Prizes:
60/25/15% from the pot. I’ll probably do bonuses of some kind, but I don’t know how much as of right now. I’ll try $20 per tourney to anyone outside Dubuque who wins, maybe another $20 for 3rd Strike. Also depends on if the owner of Comic World charges us for the room.

Rules:
3rd Strike singles
– 2/3 rounds, 2/3 matches.
– Finals are 3/5 matches.
– Double-elimination if 8 or more, round-robin if less.
– Winner keeps character, may change super-art.
– No Gill. Ya cheater.

3rd Strike 2v2 and GGXXAC 2v2
– Double-elimination if 6 teams or more, round-robin if less.
– One 2/3 round match per match-up.
– Stick with the same character and same order each match.
– One person from each team plays each other, then the other. If each team gets one win, the winner from each match plays each other for the 3rd match. (If A and B are a team and C and D are a team, A plays C and D plays B. If A wins match one and D wins match two, A and D play each other for the tiebreaker.)

3rd Strike States 5 v 5
– Round-Robin (each state will play each other)
– Normal team battle style (person plays until they lose, first team out of players cries)
– One match per match-up
– Team has 1 minute to decide who plays after each loss.

Super SF2 Turbo
– 2/3 rounds, 2/3 matches.
– Finals are 3/5 matches.
– Double-elim if 8 or more, round-robin if less.
– Winner keeps character.

– 2/3 matches (unless it’s round-robin)
– Double-elim if 8 or more, round-robin if less.
– No console-only characters (Shin Akuma, Evil Ryu, Orochi Iori, Ultimate Rugal)
– Winner keeps characters and order.
– Roll cancelling is allowed. Being a baby about it isn’t. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core
– 2/3 rounds, 2/3 matches.
– Finals are 3/5 matches.
– Double-elim if 8 or more, round-robin if less.
– No console-only characters, gold characters, or any other console-only bull. Nuts will be licked BY YOU if you try it.
– Winner keeps character.

Arcana Heart Full
– 2/3 rounds, 2/3 matches
– Finals are 3/5 matches
– Double-elim if 8 or more, round-robin if less.

– Winner keeps character and Arcana.

Marvel vs Capcom 2
– 2/3 matches
– Double-elim if 8 or more, round-robin if less.
– No multiples of the same character per team
– Glitches that make it impossible to play are banned.

I’ll probably do the order of the tourneys as:

  1. CVS2
  2. AHF
  3. Super Turbo
  4. MVC2
  5. GGXXAC Doubles
  6. GGXXAC Singles
  7. 3rd Strike Doubles
  8. 3rd Strike singles

I’ll try to keep things going smoothly. PLEASE show up by 12:30 so I can get things started at 1. We’ll only have until 8 or 9 with the place. As far as the flow of things, I’ll start one tourney, then once that tourney is halfway done I’ll get the next one started. Exceptions being the Doubles tourneys. Only other way I could think of would be Evo style where we do all the elimination stuff first and then do the placing matches (like Quarterfinals, Semi-finals, and Finals) at the end so everyone can watch. What do you guys think?

I can house a small handful of people. Floor space isn’t abundant, but it’s here for 8 or so. And this apartment is roughly four blocks from the venue. My girlfriend is out of town that weekend so we can play here after the tourney for however long people want. No drinking or smoking in the apartment and I’d prefer if no one urinated outside of the toilet. Call me picky, but I like the urine where it’s not going to offend me. Also, we have two cats, so if you’re allergic bring some meds. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Since everything will be run on PS2s, that’s pretty much all we’ll need. I’ll make sure to have as many TVs as we’ll need, 8 max.

If we end up doing a random Brawl tourney, we’ll have that covered easily as far as setups go. Doubt it’ll happen, but hey, never know.

Only other thing, possibility of a $1 cover fee to pay the owner for the use of his back room.

Equipment list (I’ll post if I need anything):
– Myself (PS2, three TVs)
– Faellie (PS2, little TV)
– Humbag (DC, MVC2, converters)
– Arsenal (DC, MVC2, converters)
– Murphy (PS2, TV)
– Keela (cabs, awesomeness)

(Edited in stuff)
– Added MVC2.
– Bumped ST up to $5.
– Maybe $1 cover fee?
– Put in equipment list. I’ll post if I need anything, going to talk to the players here first.
– ST will be run on Versus City cabs. MVC2 on DC.
– Side tourneys possible for VS, KOFXI, SSBB

alright, sounds cool. i’ll have to see if i can get some other NE folks to come with me.
if you need, i can bring some ps2s and a tv.

