Dark Souls 3: Prepare to Die Once More

Man being purple is great, you get souls off anything the host kills, some hosts start to trust you whilst you kill mobs waiting for them to run out of estus/walk near an exploding barrel/roll off the bridge in front of you, you can pick between the host and a red/blue to get your prize and you lose absolutely nothing if you die.

Just spent the last 20 mins browsing the internet and getting free souls (10k) at the end of the undead settlement whilst this poor sod cleared out the whole area including Hodrick before plunging attacking his ass just as he finished killing the red eyes knife guy in the building to end it.

Bought the game again. I hate Lothric Knights - can never sidestep them like in the videos. They always have a shield bash ready.

I don’t even bother fishing for the backstab vs them, just stay out of shield bash range whilst circling them and just punish attacks normally and if they turtle up just take the free kick to ripost.

Vs. knights, I just guard break them.

I dunno. I never really found them to be an issue unless it’s 2v1.

Two videos now. First a short dumb thing about being stupid as an Aldrichboy. Turn on notifications for that one.

Second, a video about how unironically wonderful it is when the host pops a seed and let you bring the fight to them.

Poor guy was clueless as to what i was trying to do. Ah well ! Good editing can save anything i guess.

Yeah, getting the hang of handling all these bigger mobs. Never played a Soulsborne game, so I’ve got a whole series of salt to spend.

If it’s your first Soulsborne game I recommend playing very patiently and cautiously. Patience goes a long ways in these games when you’re learning the ropes. Don’t be afraid to play lame and also cheese enemies.

C: You might be able to use it if you have deep knowledge of the weapon/matchups
D : Meh

So I tried the Homosword (aka Twin Princes’ Greatsword) in PvP today. I didn’t really experiment with the one handed version, the two handed version is an absolute beast. I’m only running 40 str/20 dex so my AR is only at 500 (as opposed to the 625 from my BKGA), but damn does this weapon have a really good move set. The R1s are relatively fast and have decent reach, so hyper armoring through attacks is relatively simple. The R2 has a wide attack arc and is very active, so you can catch people trying to roll around you if you bait a whiffed R1. The stance R1 is fucking GODLIKE. While it doesn’t do huge amounts of damage, the damage is very respectable and the speed of which the attack comes out is very decent as well. It is VERY easy to punish slower weapon whiffed attacks with the stance R1. On top of that, the weapon is great at catching people rolling away from you if you can predict the timing correctly. Normally after hitting someone with an R1 R1 combo, they will want to roll away from you to reset momentum, but with a stance R1, you can catch them during their recovery frames of their roll and dish out respectable damage. It took a bit to learn how to play the weapon, but I’m liking it a lot for PvP.

The only thing I don’t know how to deal with are people using Great Shields with good one handed weapons. Breaking their guard seems very difficult, and kicking them if they’re fairly laggy never works either. Hrmmm…

Lol homosword

Black Knight Glaive having a L2, L1, Spin to Win Weapon art as a legit combo for 1k against players is pretty neat. Can see why it’s so good.

Wonder what specifically separates BKG from other halberds with similar movesets

Black Knight Glaive can go R2 - R1 - L2 -R2 as a full stunlock combo for over 1300 damage. The reason why people use it over other Halberds is because it’s damage output is good in comparison to other Halberds.

I use the weapon a bunch, but these “combo” weapons need to be nerfed or some form of hit scaling needs to be introduced.

Reminds me of the early days of Dark Souls 2, when dual Caestus were high-tier because a single touch let you double-punch them until your stamina bar was empty, and a single L1 took so very little stamina. That was fun!

Duel Caestus is the reason I miss Power Stancing.

You can still powerstance Caestus, sort of. One of the boss soul weapons is a set of firefists that go powerstance in two-hand mode. I maxed’em out because 1) double-punching is still a lot of fun and 2) they were basically made for a Str/Pyro build.

On a sidenote, it is a little sad that they basically made Dex a requirement for spell-tossers who want to actually be efficient. I’m a pure Str/Pyro, and good lord spellcasting can be slow. Makes most spells useless for PVP.

Took 5 attempts last night but maaan, one-shotting the Ancient Wyvern sub-boss in archdragon Peak was epic!

I think those stretchy neck guys at Archdragon Peak are probably the most annoying in the game.
