Alex stomp dudes at the swamp/smouldering were far worse for me.

Is Level 25 good for the 3rd Boss?
Depends on more than your level. Stat distribution, weapons, armor. Just try it and see if you do enough damage and if you can take the hits!
Mind you, with certain bosses (the tree, among others), you’ll find yourself doing more damage than you think, because of burst damage when things are destroyed.

Eh, just slap on a raw weapon or deep battle axe and r1 mash his face in anyway.
Trying to play a spell casting pyro that is pure Dex OR Str is pretty difficult in pvp. I made a dex pyro because I wanted to be efficient hurling spells , but there are very few boss/twinkling weapons made for pyro that scale well with dex that don’t need str to be efficient. You’re probably better off getting a str or dex weapon than finding something that also scales with fth/int. I’m currently using a chaos infusion, but I’m tempted to make it sharp just so that I can buff it with flame arc. I mean, what’s the point of having spells if you can’t even enchant your own weapon amirightguys?
And as a general rule, most non-buff spells have limited aplications in PvP. Yes, they can deal glorious damage, two Chaos Bed Vestiges kills just about anyone I meet in PvP, but the stamina cost is insane, has no hyper frames, and the projectile moves really slow. After throwing two I’m out of stamina, and my opponent still has plenty of time to drink an estus and push the offensive. Even with a sage ring, I get very little use out of such spells.
I occasionally watch Sky’s streams, and he got a 50 kill streak in a fight club with his “incomplete” pyro build yesterday. He had the demon’s fist in his offhand and was using gotthard twinswords in his main hand. So after the kill streak, he showed everyone his build. (he was 60 something) 30-something points into vigor, 15 vitality, 40 points in both Str and Dex and… 10 points in Int and Fth. Yes, he called it a pyro build with depraved-level stats on Int and Fth. His only 2 spells were flame arc and chaos fire orb. From what little I saw him play, he never used the fire orb spell. Seems like most people feel getting 40 STR/DEX and grabbing duel swords is the only way to be compettitive in PvP. OH!, and you need a fist weapon offhand in case you want to parry.
TL;DR: Pyromancy is pretty slow even with Dex. Spell flinging is very limited in the current PvP meta overall.
Having said that, I love my Pyro for just about every area of the game PvE.
Red Hilted Halberd is a complete scrub killer, perseverance is an extremely underrated weapon art right now, it counters pretty much every meta weapon.

You can even visually react to Ultra Greatsword swings and out-trade them, this weapon is absolutely nuts. I went about 18-1 earlier in a fight club I joined before a Dragonslayer Spear user got me.
Yeah the Perseverance skill is really fucking good. Manual hyper armor activation is amazing.

Fire up invisible body and hush and just run through the whole thing, maybe taking a free backstab>wakeup r2 kill on anything that drops something you want on the way.
Shit’s absolutely insane and as a second playthough I’m loving just being able to go “Nah, fuck that area, I’ll still take the items though” whenever I please.
Yeah, i used hush and invisible on my recent pyro build. I didnt even know hidden was in the game. lol. I never did anything magic related until now. Since i was doing an int/faith build, i figured id fuck with that wizard npc early on, and i was like, oh shit, hidden is in the game. lol. I dont know why i assumed it wasnt. I guess my focus was elsewhere. You can get both in like the first 20 minutes of the game if you just HAM run through.
My pyro build still didnt go as i wanted it too, but it was a learning lesson. Im at the final boss now. I’ll just wrap up this build tonight, and start a new one. I thought the chaos gem scaled with faith, but ASS infused with chaos gem was trash. I know the AS sword isnt that great, but its low cost to use, with only having to add 1 dex to it, and i can just pour souls into all other stats.
I think my next build will be built around estoc and rapiers. Probably another pyro build. We’ll see. I wish dark souls 3 had a boss mode. I wanna just practice techniques vs them, and have some fun.
The real issue is how to deal with Great Shields because lord knows you’re never going to land a kick when everyone lags.
Well, one kick isn’t a problem, the issue is greatshields take 3-4 kicks unless you have the rings on, and even then it takes 2-3

Regarding greatshields, doesn’t the guard break skill from straight swords deal with them?
No guard break ability is a one shot gaurdbreak. They just take huge amounts of stamina. Greatshields have so much stability that they can be ok. I THINK great sword class weapons with stance skill CAN guardbreak some greatshields with the Knight Slayer Ring on, but even then, if those shields are the higher end and fully upgraded, then it would still take two guardbreak attacks, which is a problem.
Still, if you do hit them with one, they will be lower on stamina than you probably so you might be able to take advantage of that somehow
I have a +10 Shotel in my off-hand second slot to deal with Greatshields.
They have no counter other than bypassing their guard, passive Greatshield play is literally impossible to punish in too many scenarios.
