DC Comics Thread

Didn’t Superman also encounter the Daemonites? It was like a mini-event that DC never pushed to sell comics for whatever reason. Deadman #1-4 in DC presents was awesome, weird that DC pushed him during Blackest Night/Brightest Day and then he is suddenly dropped.

But yeah why the fuck is Rob Liefeld writing comics? I was going to hop back on Hawkman until I saw his name. He have some kind of bird fetish or something?

Lot of books need help, I am fortunate in that more or less the Batman line of books are pretty good and it’s what I mostly read. But I want to read others, only some shitty aspects hold me back. I WANT to like Superman but the only books with him in it worth two shits is Action Comics and Justice League lol.

Rock the latest Detective got a new writer, still Finch art but I think the story is 90% better than when Finch was writing it as one big villain clusterfuck. It has potential to get better now.

Need to catch up on Wonder Woman, neglected. Also Mera is still my favorite female character and Aquaman is SO FUCKING GOOD, everyone read it! Black Manta is the SHIT!

Wonder Woman is fucking great, she got the best traetment out of this whole New 52 thing IMO.

Now if we can get Finch off art duties I don’t think there is much of a blemish upon the Bat titles.

Happy it’s Snyder and Cap, personally.

Just watched Mask of Phantasm. Great stuff. Has the character appeared in comics and speaking of Wonder Woman what’s a good comic of hers to get into now?

Mask of the Phantasm is probably my favorite Batman movie. I loved that movie as a kid and I still love it as an adult. It pretty much hit all the prerequisite high notes I want in a complete Batman story.

I don’t think the Phantasm has been introduced in the comics, although what the hell do I know about the New 52?

I’m pretty sure the Phantasm was inspired by the Reaper character from Batman: Year Two by Mike W. Barr and T-Mac. That comic sucked, though. I don’t recommend it. At all.

I still don’t know if I can think of a definitive Wonder Woman story. I always liked The Hiketeia by Greg Rucka and J.G. Jones, though. I actually just ordered Rucka’s entire Wonder Woman run in TPBs recently, so whenever they arrive I’ll get a chance to read it. I’ve always heard good things about it and I like Rucka quite a bit. It’s pretty tough for me to think of any good series starring superheroines, but if anyone could pull it off successfully, it’s gotta be Rucka. He made the Renee Montoya Question pretty sweet, and his Batwoman run in 'Tec was exceptional. A lot of his creator-owned stuff features female leads, too.

The other standout Wonder Woman story I can think of is that one arc in JLA by Mark Waid and Bryan Hitch. I forget the title of the story, but it was the one where the Faerie Queen of lore enters our reality and Wonder Woman is basically sleeping beauty or something.

I also thought Promethea (before the comic got all metaphysical and complex) was the idealized Wonder Woman-type of book.

Nah The Phantasm has only popped up in DCAU comics and shows, shame since I as well love the character and think it would be a good fit.

Batman #13 gonna be hype, glad Daniel isn’t writing it. Someone told me it was probably planned from the beginning, hence the scene and set-up in Detective Comics #1. Then Batman Annual #1 gives a few hints, pretty sweet.

Sensei: Wonder Woman’s current comic is fantastic and a great jumping on point, I also find her interpretation in Justice League entertaining as well.

Personally I don’t much care for wonder woman, I tried to like it but it’s a forced affection I have towards it…not terrible but just not what I was hoping for. Anyways out of all the new 52 books I’m collecting I would say 30% of them are truly enjoyable reads. I was surprised voodoo was given a sole run and not surprised to hear its getting canned since at best her character is only relevant in a supporting role. Batwoman is a book I really enjoyed in the first few issues but man it crashed hard in terms of quality and all in all just feels very messy and out of place with the bat family…I’d prefer it get canned at this point in favor of a better character.

He-Man!

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!

Oh and other stuff that is good: Swamp Thang, Batwing, Detective Comics (Debatable).

I liked He-Man. For some reason it reminded me of the start of a bunch of JRPGs which is a good thing. Not crazy about the art but the character designs are okay so I can deal since I like the story.

I like Tan’s art, but that is just me.

Dat fight

Spoiler

So if Adam the normal Woodsman human can make Beast Man look like a bitch, how the fuck will he deal with the eventual return of He-Man, AKA Mr. as strong as pre-crises Superman? I smell a Beast rug in the future.

Detective was meh.

John Layman, CHEW!!!, is taking over for Daniels on 'Tec. I don’t have a link but it’s out there. Would love to see batman take on a cannibal villian 1st arc

Official, with the artist I enjoyed from Batman Annual.

Im a noob to comics, but im starting to get into them. Both DC and Marvel.

Just bought Final Crisis, gonna give that a read through soon

Prepare for confusion and head scratching, or brilliance. Whichever side of the fence you find yourself on.

Are you talking about after reading Final Crisis or about getting into comics?

Mostly Final Crises.

Not to double post but this is kind of important, interview with Scott Snyder regarding the upcoming “Death of the Family” Jokerthon.

Amazing artwork on Batman this week. I think I can hang with whatever insanity Snyder throws at me thanks to the pencils.

I really enjoy the art myself, I know some rag on it but to me, it looks pretty nice. That issue was a great end to a story, and I liked how it answered questions yet still kept a small inconclusive detail. Final page of the main story was tits.

Lol at Batman & Robin, Damien is a little firecracker and his story is turning out to be fun. The other story point was…decent I guess? Some aspects felt off to me and very random. Nonetheless I liked it.