Not sure what I’ll need (if anything) for PS2s and such. We’ve got a pretty good stash of 'em among the players in town. TVs, I’ll be fine on. But I’ll definitely let ya know if we need anything.

And if you can bring others with ya, that’d be awesome.

hey hogosha (mike) remember me? we played ddr together a couple of times and posted on ddr freak together!

yeah i’m really into 3S now, i’ll definately try to come

dance dance you say? any good places in iowa? most of the cabs here have degenerated into shit. we had a brand new supernova for a whole week before it was resold : (

some hotel resort eventually got one but it has a really sucky pad.

Ill see what I can do for this.

If Klaige is down, I could probably beg him to help give me a ride over. Otherwise I’ma have to improvise.

Assuming FR doesn’t kill my funds, I’ll be there!

[EDIT] oh, and I vote AHF singles and teams, as well as GG teams.

I’m definitely going to be in attendance. Last time was fucking sweet.

I have to say no to Perkins after this one though. Please.

I’ll bring a TV and a PS2.

I say run Arcana, as well.

James, you need to come out so you can eat more run up Dusts. =P

yeah closest good pads near you are in Lincoln right?

In Des Moines i really recommend Family Fun Center/Pizza Palace since we have a dedicab that was originally Damien’s and we got. In Quad Cities area i have no clue haven’t been that way since i went to school there like 3 years ago.

I might know you… i play at the family fun on dodge once in a while (3S and guilty gear). you guys have a ton of makoto players out there haha

I’m going to try and come as well as maybe bring a couple friends.

So how about that NGBC huh?

Those run up dust days are over!!!

it’s quite possible, that place is my second home.

Dear god, I remember ya but I can bet money I wouldn’t recognize ya if I saw ya. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: That’s gotta be at least four years ago.

As far as Arcana, what all do I gotta do? Anything I need to unlock? Specific settings? I have it, but it’s as unfamiliar to me as Everest. I’d probably just do singles for AHF. GG teams sounds like a good idea if we got time.

Nah, Arcana’s good to go straight out the box. Default settings are tourney standard (basically 2/3 rounds, 2/3 matches). Just have to make sure everyone chooses AHF chars and not AH chars.

I say if anyone chooses AH chars, they automatically lose the game!

Damn April’s too far… can’t wait haha

Mike, as long you guarantee really cute Asian chicks to be there, I’m down.

Even if you can’t, you KNOW WI will be coming to this again.

Alright, what the hell. AH it is, but only singles. Doubles can be run if there’s enough interest and time. (And there’s always my place afterward if needs be.)

I did a little research at one point in time, but that was a while ago and I just wanna be sure on a couple things.

  1. I don’t need to switch the option over on the Options screen to Arcana Heart Full (or whatever it is), then? Just wanna be sure.

  2. Do people usually use a stick or a pad for this? And stick setup is:
    ABC
    D
    …right?

  3. I doubt there are, but any illegal characters?

Also, to Arsenal…I doubt it. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: She was there to play Crashman in Dr. Mario.

Double post for this, sorry. Just wanted to call attention to this part edited in. (Bolded the additions.)

I’ll probably do the order of the tourneys as:

  1. CVS2
    2. AHF
  2. Super Turbo
    4. GGXXAC Doubles
  3. GGXXAC Singles
  4. 3rd Strike Doubles
  5. 3rd Strike singles

What do you guys think?

oh snap, dat arcana. i’ll practice my lieselotte but since there is no arcana human competition here in omaha i’ll probably suck. gotta get some arcana casuals in before the tourney.

Personally, I favor the evo approach. However, the issue is, depending on turnout, 7 tourneys will take a long time. In fact, I’m not even sure 8hrs is enough for all those. I suggest we wait and get an estimate of how many are actually coming and go from there.

Furthermore, I suggest running SF3 teams after GGAC teams instead of after GGAC singles. This’ll avoid confusion in case someone has a GGAC teams and singles match at the same time as most GG players don’t play SF3 and vice versa.
