Theres only 1 way to play Smash, the Jin way.
You’ll all see the the best level ever, the only level fit for competitive play.

i think you are using the work ‘break’ wrong. but, we would like it if you could show that what you listed and nothing else wa the only viable way to win. Sadly, due to you probably not testing too much out involving those final smashes, there are a lot of stage that counter those moves pretty badly. Some stages effectively nuetralize landmaster comepletely.
But as murph said… you dont ban because one character has advantages.
smash community can do what they want with their events. i cant stop them, nor do i want to. if people enjoy that ruleset more, good for them! have a good time! but a large group on srk wants more out of the game and so far it looks like we can get it.
Oh god so I should practice up a custom map of only moving platforms?
edit: this is in response to j1n, didn’t mean it to appear after Keits
I’ll allow it. But I really do think the game will turn into Tekken 4 with items and smashballs on. And the random-ass factor of forward-smashing into a randomly-spawning Bob-omb or crate in the middle of your move, no, it’s not broken. But it’s dumb on high-level play, and that’s what you HAVE to base everything on. Hell, I’m not even on high level play in Melee. I blow. But I know what is and isn’t good. You’ll see Ganondorf and DK eventually NEVER used, and I’m sure other characters will end up there as well eventually. You’ll see Samus and Zero Suit Samus players cry when they’re forced to switch their character mid-round 'cause of their final smash. However, you do have a point. Test until it’s broken. I just think it’ll end up like if we turned system direction on in 3S or custom grooves on in CVS2.
Also, I know more about Smash than anyone else in this thread, probably. That’s not boasting, 'cause I also know I’m not really all that good at Melee or Brawl, but it’s also probably the truth. Might be one or two people in here that played competitive Melee, though, I don’t know. If I ever tell you what’s up about World Heroes Perfect, I’m pretty sure you’d tell me I’m a retard. And you’d be right.

How do you feel about my suggestion about CvS2 being played on DC? That way, the PS2s are free for other tourneys/casuals, etc…
Arcade:
3rd Strike
Super Turbo
Dreamcast:
Marvel
CvS2
PS2:
3rd Strike
Accent Core
AHF/casuals for other PS2 games
Que?
I’ll back you.
Fuck that on so many levels!
Why? DC version, for all intents and purposes, is arcade perfect; even better than the PS2 port because of the lower-resolution (enabling the sprites NOT to look like pixelated garbage). See Buktooth’s posts in the CvS2 forums.
I don’t see why you’d want to play PS2 CvS2 when we’ll have 2 setups (2 converters per setup) able to run a better, more arcade accurate version of CvS2.
Hey what airports around? Major airports.
Yeah, CvS2 on DC there really is nothing noticably different if at all.
I actually like the DC version for said reasons.
Since we will be having enough convertors (mine work excellent with every ps2 controller i have tried) DC is fine in my books.
Dont worry Frankie, whatever controller you got should be able to work.
TarkanX: some sort of ft5 or ft7 event could be thought up between me and wes. I dono how much though. Should be fun and should be taped
Okay, so how are we planning on doing IL v WI v IA v MN? Round Robin 5x5’s? I’m lost. I know I was the one pushing for this, but I don’t know how to fit 100 matches in neatly anywhere.
EDIT:
Humbag + Me = 2 DCs, 4 converters, 2 VMUs, 2 MvC2, 2 CvS2. That’s plenty to get Marvel done quickly, and probably enough for CvS2 (we can use PS2 for CvS2 if we want 3-4 stations running).
ill try and make this …!!!..
I will tape this.
me and humbag have a fist of the best star glory match exhibition 3000 to finish.
Closest *major *airports are either of the Chicago airports, lol. There IS a Dubuque airport (i’m sure the three letter initials are DBQ) and there is also an airport in Cedar Rapids (CID i think) which is like 45 minutes away.
As for the state v state thing - if it’s only 2 states then it’s definetly round robin for every player on the team. Any more states than that would render that round robin format useless.
3 or more teams and we’d just have to do a round robin format where if a player gets beat - that player is out of the match, winner stays. So one person could theoretically play the entire tournament for their team, as long as they never lose (OCV madness). Then we still have a round robin format, just without players as a subset - the teams as a whole will be the set to enter into the round robin function.
A team’s player order does not matter and can be changed from match to match. Say, each team has 1 minute to decide which player will go next after the first match is over - if a team doesn’t have thier player sitting down within this time limit, that team loses the advantage of having 5 players and 1 player from the team is disqualified. and so on and so forth. This rule may not be neccessary, but gimme a break I just got off of work and my mind is still racing…
Does this sound legit to everybody? Comments? Suggestions?
Is there some way for each player from each team to play everyone, minus his own teammates?
Unfortunately I think that would be too time consuming unless it’s just 2 states.
We could do each 5 on 5 so that we randomly (or not randomly if you can think of a good way to choose) assign 5 matchups between the 5 players on each side, then have the winners from one state play the winners of the other state until all players from one state have been eliminated. That way, we’d have things settled in between 5 and 9 matches. Plus, everyone gets to play at least once.
For example:
State 1 = Players A, B, C, D, E
State 2 = Players J, K, L, M, N
pair up: A vs. L, B vs. N, C vs. K, D vs. J & E vs. M
say the winners are: A, N, C, D, M
then: M vs. C & N vs. A
winners: M, A
then: M plays D and D wins, so State 1 is the winner
I think the graphics are sharper on the DC version, than PS2, but I was going to request PS2, simply because I have an AE stick with a 360 that powers from the USB port on the PS2 =\ Anyone know if I can plug it in to a computer and laptop and still get power?
I’m all about it. Name your price and the number of matches you want. If you don’t want to handle it here, send me a PM and we’ll make it happen in Iowa.
P.S. What kind of sticks are on the arcade cabinet? Are they japanese style or American?
