All from IL- Fuck it I say we just make due with who goes and form a team when were all there at the place it’d make the most sense.
If I run Brawl (pretty damn big if), I doubt I’m including items. Even if I didn’t play Melee for how long now, no one can agree on what items to use in Brawl and that pretty much kills it for a tourney coming up in a couple weeks. Also, I’d rather cut off my own penis than run a tourney with randomly-spawning bob-ombs. I’ll play casuals with whatever as long as all players don’t give two shits about the outcome.
Its not that hard though to include “fair” items that wont kill you at 30%.
When I play with items:
I always turn off health items.
I turn off crates and pills etc.
Turn off mushrooms.
Leave on stuff like the sword and fan.
Leave on most of the guns (i turn off the firework gun its a little too strong when it hits).
Turn off high explosive stuff like babombs and the starfox bomb.
etc etc etc.
Basically any item thats too deadly and can kill and stupid low percentages i turn off.
I DO keep smash balls, assists, and pokeballs on. They are fun 
Ima have to learn Brawl while I’m there.
You wont be getting killed randomly in Brawl. Its not the same as melee. Even with exploding capsules and bob’ombs, their impact is lower and you wont be dying from them until 80-120% IF you happen to hit one.
ANYWAY, id like to run this brawl tourny with the SRK test rules on the side JUST to collect data on how its working. Thanks in advance for letting me do this. Its for the good of the game and finding the Evo ruleset.

Your call. In the mean time, I’m going to see if a few of my fellow smashers in town will help me in breaking the SRK test rules until DBQ BBQ 4. Believe me when I say I will be playing Sonic, Space Animals, and Marth like crazy in an attempt to break the use of smashballs.
Also, let me put this into perspective: I’ve never gone to Evo and said that the newest version of Guilty Gear should have Gold and/or console-only characters be allowed because they haven’t been tested. I expect people here to have the same respect for the Smash community (well, the ones that aren’t asshats). After that 60 page thread I just read, I apparently expected wrong.

For 5x5, there aren’t any character restrictions. Only for doubles tourney. So, if Team WI has 3 Kens, 2 Chuns for the 5x5, that’s okay (see Evo 2k2 5x5 for reference).
EDIT:
Had an idea that will most likely save time, allowing for more matches/games to be played.
Since we will have 2 DCs, with 2 converters a piece, why not run CvS2 on DC as well? It’ll free up more PS2s for doubles/singles/etc.
