Anybody else read the great ten or is everyone still reading blackest night and brightest day? searched the forums an couldn’t find anything on them accept how bad someone thought the name of the characters were, which I have to disagree with except for accomplished perfect physician. that name is way too long and hardly rolls of the tongue. ghost face killer - ghost fox killer lol, but the name still sounds tight. anyway i am really enjoying the title just because i get to see how other countries are dealing with the superhero situation. Similar to marvels MI13 i get to learn a little bit about the surroundings outside america. Cant read blackest night or brightest day simply because I have read 52 and countdown and been disappointed. The title also seems like it should have came atleast a decade ago if not longer. I really would like checkmate to come back and glad to see legion of super heroes return.

I only skimmed some of the early issues of Great Ten, but I personally feel that reading the names in their native original language makes it sound less…ridiculous.

AFAIK it’s just a limited series (but i wouldn’t put it past Dan Didiot and an extremely high profile and possibly influencial James Robinson to saturate the GL franchise eventually becoming uninteresting)

LOL for me The only Good thing about WOTS 4 is that it’s finally over… Jeph Loeb’s Hulk run look better than Alan Moore’s best run in comics in comparison. Still

General Ross’ Fate again is redundant at least in OWAW his “fate” was honourable.

I HATED that they simply did away with the Bottle city of Kandor (it’s Mother premise) Since that was one of my Favourite parts of the ENTIRE superman Mythos. I’ll never forgive robinson for that.

Adventure comics will be re-numbering back to 500+ and thus will Feature the Legions Origin and/or one of their earliest adventures with it’s holy legion trinity (Saturn Girl, Lightning Lad, and Cosmic Boy) I saw a Young Kal El in there in costume (probably to tie up Secret Origin) but i hope I SERIOUSLY hope they DON’T call him “Superboy” it’s better if Lois was the one who named him “Superman”.

I finished reading GL#54,Atrocitus reminds of Venom,he dubs himself as protector of the innocent & unleashes his brand of justice not to mention that he has a liking for Mera.Anyway, this new enemy that is taking all of the entities away looks like Scar, however the question is what does he/she want with them. Also they gave hints as to who will be in possession of the entities, for the Predator(Love)it looks like a photographer, for Hope,it’s either Hector Hammond or woman in prison & the Greed(the big ass snake named Ophidian)will be found by Larfleeze.

Green Lantern has never let me down ever since I started reading it full force with the Sinestro Corps War.Oh BTW,the best thing about Blackest Night…the Sinestro face turn

No wonder every painting in the Wayne mansion looks the same they’re all the same guy lol

…why did this sentence surprise me?

EDIT: Need help identifying an issue/comic; this issue had Batgirl (Barbra) and Robin and there was a panel in which they were crammed into a box. Anyone know which book/issue this is?

I agree with you as far as Kandor goes. That was pretty cool. You think they’ll ever try to bring that shit back?

Valaris… I’m praying for a miracle that Didiot can see the light (it’s amazing that even with Spidey’s OMIT arc coming quesada’s still miles ahead of him) I dunno how much creative freedom they would give JMS but I hope they would let him have his way (except for deadlines of course) I would at least hope that there would be kryptonian survivors popping up every now and then either zod loyalists, neutral or new big bads with their own agenda…

I’m sure there will be. Although you talk of names and sadly I don’t follow. I’m still only a few weeks old into this again and names don’t ring bells with me quite yet.

yeah I hear ya… GL is probably still the best DC book out there right now.

@Rugal- Or they could show some of the remaining Kryptonians find a new home AWAY from Earth and all the BS and start a civilization there. Have you read REBELS by any chance?

Picked up Blackest night 7&8 (was still missing them), Superman/Batman Annual #4, Brightest Day #3 and The Joker’s Asylum: The Riddler.

I only read the Joker’s asylum so far but I sure enjoyed it. It’s…different than what I normally read but it was good different.

Tizoc… I Haven’t read Rebels yet but I hear it’s the Haven for DC’s sagging lineup of comic people all roled into one and I hear it’s pretty decent… we have Starro The conqueror (revealed to be a humanoid cosmic fascist rather than a giant sentient starfish), Thanagarians, Rahns, Braniac 5 (or at least a Coluan), and those slimy villains from Invasion (1980’s DC crossover) DC needs to properly Market their cosmic line up as well.

I also want to try out Booster Gold, they say it’s an unknown gem. Kinda wish it was an “Exiles” type of series with regards to reality/time jumping since the ending of 52 did put Booster in a position where he had access to those… But I guess he’s too busy with JL Generation lost…

And I agree with you on the kryptonian part… I almost wish the entire genocide was handwaved and the bottle city concept/status quo would be brought back.

Jurgens is writing BG, right?
Still got nightmares from his Thor run, dear god that was awful (atleast Disassembled was there to bring me back my faith in Thor’s comics)

Jurgens was writing Booster Gold until Keith Giffen took over.

I dunno i’ve read good feedback about Jurgens BG anyway it’s HIS creation so there’s a certain love for BG from him (I guess)

Still Keith Giffen now with Booster would probably be a Beast (with minimal Didiot participation of course) all we need now is proper marketing

@Rugal- By bottle city do you mean the Kryptonians would get shrunk down and live in a bottled city? While on the one hand that does make it safe for them, but I feel that just the quickest way for them to be safe.

Keith Giffen is writing Booster Gold ATM, but his early adventures don’t have to have anything to do with the current timeline, just think of them as what if stories.

NNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO
Cameron stewart isn’t going to handle the art in ROBW #4, godammt he is one of my favorites in the business

I wouldn’t necessarily have them put back in the bottle again since especially during these times post WOTS it would seem like an asspull, but I dunno I loved that concept in the Weisinger days and I felt the city shouldn’t have been enlarged this soon… it kinda worked pre-Infinite Crisis where the “godfall” story arc took place in Kandor but of course all the other Kandors are probably retconned out now…

Maybe if not a bottle city, a safe haven, place only superman knows where… Hmm… I guess it’s just one of those things that I would have “One-More-Dayed” back into “not having happened” and they all remain in the bottle city… I guess…

Well I hope he churns out something like maybe what Morrison tried to do with the animal man and doom patrol but with proper financial backing… I mean if Sinestro can be beefed up from a potential GL Jobber into something comparable to Magneto (if not surpassing him) in threat level. then a hero should be eligible as well, since it’s potential cashflow.

Anyone here read The Shield series that came out last year by DC Comics? It looks rather interesting, just curious if it’d be a waste of my money to track the issues down though.
