Really not much else you can do better in a first issue.

Should definitely be fun.

Does this book replace the normal Batman monthly now?

And if this book does well, where does Quitely and Morrison rank all time in terms of great comic book duos? I think that if this book is even half decent, it puts them above Loeb and Sale.

Yes it does!

I’m just pretending that Judd Winick taking over the writing chores for Batman is not happening. Work with me here. :looney:

not yet, gonna be soon tho.

this month’s was a one-shot, I think the Archie heroes drop in the next ish.

Cool. I’ll be sure to check that out!

The comic was alright. I like the flying batmobile. I just hope they don’t make the story drag on too long. Those bad guys were nothing special. It should take Batman and Robin no more than 3 issues to take care of them.

Batman & Robin #1 was soooooooooooooooooooooooooo good :lovin:

Bruce Wayne 6"2 210 lbs
Dick Grayson 5"10 175 lbs

Does the new Batman wear stilts?

Hey I saw Didio in Midtown comics just now! He was there on line with everyone else just buying toys lol! Quickly I gave him a thumbs up for Batman and Robin telling him it was really good. He said ā€œYeah that’s a fun one!ā€
