It would of if those games were actually good that Ono produced. The only time I would of be actually happy for a DS4 if Noritaka Funamizu from Crafts & Meister was the head of the project. That ain’t happening it is more likely C&M to team up with Arika and make a fighter with the EX characters.
Not gonna fire shots yet, but… hm.
And now… we wait.
Most people don’t care for Ono and aren’t brimming with excitement over SFxTekken.
I wanted it to be Niitsuma’s team…
If I ruled the world, DS4 would be 2D sprites with 3D model reference (a la Blazblue/KoFXII+), then they’d use those same 3D reference models for any crossover/recycle projects. But it’ll be 3D.
I’m already giddy in anticipation for Seth or some hack from Capcom to point out DS didn’t sell that well and it needs to be overhauled to “appeal to new players” aka lets scrub the game up and strip it of its identity and any depth so little Jimmy can jab his way to victory.
You don’t see bad players winning tournaments 3+ months down a game’s lifespan. The players who win consistently tend to be the better fighting game players and adapt regardless of the engine or system mechanics

This one’s for you original Darkstalkers team. This one’s for you Demitri and crew.
You deserve so much better then Ono.
VamSav=Best FG ever
Guess I’m the only person here who actually liked SFIV and Super. I don’t really care for graphics, either. As long as the games are fun and I can win with who I like, I’m always down. I’d just be worried about them gettin the style and pace down. Hate to be practicin Savior all this time just for them to remove or fuck up stuff like GCing.
All this though, is if I actually believed that rumor. I don’t, and I’m hear to tell everyone, *“Don’t believe the hype”. This “rumor” *is unadulterated bull shit! Just like all the other rumors. Let the media tell it, Ono been working on a new Darkstalkers since 08.
I’m honestly more upset than happy at the DS4 announcement. DS is a classic series, and now that Ono’s getting his mitts on it, the overall quality will no doubt suffer. sigh I miss old Capcom…
Do not want.
The source that they’re citing seems reliable. That’s all that we can know right now.
It seems too soon for a new game. Maybe because this came so suddenly, but if this turns out to be true, the pace they’re churning out games seems rushed (yes I do a lot of “seeming”).
If I do end up going to Comic Con this year (where, if true, it will likely be announced), I’ll wait until then to make any judgments. The world hasn’t ended for me, but I’ll be cautious. Not going to burst into a shower of tears yet though.
Just remember that “engine” does not mean “gameplay.”
Lost Planet 1 and 2, Dead Rising 1 and 2, and Marvel vs Capcom 3 all run on the same engine.
Using a specific engine DOES not mean it will include everything from the game it originated from.
Only spheres can be used as collision in that engine.
? Yes it does lol
I don’t believe it. “Relaible sources” said the same thing at last year’s comic-con…and said the same thing at the comic-con before that. Capcom aint makin no damn Darkstalkers or anything outside of their cash cows. These media folks see Ono troll with this shit all the time and now they think it’s cool, too. That’s all this is.
I’m just going off their claim that the source who leaked this also leaked RE6.
Alright, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.
If Darkstalkers is gonna come back it should push the boundaries of psychological horror. DS3 dabbled in this, the “War Agony” stage theme was remarkably creepy, and so was the Tower of Arrogance stage, the Fetus of God stage, Jedah’s ending… in my opinion the new Darkstalkers needs to be LOADED full of disturbing crap like that. Just go absolutely mental with the eldritch imagery, make it unsettling as all fuck to play, it’ll deliver a really visceral experience to newcomers and fighting game veterans. Darkstalkers is very horror-themed, but not very horrifying. Let DS4 change that and run wild with the grotesquery.
This will eventually lead to people getting their hopes up over nothing again, trust me.
I’d rather it not become too scary for people to play.
The more goofier and creative aspects should come first.
Maybe so. I’m going to approach this with the Buddhist mentality: expect nothing. If it turns out to be true and had the promise of being a good game, then what a pleasant surprise. If not, then that’s too bad. Just keep playing VSav and the new game if I wish. Setting myself up for disappointment or brooding over it isn’t going to do anything about the quality of the game and is just going to make me unhappier.
Just my approach.
I’m aware of how much that sounded like a self-help booklet.
I feel the DS series (past the first one) strikes a nice balance between horror and cartoon. Going overly-visceral would just give the impression of a Gritty Reboot.
