Final Crisis #6

[details=Spoiler]What’s funny about that is that it’s the second time that’s happened to Batman, and the first time was Grant Morrison as well.

Is anyone else getting the feeling that Final Crisis is like JLA: Rock of Ages all over again? And it’s the same writer again too…that just seems kind of lazy to me.[/details]

You ain’t the only one, Clinty. Have you read this article? http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=19630

And what else is funny is how Marvel completely stole DC’s thunder with the Obama comic.

I read RIP and Final Crisis, and I don’t get wtf is going on. And what the fuck did he do to Batman?!

Pretty cool read. And reminds me again of how complicated Rock of Ages was…I almost forgot that the Injustice League was the main point of that story. Really requires some patience to enjoy Rock of Ages.

But I don’t like the fact that he’s trying to retroactively force Rock of Ages as even a spiritual or thematic sequel to Final Crisis. No, that entire run was leading up to World War 3 - which itself had done most of the Infinite and Final Crisis stuff already ten years ago.

Marvel has been running circles around DC for like the past five years. At least.

Just take this year for example with the movies.

Iron Man comes out, kills in theatres, Marvel pops out another Iron Man title at #1 to suck in new readers. Same with Hulk this year.

DC has Dark Knight coming out, a movie that has been hyped like nothing else, an absolutely guaranteed hit movie. Absolutely kills box office records, everyone on Earth watches it three times over in theatres and once in IMAX.

What does DC do?

It “kills” Batman in the absolutely most retardedly complicated story I have ever read in a mainstream popular title.

Like what do you tell new readers who want to get into Batman now? “Uh…sorry kids, he’s DEAD.”

What? How’d he die? Well, the Black Glove…oh, actually no one knows what the Black Glove is. But it doesn’t even matter because that entire story didn’t even really lead to anything, because it just tells you to read Final Crisis #6 in the end anyway. So you should go and read Final Crisis first to understand what’s going on in Batman and then while you’re at it, figure out who Darkseid is, catch up on two years’ worth of retarded continuity (which will require reading 104 issues of 52 and Countdown) to figure out who Libra is and all this other shit going on, and then and only then you can pick up Batman and understand it.

And even now, “killing” Batman just looks like a rip-off of Captain America’s death. WHICH WAS REPORTED ON BY CNN.

Isn’t Batman like a hundred times as popular as Captain America is? So why is it that readers of HIS OWN MONTHLY don’t even know what happens to him? The end of the great final “landmark” issue just reads “For the real story, read Final Crisis #6! Also, fuck you loyal readers!”

What an idiotic company.

That is still my favorite JLA story ever. I just wish it weren’t tainted by the electric blue Superman. I can’t get over that. I think I’d rather have a Punisher with white gloves and white boots (and skull-tooth utility packs) than fucking Superman Blue. Stupid DC.

And you know what else is funny about DC (on the unintentional comedy meter)? Even though Morrison’s JLA run culminated with World War 3, DC went ahead and unleashed another story titled World War III a couple years ago when everyone fought Black Adam. How many World War IIIs can a world have? They been taking counting lessons from Capcom or something?

I think once all this Final Crisis stuff settles down, DC could really shake things up with another World War III epic.

Bub, you know the score.

And DC just laid off Bob Schreck, one of their top editors. I know the economy’s not doing too hot, but if a company’s trying to ride out the storm, isn’t it a good idea to keep the guy who helped save Batman in the earlier part of the decade? The guy who’s proven himself time and time again with the smaller publishers like Dark Horse and Oni? The guy who edited DC’s best comic of the past 3 years, All-Star Superman?

I want to know who pulled the trigger on that one.

I am all for bizarre, unpredictable, offbeat stories, but DC really messed up with that “To be continued in Final Crisis #6!” bullshit. I think I could have enjoyed the Batman: R.I.P. TRADE, BABY if it had an actual ending in it. Now I doubt I will even buy it when it comes out.

DC hardly knows shit about making superhero comics entertaining. They’re too busy trafficking in continuity pornography. All the addicts will continue to buy their comics but anyone with a clear mind can easily recognize how asinine their editorial policies have been the past five years or so. If DC didn’t have Vertigo, I would actually root for them to die out completely.

Obama will not appear in a DC comic.

***NEWSARAMA: Something that is timely given what we?ve seen in comics up to and including Tuesday ? when will President Obama be appearing in a DC Comic?

DAN DIDIO: There are no plans at all. The reason why is that over the past ten or more years, we have never gone to any lengths to include actual political figures into any of our books, and see no reason to change that right now. The world that our characters exist in is a fictional world that touches upon ideals and sensibilities of the real world, but we don?t like to mix it to any great level in regards to real people and real events. My feeling on it is that I have always preferred that the President in the DC Universe, if not one of our characters such as Luthor, be a character that reflects the sensibilities and attitudes of the current Administration, without ever featuring individuals in the books themselves. It?s just my opinion. I?m pretty comfortable with how we do it, and even though it seems to be the flavor of the day in a way, I prefer just to concentrate on the books we?re doing and the stories we?re telling now.***

FC is officially the most disapointing story I’ve ever read. After every issue I find myself saying “Yeahbuhwhat?”.

I’ve never read 52 or countdown or any of the other side stories to FC, but I hear even after reading them, FC still makes no sense.

Bring on the Black Lanterns crossover… without any Morrison.

Yeah, kind of, but there’s supposed to be a little more to it in FC 7. We’ll find out today. Its probably the rumor that has been out there and talked about a little in previous pages.

I’m really hoping the finale brings this story together, cause its a mess.

Ok so i just read Final Crisis 7

FC7

[details=Spoiler]HUH WHAT THE HELL???
Super-animals?
Batman is now in the stone-age?
Mandarkk and Ultraman what was their purpose in all of this beside being a final secret boss that doesn’t change anything?
5th-world what the fuck is this?
going to read it 5 times more maybe it would make some kind of sense[/details]

I just read FC 7. It’s a bigger mess now then from FC 6.

Yeahbuhwhat??!?!@$?

Grant Morrison has dropped down to the level of Jeph Loeb in terms of my most hated writers.

FC7

[details=Spoiler]
THE GODDAMN BATMAN, MAN! I knew he hadn’t bought it. I can’t wait for them to explain what exactly happened and where exactly he is. My two theories are either:
A: Supes wished him back using the Miracle Machine or,
B: Batman took advantage of being trapped in an entire factory of FUCKING CLONES (why didn’t I think of that before). He could have either managed to program one to pull off his plan for him, or switched bodies with one at the last minute somehow.[/details]

Like most issues, it took me at least two read-throughs to appreciate this book, but I think it’s a solid ending. Helluva lot better than Secret Invasion’s ending.

FC: Revelations is the best tie-in book I’ve ever read for anything ever. It’s better than the main event. If you haven’t read it, do it.

I’m not a huge Morrison fan, but comparing him to Loeb is ridiculous. At least Morrison understands how to write actual character drama and development, instead of simply relying on dumb action and shock value and complete out-of-characterness.
