even then, it’s still not capcom. i’d put them under Clover studios first…even though Capcom’s to blame for their death.
Capcom deserves to die for killing off the people that made Godhand.
Real talk. That’s exactly what I talk about when the gaming indrustry these days is a waste of time.
I believe .

But to respond to the haters, I’d love to see this series get the ‘2.5D’ treatment. That said, I share the same concerns with polygon counts for the fighters, and for the same reasons. The whole ‘arm morphs into X’ routine for an attack (I mean, try morphing a humanoid robot model into a spiked top, FFS) would either bloat the sizes of the models, require less variety in attacks, or force a quality drop in the ‘standard’ model (and Huitzil or Pyron realized in 3D would be godlike).
SF4 was a risk, and this too will be, but I’d have faith in Capcom to pull it off with at least modest success.
Wasn’t really saying it was from Capcom, just clarifying.
Industry is buns now a days, most of the renown companies have turned into shit now. Case n point: Capcom.
I chuckled when I saw this XD
If it’s just a graphical overhaul it gets then I see no reason why it shouldn’t work
Keep the familiar gameplay I say!
whoops my bad.
Capcom’s been going downhill after CvS2 anyways. That’s when most of the “golden day fighters” stopped. But that’s due to most of the people leaving the company.
It goes far beyond fighters imo, but if we keep it too just fighter then yeah.
oh well yea Capcom in general has gone downhill. Just wanted to stick with them fighters…
But games in general have gone downhill lately. Thank the current gen and it’s constant push to make graphics the main focus to sell to the new big casual crowd.
Yeah now you guys know why I play old shit all the time on my YT account.
No reason to play the new crap, no reason to buy the new consoles. Just a waste of time and money.
off-topic: Pretty much seconded, most of the games I was looking forward too turned out to be pure ass: NG2 and SFIV being the major reason why I dropped out of this gen. Only game that even peaks my interest is Bayonetta and I’m not gonna buy a console just to play one game.
On-Topic: Why not make a full 3D game instead of 2.5 D bullshit?
Back in my day we used to drink coffee while it was hot.
Well I have people that learn and play the stuff with me so I can get away with this.
Besides, back in the older days I didn’t know how to import and all that stuff; I also didn’t have the ability to make a scene, etc.
Oh I’m not poking at you for playing older games. I should really stop being vague but it’s fun that way.
I’m just saying romanticizing the past has got to stop. There are plenty of fighters that have comes out that are pretty damn fun even if you hate the more popular releases from last year. Then again I’m including arcade releases and looking at “this generation” starting from 2006 (that is when XBox 360 was first released right?).
I’ll be the first to admit that I rent most of my games because there are tons of titles not worth keeping these days but lets not act like the past wasn’t filled with a lot of shitty games as well.
Booms and bust cycle that every era goes through. It’s not romanticizing of the past, just disappointment in the status quo.

My bad. Bayonetta being made by the guy that made devil may cry threw me off. But yeah, I pretty much agree with the sentiment against this gen of consoles. It’s like the release of the PS3 realigned the stars in a way that made all the developers forget how to make a good game. True, good games are still being made, but their so few in number that I’m willing to wait till PS3 emulation comes out to play them.
On topic, I think I’m going to treat capcom like sonic now. I don’t trust capcom to make a good game anymore, so I’m just going to assume whatever they make is shit until proven wrong.
EDIT: @mIRC - while I do believe in the saying “90 percent of everything is crap”, this gen has been going on for four years. by that point last gen,*off my head" we had ninja gaiden vanilla, devil may cry, grand theft auto 3, Gitaroo man, on top of the dreamcast if you count that, and etc. Now we have Bayonetta, Batman, Uncharted , oblivion, mass effect, fallout, and my mind starts drawing a blank after that.
Another sub here.
You may be right, DarkVoid seemed like it bombed…mediocre to bad reviews all around. Capcom put alot of time and effort in pushing the game too. So taking a chance on a DS sequel dosen’t seem so bad now
oh don’t get me wrong. i’m a person willing to spend money to try shit out. (and the fact most games push out a demo of some sort before release helps at times.) But lately my interest in most games outside of Fighters/Shumps have seriously gone down to the quirky titles that most mainstream cats hate (i’m talking simple shit like Dynasty Warriors, Atlus type games etc.) I guess you could put in Fighters too as people think it’s not a FPS lvl of gaming. (weird as it is…)
and this will help sell and make the game better how…? sf2: WW was not difficult compared to today’s games yet it’s still the most popular street fighter game ever. more people knew and played that version of sf2 than any other sf game. making the game difficult to play for the sake of making it difficult so you can point at others and say “scrub” is fucking stupid. people shouldn’t have to practice games like they’re getting a doctorite in college since there’s no future in it and it’s a fucking GAME! it’s for fun, so if it’s too frustrating to do simple things no one will want to play it.
there are already very simple games out. BB\sf4 are both watered down versions that a scrub can play and have fun with. If you don’t want to practice, play those games. Fuck if you really don’t want to train, go play mokey ball or mario party. Those games don’t take much practice and you can have fun!
I enjoy playing overly technical games and prefer it if this game wasn’t watered down so scrubs can play. Every game doesn’t need to be brain dead easy, some people prefer a challenge. If you want to step up to a big boy game, you better be ready to fucking practice. You shouldn’t take a complicated game and dumb it down for the sole purpose of bringing in new comp. VS was designed to be a games for pro’s, it should stay like that.
if capcom wants to bridge the gap between pro\scrub, thats cool. They sure as hell shouldn’t do it to every fighting game franchise they own. Fuck ass scrub friendly sf4 already exists, leave VS alone.
nah, not true @ all. ST, overly complicated with very small windows yet extremely popular back in the day. Alpha 3 was one of the best selling SF games of all time. Again, overly technical but people won’t play it right? even though 10,000 japanese players flocked to nationals? FUCK, you go back to games like donkey kong\ pac man on arcade and those games are RETARDED difficult. Magic drop 3, cult classic is VERY difficult @ high level. Fast paced twitch game. How many people pump quarters into manic shooters because of the difficulty? and chess is VERY hard to play but no one would play either right? because that shit has been around for hundreds of years.
There are people who prefer a challenge. Is it the majority of the community, probably not and thats probably why sf4 sucks. No one wants a challenge. Everyone wants to feel like the champ and if they get to do “cool” looking things, its 1 step closer to feeling like a champ.
Gotta agree with shoultzula here.
Especially in light of how Darkstalkers/Vampire is a series that is pretty much a “for fans only” type of series. Sure, they could water it down, but for what reason? Morrigan and her crew aren’t nearly as iconic to the general populace as Ryu and his dudes. So you’re already standing to sell such a game to a decidedly smaller and “hardcore” base. And if you make too many amends to try and attract outsiders, well, then you’re at risk of losing that “main audience” that would stand to appreciate a new game the most.
So, yeah. SF4 and any other games that it could inspire? Let THOSE be the ones that could cater to a larger audience, because SF has that much more in the way of appealing to such. But a new Vampire shouldn’t have to follow suit, because it can’t be expected to do as such.
