Darkstalkers Revamp SF4 style! Player feedback needed!

But that’s the thing. The chances of that happening are ridiculously low. Its like people just suddenly forgot what happened to the gaming industry.

Yes we all know it would be common sense to just take a good example and bring it into a new generation. But we also know that people can’t leave shit alone; the vast consumers of today are not of our mindset and the chances of getting Vampire akin to its former quality are slim. A new Capcom fighter should not resemble SFIV in anyway, shape or form. Its been over a decade since fighters came into their own; we should be moving forwards, not backwards and there’s more to next gen than just making everything in 3D and paintbrush strokes.

Why do people assume that the graphics in DS would have the exact same graphics as SF4?

Ono has worked on many games. They don’t look like SF4 at all.

SF4 graphical style was chosen as a throwback to old SF games.

New DS graphical style will undoubtedly be a throwback to old DS games.

SF4 fighting system was a throwback to old SF fighting systems.

New DS fighting system will undoubtedly be a throwback to old DS fighting systems.

Anyways, this is all conjecture. Saying no to a potential new game based on a guess as to what the graphics might “maybe possibly” look like or what the engine might “possibly sorta maybe” play like is ridiculous.

Anyways, people who like fighting games should offer their support for a new DS here: http://www.capcom-unity.com/ask_capcom/go/thread/view/7371/18569387/Any_Chance_Of_A_DarkStalkers_HD_Remix_Capcom

This is whats wrong with srk, you have 20 people bitching about graphic design. That shit doesn’t even fucking matter. It could be HD stick figures and you could STILL make a great fighting game. Engine mechanics are what matter most and I don’t think ono\capcom will do it right. They’ll water it down to sell more copies. Their current business model is terrible for the hardcore crowd.

I remember when ggpo started opening its library of FBA games and VS was one of the earlier ones. The room was pretty full like 20-30 on a regular basis. As scrubs figured out that the game was super fast and beyond technical, they all quit. I doubt capcom will let this happen with a new VS\DS game so they’ll probably try to bridge the gap again.

Yeah, nobody plays VS because it’s just too deep for people. Same thing with War Gods.

spoken like a true scrub. You’ve probably never played VS against a beast before. This is one of the HARDEST fighting games ever made and thats exactly the reason why people don’t touch VS. 90% of the people who touch this game in america never pick it up back up because of the difficulty level. If its so easy to play, lets play right now. I’m on a pad and I doubt you’ll be able to take me out.

I’m on ggpo playing and have been since the game dropped, I know what scrubs complain about. Where the fuck are you with all you knowledge on this game? you must be a hidden VS pro right? The link timing, the combo’s, the alpha counters, the push blocking are all very tight windows for the most part.

3 biggest complaints about VS on ggpo are, I cant move that fast, I can’t react that fast and I can’t execute the shit I need to. All 3 of these things are scrub turn offs. The only people that stay to play this are basically players who understand what it takes to be good and then they go practice.

magman wrote a good post a page back. He played the game a lot on ggpo when it first dropped and he was pretty good.

Point went over your head but I’m entertained.

oh right, this is srk. People just post and don’t practice. I completely forgot about that. So instead of arguing with your dumbass, I’m going to step my game up.

Doing a dark stalkers in 3D is going to be kinda hard. Much harder than SF4 and heres why, the characters are constantly changing. For example in SF4 you have a model and then you just animate it. In DS, take Zabel, the zombie fuck or whoever and think about all the shit he changes into (buzzsaw, blades, and so on). Each character would require a ridiculous number of models. A lot of the DS characters do this too, making a remake in 3D totally shitty to work on.

pretty sure it still went over your head there.

This is capcom. they never really “stick with the original mechanics”. it’s either a throwback style gameplay that’s not really it (ala SF4) or it’s a complete new system. Which in turn doesn’t draw in any players.

I think the fact someone brought up the DS series on Capcom Unity probably got newcomers who don’t know anything on the series to go look it up and try it. While others probably don’t care and want more SSF4 info.

what they should do is just make a new DS game, make it in HD 2d (or…3d if people are so crazy for it.) and just have the VS mechanics worked in. Not many really got that deep into VS (including myself…and I wouldn’t mind working on my Q-bee anyway.) but it’s not like many people played VS that deep to begin with so no one’s really missing out.

what are you talking about, I block all over heads.

you guys aren’t making any sense.

Are you sure those aren’t just the same things you would hear from anyone starting a new game and quickly bumping into the top players with few around their own skill level to practice against?

I reckon it’s not particularly a difficulty issue and more to do with the fact that the GGPO population is a small one seemingly mainly compromised of OGs, personally I think this is good for trying to level up fast, but I can understand some getting frustrated when getting chucked straight in the deep end.

I reckon a new Darkstalkers with VS mechanics would probably work out pretty well simply because, being new it would get a bigger audience and people would have a chance to go through the lower levels of play and learn the game at their own pace rather then, in essence getting dumped at the last level armed with a toothbrush and a frozen herring.

That said I know most of the people on GGPO in the VS room do seem very helpfull and willing to teach newer players stuff (I think Kajoq was my first opponent and he helped me learn most of the basics and a lot of the Lilith stuff I’ve been using) , but some people just don’t seem to realise that taking a load of beatings is something that will happen when starting a new game with a smaller community and get butthurt over it before leaving.

It’s not the game that’s the problem so much as newer players unknowingly throwing themselves in the deep end and being suprised when they get knocked around a bit.

Then again I would like to point out that I am very much still a newbie so if there is some very hard basic which I should be doing but aren’t this whole post falls apart.

[Disclaimer]
I am in no way shape or form complaining about any of the things above, I am merely stating a possible reason why newer players may get turned off the game rather then it simply being “Too hard”
[/dsiclaimer]

I’d love to play some VS on ggpo/2df, be warned, I’m scrubby
Which version is used? Vampire Savior 2?

Here’s a good idea. Not have Ono produce the game.

Pretty much this, it’s like Capcom can’t even make games anymore wtf.

Nope it’s Vampire Saviour (Darkstalkers 3)

And yeah come try it, it’s pretty fun.

This is most of the problem with new people into fighters. Either they can’t take the few beatings they get, get mad, and quit, or they don’t want to learn when they don’t get wins or keep falling for the same ole crap. I think most of it is due to the usual ole dead story of people playing fighters at home online. In the arcade, you think you’re good against these people you’re watching playing, so you chuck in those 25-75 cents to try your luck. You know the game is fun and you know you lost…but you want to keep playing.

now…I dunno what’s up with people. If they’re not winning off the break, they just get butthurt and move on…or Ragequit. Most of that problem is for the fact a lot of new fighters are possibly spoiled kids who aren’t used to getting the shit slapped in them as if they were killing people all the time in GoW/CoD/Halo. Yes there are people to help, but if you don’t ask for it most likely you’re not going to get it.

that’s the thing most new gamers getting into fighters have to realize. Losing = good. But because people don’t really want to “learn” their faults or be told they’re doing something wrong (and look wrong for doing it.) the result is usually them giving up or continuing to fall for the same stuff.

Take Bayonetta out of the equation and pretty much this… again.

This is pretty much why MvC2 is dead online for the PS3. I played my brothers friends(who are around the 16-17 range) and they were instantly calling me scrubby for using Commando/Cyclops/Sentinel. Now when i switched to Jill/Tron/Cyclops they still called me scrubby. Now i’m decent in the game and i know enough of the basic combos to win. So its whatever to me.

capcom didn’t make bayonetta.

Bayonetta was made by former Capcom employee’s.
