Dark Souls 3: Prepare to Die Once More

Somewhere between 90 and 100 I think. Also had the Dark Sword at +10.

DARK SWORDS III

Seems about right for level. Hm maybe a lot of fire res helped? Seemed to hit pretty hard when I fought him.

Man Irithyll area doesn’t fuck around, thought I would be super cool dude bro after slaying the Old Demon King and that nightmare of an area.

But nah, this area is kicking my ass. Found a few shortcuts, bonfires, and beat up Alligator bro at least.

Yeah it must have. He caught me with that 4-5 hit combo and I was like “Oh shit, that’s gonna hurt.” Followed by “Oh, that didn’t really do shit.”

I was using Fallen Knight helmet and garb and Mornes gauntlets and leggings. They all have fairly good fire resistence. And the Dragons Crest Shield.

He didn’t seem to feel like a super threat until 2nd phase and that ridiculous 4-5 tekken bouncing combo. Felt good to beat him. I should try and fight nameless king but eh, after beating the game I don’t have much motivation anymore.

I like the way they refined weapon upgrades in this game. Just a few kinds of Titanite and slabs are actually pretty easy to come by too. I think I’ve found four of them already.

I didn’t even realize you couldn’t upgrade armor until about halfway through the game.

What.

You can’t upgrade armor this time?

That’s…

I do not know what to think.

That is either very lame, or very awesome.

I didn’t notice for a good chunk of the game. Don’t know if it’s just me but I think that says something. You can still upgrade shields though. I didn’t even bother til near the end of the game.

You couldn’t upgrade armor in Bloodborne either. shrug

I don’t really care, honestly unless you’re going for a tank build or something the only reason armor even matters is for special buffs and Fasion Souls. I didn’t even notice you couldn’t until I was well into NG+. That’s just more upgrade materials I don’t have to devote to armor, too.

I did not play Bloodborne.

Until they get a version out that has lower load times, I won’t bother.

Dark Souls 2 on console had horrible loads, too.

PC fixed that, thankfully.

Shame about the other flaws (frames, durability, internal logic, etc).

Besides the armor being like neither, does 3 play more like 1 than 2?

The load times in BB were improved pretty hastily with an almost Day 1 patch.

Dark Souls II on PS4/Xbone has the shortest load times of any Souls game. I assume it’s the same on PC, yeah. The durability glitch was also fixed.

3 definitely plays more like DS1, but it takes qualities from every single Souls game in terms of mechanics.

Yeah load times in Bloodborne are still kind of annoying but nowhere near as bad as they were upon release.

Yeah, at least they added the item descriptions in between loading screens.

Waiting for 2+ minutes just looking at the black “Bloodborne” logo every time you needed to warp was fucking abysmal.

I like not upgrading armor. Gives me one less thing to worry about.

Man, had to scrap my mage build and go to a Str/Faith build because my spells sucked ass for damage and I suck as a mage in PvP.
Any tips on mage building? I spent my points evenly on Int and Faith and still relied too much on melee weapons because my spells sucked ass for damage.

I’ve said this once and I will always say it: focus on attunement early. At least a little bit.

Later on you’ll get a spell that lets you swing a magic sword as if you had a melee weapon, it’s awesome and it’s a great new tool for mages. I would look into that, I’m pretty sure it’s called Flash Sword.

I still dont understand how to dash through mud…and nobody answers me on twitch

Equip any type of dagger and use the L2 button.

It even still works when you’re out of blue meter.

lol! Simple enough!

Even though im pretty deep in soulsborne I still dont really understand the calculations of stats. Im still trying to grind and build the perfect character and speedruns basically expose that I dont know how to play.

Or is it rather speedrunners have no concepts of PvE builds, or are ganks just generally more of an issue to deal with than bosses because of the randomized RNG?

I think im actually really good in PvE and not so good in boss fights, as I find Im usually the guy that lives with the co-op all the way to the end.

Mages are ass in PvP, so if you want to commit to that still for PvP reasons, I wish you luck. #TheStruggle
