Did it ever occur to you that the REASON nobody wants to play those old games is because A) Well, they’re old, B) The people that play those games have 10+ years of experience on them. If they get wrecked as is in the new games, why would they want to play older games and get absolutely destroyed?, and C) Snobs like you that feel the need to bash almost every new game that comes out, leading people to believe (falsely) that the communities for older games are all like you.
But keep calling me a troll for simply having a different point of view. I’m sure people will listen to you someday.
So even the JP PS1 ports were bad? Makes me wish we got a JP PS2 port for PSN instead. This could be good news though. The only possible direction left for an OE game has to be a PS2 version and there is no way that they didn’t notice people’s complaints regarding Third Strike’s problems. They already have multiple aracade perfect games and all they need to do is localize them(collection or the standalone game).
If they make a DS4 it’ll be on all next gen consoles and the PC which means I’m happy.
This isn’t “announced” yet, as it COULD be a PSOne Classic, since it’s only available on PSN for right now… Might change. If it’s a PSN exclusive though, it’s likely it’s just going to be a PSOne Classic… That’s unfortunate in every regard.
I still haven’t seen MvC3 though… What the hell’s that? I saw that Mugen thing a few years ago… And there’s TvC2 and Ultimate TvC2… Where’s Marvel 3?
It’s true. There’s not much appeal in playing a game without much of a scene to it.
Why else do you think Shoultzula is bitching and moaning that nobody is playing on GGPO?
If he was really concerned about helping people up their game, he’d help them out on what they’re playing now, instead of bitching and bitching and bitching and bitching and bitching about how newer games are supposedly dumbed down to allow more people to compete, knowing damn well he’d get run over himself.
It’s the game most people are playing. You know, the one you constantly whined about in the MVC2 threads when you kept losing.
and once again these are shittiest reasons imaginable. if you like the game, you will read, go into practice (easy to do with emulation + cheat file), play through arcade, read some more, etc.
then you will go and play with other players and get your ass handed to you. that’s the turning point. you can either be a bitch and complain or you can just accept that you’re completely ignorant and need some kind of guidance. 9/10 times you will get that guidance. it’s just a matter of proving you actually want to learn the game. if you can’t hang around and take your losses and keep trying, why would i spend any of my time helping you? so you can ignore my guidance and stop playing in a week?
you wonder why everyone is snobby? because of this exact situation being repeated over the course of years. at some point you become apathetic about new players until they actually show they’re serious about learning.
the part about experience and getting destroyed is laughable. you’re going to get destroyed in any game. you don’t think from day one someone like combofiend is going to destroy anyone but the top players in SFxT? The good players will always destroy you no matter how new the game is unless you actually put in the time and effort. that’s what separates them. they’re not there for the community, they’re there because they really enjoy playing and competing. if you don’t feel that way about the game, you will always be shit and you will always be destroyed by anyone who does put in the time. this is never going to change.
Sarcasm detector malfunctioning? I didn’t whine about losing in MvC3. I bitched that the stupid piece of shit game caused my execution to get fucked up, but it’s back now… as NickGuy knows from our little FT10 today. LMAO
MVC2’s scene isn’t large at all. Why do you think the MVC2 threads around here are nothing but the same few people doing nothing but trolling each other, with an occasional “good game” thrown in? Granted, the PSN thread is a bit more civil, but it’s just a bit larger than the almost nonexistent XBL scene.
Marvel 2 is dead, if not on life support.
As for 3S, it’s on its way out as well. Except for the few people playing on GGPO, 3SOE is becoming a wasteland. I played it yesterday and saw 4 (count 'em!), 4 lobbies, with about 2-3 people in each lobby.
That’s a very glib and uninformed post, but I guess I shouldn’t expect anything better out of you. The MvC2 scene is small, but not dead by any means. The active players still actively play, a side tournament is planned for Final Round, as well as MMs. I’d be going if not for some personal emergencies that arose, costing me money :(. We are always welcome to new people learning. You’d know if you’d give it a try instead of just making broad assumptions and whining about the game.
Just because you don’t see it streamed doesn’t mean it’s dead. There are still a lot of people who play it, and alot more who don’t even post on here.
i blame my stick for dropping 2 AHVBs in the last 10 seconds lol
YES! im really excited! I want to learn donovan. shoultz, will you teach me
I agree with you. He simply asked why people don’t play any of the older games or get on GGPO. And why would anyone go through the trouble of emulation when they can play what they want, in practice mode, which is EVEN MORE EASILY AVAILABLE on their consoles?
People are more inclined to play games when they can grow with the scene, instead of having to play catch up. Why go through the trouble of learning an old game that is most likely never going to be featured at a tourney? Why try to learn an old game where almost everybody is LEAGUES better than you are? This may come as a surprise to you, but not everybody learns by playing people 10x their level. Some people learn better by playing people closer to or slightly above their skill level.
Now read the part where I said “if not on life support”. I know people still play, it’s just that there’s very few of them.
And lol @ me trying. I played MVC2 quite a bit. Loved the hell out of it. Mained Gambit, Cable, Cyclops, CapCom, Guile, and dabbled in Cap, Wolverine, and Spider-Man. No need to act like I’ve never played the game before. I just don’t play it anymore. Big difference.
I go to local tourneys every Friday. I plan on experiencing Evo sometime in my life.
Also, this will most likely be the PSOne port, so enjoy your missing frames.
