'Darkstalkers' trademark renewed

There are people of every skill level in all the gaming communities.
People come in and out of playing at different times and for different reasons.
Time in years spent ‘playing’ the game means almost nothing. Therapist went from never touching 3S to being one of the best Akumas in the US in like 1.5 years back in the mid 2000s.

It’s effort. That effort comes from how much you genuinely enjoy playing the game. If someone isn’t actually that into the game itself they need to recognize that and chill out. Accept they will never be able to compete with the guys that do and move on or just be content with that knowledge.

The Vampire port is the PSX version right? Isn’t that a pretty shitty shit port?

They have not said which version it will be. Although I’d imagine they would want to put the best foot forward and port the Saturn Version, at least if they are going to do online play, as well as gauge reactions for a sequel.

how do you know how many people still play? even just on PSN at nights, theres a good crowd, around 60-70 people online (not counting private rooms which dont show up on the list). generally the night crowd is better than the day crowd (ragequitters and scrubs ahoy). You don’t play anymore, so you don’t know.

now you just sound salty

Sho Nuff, you’re not as open minded as you like to think you are. You’re actually short sighted judging a game’s pulse based on a SRK board and saying a game is old and it’s too difficult to get into an old game when everyone is better than you or it’s not worth it because the scene is small or not going to be featured at tourney (playing for fun is apparently as dead as I thought, eeeeeeeeeeeSports). It’s probably easier to level up in the old games because most if not everything is already established and just a matter of research.

Everything takes practice, if you’d rather wait to start from a game that is new so you can pretend everyone is on “equal footing” go ahead, just stop with that bullshit and excusing a lazy mindset with “it’s too much work”.

Well, they already have the first DS on there, and it’s a PSOne port. I’d assume the same for VS/DS3 (although I could be wrong)

I also said that there are more on PSN. Read up, my man.

How? Just about every fighting game that was released on PSOne from arcades had missing frames of animation. DS, X-Men:CotA, SFA3, DS3…

And let’s not even get into the Vs. series games.

I never said that was me. I said I agreed with Tebbo’s sentiment, then I went on to explain the mindset of why people don’t play older games.

I just told Nick that i played MVC2, and I play 3S from time to time. I have no problem playing older games. Maybe because I grew up with them.

I’m judging a game’s pulse based on multiple boards, and streams (or lack thereof), and just general attitudes about the game.

Because I’m being optimistic and thinking it will be the Saturn port, just as everyone else should be!

Hope springs eternal…

Because most of the player base knows damn well that they’d never touch the money in an actual tourney. Unless you walk into everything with extreme confidence ( Like how i feel like i am going to body Shoultz sometimes, those are the moments where the games get close)

Vsav players aren’t the gods that you proclaim and this is no disrespect to anyone, but anyone and i mean ANYONE can hop on GGPO and feel that they can hold there own within a month of playing, against some of the best players there. Not winning but not totally destroyed. Its not mvc2 where 1 year of steady training can still make you feel a world apart. I played at CTF for 3 years before it closed and i probably won about 10+ games the entire time. And i don’t know how much you see of shoultzula, but he is almost always helping the scene. The only threads where i have seen him complain about new games are threads about Capcom making a new game, or old vs new type threads. Almost all other times he is helpful. What is the difference between catching up in SF4 and catching up is Vsav? If you are willing to learn you will learn the game. Both games have accessible scenes with many people willing to help. We even have a section on dustloop. You can buy an arcade board to load onto your computer to play on your CPU. Which is accessible as fuck. The Vsav players are willing to help, all it takes is a question, we have information evereywhere. Why are you trying tp scare people away from the games so badly? Aren’t you yourself an st player? You should know what ggpo is like.

Check the UMVC3 rage and then look at the sales data. Hypocrisy is alive and well in this community.

I’m a little salty at no xbox version for the new port. Discovered the series through the psp game, and my psp is busted so it would be a nice means of replacement since I love the series.(Yes I know of ggpo, computer is barely able to handle srk, so not really feasible for me personally) hopefully it sells well though, may make them decide to make a new one.

What’s the problem with the PS version? i would like to know if some VS vets are here, could anyone clarify this? thanks.

I wasn’t talking about VSav. I’ve dabbled in it on MAME, but nothing serious. As far as threads go, I’ve seen them being helpful.

As far as Shoultz, just about every thread I see him in has him bashing newer games in some way shape or form, or making threads about why nobody plays GGPO. Anybody that disagrees with him is immediately denounced as a troll, and he talks down about the communities for games he doesn’t like indirectly, which is my main issue with him.

I’m not trying to scare anyone from anything. Tebbo simply stated a point, and I said I agreed with him, then explained to him the mindset as to why people simply aren’t into playing older games. They may try them whenever they are sold on XBL/PSN. Some may leave, some may stay. It’s just how it works. I just said that people aren’t going to go through the trouble of emulation when they can play the games they want on the online marketplaces with even less effort.

No, I don’t play ST. I played HDR when it came out until SF4 hit, but I’ve never gotten into ST.

Animation ‘compression’ throws you off

also, dat “original character” feature… where you get to make a recolor. lol

Xbox360 can’t play PSX games silly. Also there’s that stupid “XBLA release first, or you can’t release at all later” policy Microsoft enforces to be anti-competitive

Capcom putting an already existing PSX port on PSN is more cost effective to spread more brand awareness for it even though it’s not exactly like we all desired - an online port. :frowning:

I know, darkstalkers withdrawals just seem to never end. Well heres hoping for a new one eventually.

Nah palette edits don’t bother the players unless they’re really horrible.

Again you lack knowledge of the series and the problem is more then the animation. In Japan vampire savior on the psx is called the ex version for a reason since this game isn’t anything like the arcade version.

Donovan isn’t in Savior.

wait so you aren’t the sho nuff on ggpo?

Nope, can’t take credit for that one. Bruce Leroy was taken when I joined.

wtf :frowning: he was in the picture they had for the article.

alright then, who’s the easiest to learn but still top tier

Well, if it’s DS3 instead of VSav, you’ll get to learn him.

You know what? Its nobody’s fault scrub bitches like yourself need shit like X-Factor to play fighting games because you don’t got the balls to play games that depend on skill and not comeback mechanics. Yet you act like a little baby whining that everyone who grew up in arcades and were exposed to the golden era of fighting games hates you. You whine and cry like a bitch that old school players are “snobs”. No, we are not snobs. We actually like our games with some skill and we would like to not have our hand held unlike punks like you. Sorry if we don’t jump for joy about a new Darkstalkers due to the fact that it will be most likely made with the post-2009 Capcom philosophy that all fighting players are babies and need their hand held as if they can’t pull of a fireball. Pussies like you are the reason why modern fighting games suck. No one is against making FG’s accessible. There’s a big difference between adding stuff like in-depth tutorials and training modes (VF4 Evolution and KOF XIII) and hand holding (any Capcom FG that isn’t Tatsunoko vs Capcom, which was awesome). So you keep whining like a little girl while you struggle through your bad netcode trying to pull off braindead easy links and us real fighting game fans will go play our “old games”.
