I will be getting it
This far into the new 52…i kept on my pull list redhood and the outlaws, teen titans, justice league, Batman and robin and blue beetle…I ditched the other batman titles, ditched both action comics and superman…liked grifter and voodoo but story was to slow, suicide squad got lame as being a marvel thunderbolts rip off
I myself just finished reading the Annual and I was a bit confused to how they tied Freeze in with the Court of the Owls at first, but it made sense afterwords. I have to agree with AYO?! on his point that The New 52 have been extremely kind to the bat books. I feel one could almost say it was meant to be their main focus from the beginning.
So, nobody likes Supes then?
Superman has always been boring…its like a captain america comic book, they are cookie cutter super heros. You know exactly what your getting…i dropped him from my pull. by issue 5-6 ish of action comics and superman… its the other chars in his universe that make him shine and non were being used in ether…
so i went with sticking with justice league, were he is just a part of the story
His comics are always more miss than hit solo wise, I prefer to read him in a team setting unless a proven writer takes the reigns.
Monster you dropped Scott Snyder’s Batman? You are missing out mang.
i had a huge pull of marvel and dc…i have no place to put them all lol…i just figured i wanted 1 batman title and i went with batman and robin. i like all of them…Just think the court of owls thing killed it for me…i liked the fast pace of the dark night… shit i liked catwomen and grifter and wonder women…the wonder women surprised me that i liked them…
maybee ill have to go back and check the last few issues where i dropped it…just 4 batman titles was to much for me
I’m a Bat-Fanatic, the more the merrier. But on must have Bat reading I have Batman and Batman, Inc. down for people. I really enjoy the Court of Owls angle though so maybe after it dies down you could return, at least check the annual out though.
Hasn’t Thunderbolts been the Marvel version of the Suicide Squad since Civil War?
Superhero comics… You gotta love how incestuous everything is.
Check these out if you need some TPBs:
Like A Bird… by Steven T. Seagle and Teddy Kristiansen
Secret Identity by Kurt Busiek and Stuart Immonen
Red Son by Mark Millar and Dave Johnson/Killian Plunkett
Lex Luthor: Man of Steel by Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo
Joe Kelly had some nice issues of Action Comics. Check out Action Comics #775 (“What’s So Funny about Truth, Justice & the American Way?”) and #800. #775 is collected in the Justice League Elite v.1 TPB.
Joe Casey had an awesome run on Adventures of Superman back in the early 2000s. Most of it hasn’t been collected in TRADE, BABY, but they’re worth digging around the back issue bins. His last year’s worth or so of stories is definitely worthy of being mentioned in the same breadth as All-Star Superman. He wrote Adventures of Superman #588 to 623.
Also check out Alan Moore’s Superman stories if you haven’t already. “Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?” and “For the Man Who Has Everything” should be in the Alan Moore DC Universe TPB, Across the Universe.
lol i went and added back to my pull…added back batman, detective comics and darknight…i was only behind 2 issues each so i just had them added to my shipment
pretty sure as i think thunderbolts is like 150-200 issues in unless there was a suicide squad before this…then yeah SQ is a thunder bolt ripp off…
But hey im a deadpool fan and his design a troll rip off of deathstroke so …wade wilson slade wilson aint it , could be wrong but im pretty sure i read before deadpool was a deathstroke troll from marvel when they created him, his retarded brother i luv
The Suicide Squad is an '80s comic. It’s one of the most well-regarded DC series of the '80s.
well there we go we learn something new everyday
Man I love those old issues, Captain Boomerang is the shit.
Good, hope you enjoy it Monster, Bruce pulling out all sorts of new toys lately.
Ah New 52 Suicide Squad, what better way to kill a series than to have a writer on it who finds the original concept stupid and unbelievable.
What was the New 52 Suicide Squad like?
Pretty much the same, just with more zombies and less talented writing when I dropped it. Dunno what Raptor is talking about.
DC’s annuals this week were sweet. Freeze personality was chilling, Batman’s reveal of Freeze’s origin was ice cold, and it had Dick and Damian being all… cool? (I am so sorry)
Animal Man Annual was pretty interesting too. It had Socks, an old avatar of the Red in a cat’s body to protect Maxine for those not reading, telling the story of the last time the balance between the Red, Green and the Rot was disrupted and led to war. Pretty awesome Canadian Swamp Thing action – hopefully teasers of whats to come in Swamp Thing and Animal Man books!
