Knew they’d cheap out on this and make it someone nobody cares about.
Go a post up, or the entire thread in GD, lol.
Caught up on most Bat titles. Nightwing, Batman, Dark Knight, and Detective Comics. I hope Joker’s “Return” is saved for Snyder, out of all the writers he is handling reintroductions with the care that’s needed.
Read all of Stormwatch, actually enjoy the series and the large scale events that are taking place. Hopefully Peter Milligan can stay on for a good bit and flesh these characters out, maybe make Engineer less of a bitch and dig into what Jenny did to Midnighter.
What a coincidence. I just finished rereading all of Stormwatch last night, too. The good version, written by Warren Ellis.
But I’ll check out Milligan’s stuff at some point because I’m a whore for him.
Mention of Gotham City in this week’s issue of Smallville woot woot! Just in a news report that said crime over there is up 10%. C’mon criminals let’s get that up to another 80% so we can have Batman in the Smallville-verse finally now that the comic doesn’t have to worry about stupid WB / DC embargos.
Jack Napier or whatever Joker’s name was before he became Joker in Smallville land, what the hell are you doing? Get to robbin’!
Oh Zephy, never cease to sass me. Check out all of Stormwatch you might enjoy it, but yeah Peter Milligan starts on issue #9 onward.
Caught up on Batman & Robin, Damien is all scaring me now, kinda faltered in the middle of the arc but picked up pretty well I think.
Picked up; Action Comics, Detective Comics, JLI, and SWAMP THANG for DC this week. Also is anyone reading Batwing? I wanted to see if I could just jump on at issue 10 and be ok since the previous art is rather bleh.
For reals, though, the Ellis Stormwatch is so, so good. I forgot how good it is and now I must sing its praises.
It’s enlightening to go back and reread those comics. Even though the earliest issues are from like 1996 or 1997, the style of them is so modern. So many superhero comics of today just feel like offshoots of that style. Pick up just about any other random superhero comic from ‘96 and you can easily see how dated or piss poor that era generally was. But pick up an issue of Ellis’ Stormwatch and just be amazed at how people today are still struggling to write superhero comics half as good as those. Once Bryan Hitch began doing the artwork, it totally just stepped it up, too… You can see how the ideas just kept building up and the stakes kept getting higher and higher until Ellis had no other recourse but to create The Authority.
That WildC.A.T.s/Aliens crossover also deserves credit for being one of those crossovers that actually left lasting repercussions. Also, it was ballsy of Ellis to kill off half of Stormwatch in that comic.
That’s cool and I’d love to check it out at some point, but for the moment the New 52 comic is just easier for me and takes less time, money, and energy to work with.
I do like Warren Ellis though, him and Peter Milligan are probably my favorite writers across the pond. I think Ellis is from there…whatever.
Peter Milligan crossover bonanza! Stormwatch and Red Lanterns both written by him are having a crossover event of fun stuffs, Midnighter versus Dexstarr is reason enough to read.
In Batman related news I will main him in INJUSTICE, since he can bat-dropkick people.
Ellis’ Stormwatch is being collected in the Deluxe HC format, so experiencing it is easier than you think.

And you could probably spend the forty bucks or whatever it costs to buy those two books and then never have to read another superhero comic again. So, theoretically, reading Ellis’ Stormwatch actually will drain less money, energy, etc. out of your life than New 52 books.
(Ellis is from the U.K., so you are correct on that note.)
Pft, but I like reading comics, and Batman will never leave my life so easily lol. As much as I bitch I just enjoy the genre and mainly want to see it get improved.
I’ll look for Authority/Stormwatch stuff soonish then, I’d like to see more of the God of Cities and Midnighter.
Looks like the Justice League live action movie is happening.
Also, the New 52 redesigns for Apollo and Midnighter are terrible. Who designed those? Jim Lee? Was he trying to make 'em look EXTRA poofy or something? That’s messed up.
Bryan Hitch is rolling over in his grave.
I can never hope to match your level of hipster bitching, lol <3 you.
Swamp Thing was fucking Swamptastic this week, Anton is back!
JLA film is meh, I have little faith in them doing a remarkable treatment with an inexperienced writer and no director despite this being in development for “Some time” suuure. I’d like to see how Superman turns out first and if DC is even half-serious about this.
(Everything I do) I do it for you.
Finally caught up on everything I care about (Plus a few I don’t) in the New 52 world.
Hope Ressurection Man isn’t on the chopping block. Have no fucking idea how JLI ended up there, telling me more people are reading fucking Voodoo than that?
FUCK! Resurrection Man, Voodoo, and Captain Atom are the canceled titles alongside JLI.
Really? Res Man was good and JLI was picking up the pace, and I heard good things about Captain Atom. Why not let them breath, or break the stupid 52 books only rule? Also you can’t cancel one of the seven or eight Batman titles, or Superman?
Sigh This does upset me, I really liked that book and all the new ones will just get canceled as well.
Now you can know the pain I feel, waking up everyday, being a Joe Casey and Peter Milligan fan.
I get the feelign Demon knights is next
And I’m not surprised Voodoo got cancelled, after Marz left it was a mess. A bit shocked Blue Beetle hasn’t caught the axe yet, it’s fucking terrible and the exact opposite of anything someone a fan of Jaimie would want to read.
Snyder talks about tommorow’s Batman #10 and teases the reveal of the villain behind the Court of Owls. No real spoilers below though.

Peter Milligan has two comics running Chigga go read them lol.
Joe Casey no idea what he’s been up to, but I do feel your pain sir.
