another dystopian future (days of future past) setting?. last series I saw it was done at was Heroes season 1. It’s tricky to pull off. anyway we’ll just see now won’t we…
I Heard JL Generations lost was good, it seems DC is building up Max Lord as a major DCU villain.
I have 3 words to say about War of the Supermen-
Fuck this shit.
On the other hand Streets of Gotham (Damien, Colin and Impulse should make up the new Teen Titans), Booster Gold (fuck the Keith Giffen haters) & Brightest Day 2 were quite entertaining.
Legacies was quite Good although IMO it should’ve been given a “Marvels Project” Grandeur Treatment with lots of ads since this is basically a potential starting point for interested readers… (hey The Kuberts and Len Wein were Top Tier names but it’s a shame DC always has the syndrome of not well-advertising titles that’s good.)
Really appreciate it but my comic store ordered extra and will have one for me next wednesday (if you paid for this one though I’ll paypal you the cost).
What do you find wrong about war of the supermen?
If it gives me a little background on the world I’m good. I’m looking to just get a general idea of the DC origins. That’s good to know, thanks.
I just don’t like how the Kryptonians get killed off like that.
They went from 100k, to 80l and now only 7000 remain. I just don’t like how this quick killing went on.
Ironically enough, I’m a huge fan of Morrison’s X-Men run, he killed 16 million mutants in 3 PAGES. Whether it’s my Morrison fandom (or bias maybe?) or just that his run on it and the reason for all those deaths made a good read for the series.
However with Superman’s case, it’s just going back to square one. It would’ve been best if the Kryptonians just went to live at another star and/or be depowered.
Nah it’s cool. I always give out candy and any extra comics I have to kids on Halloween. A lot of times during the year I buy comics I already have so I always have extras… A lot of those variant covers psyke me out.
I’m lucky enough to have a gem of a comic book store. The owner was nice enough to track down issues from last year’s Free Comic Book Day for me. No charge. It’s how I’m getting Blackest night #0.
War of the superman is probably much worse than the much defiled “Our Worlds at War” and even “Death of Superman”. I will say that it’s Premise was Interesting (when it was still new krypton… the one Johns did) but the execution is fatally flawed, it’s basically one Wall-banging after another. General Lane being not dead is an Asspull, lol it would be hilarious if he was another Rulk (just kidding) Superman not even being in his own titles for a year?? it’s like saying Pay DC $2.99 for each cake which is acutally fruit salad TWICE every month. It almost look like it was a pathetic mockery of the Siege Premise Indirectly. (lol don’t get m started about the “Fridge logic” behind supergirl’s survival, and how they completely “hand-waved” all of it. As long as they kill all the Kryptonians they’re happy with it)
Sadly War of the Superman is IMO even worse than Loeb’s current Hulk-run (which I admittedly enjoy on some degree)
About Legacies, it was decent, and Len Wein is a good writer, but I Feel something of this scope should have an equal footing with Brightest Day. but that’s just me
I suppose being pretty much new to everything gives me a different perspective on things. Hell, it’s the first time I even see General Lane.
I totally see your point regarding Supergirl though.
Does anyone know if the Green Lantern: Emerald Warriors series coming out in August is a limited series or a full on new series they’ll be doing for years?
post lunchtime edit:
Just copped Green Lantern corps #48, Green Lantern #54, Return of Bruce Wayne #2, DC Universe Legacies #1, and War of the Superman #4.
