Dark Souls 3: Prepare to Die Once More

There’s still plenty of players that preferred how Dark Souls did things over the sequels. There’s still an active community for DaS2.

The only thing I prefer is being able to level up at any bonfire.

So the real enemy in the Nameless King boss fight is the camera.

Phase one the camera is a bit problematic, yeah. The dragon is so huge but the real threat is Nameless King on top of the dragon… which is hard to see because of the camera.

spoiler tag probably isn’t necessary but w/e

Spoiler

While this doesn’t perfectly resolve the problem, you can lock onto the nameless king during phase one, which makes it easier to see what he’s doing. This can make it harder to hit the dragon though.

Spoiler

I found the trick was to stay unlocked and try and stay in front of the head, it’s what you want to be hitting anyway as you do the most damage there and have the most time to escape the fly-up firebreath attack it does

Got the claw, turns out it’s rolling R1 is an actual rolling crystal flash, Caestus just got the boot from it’s “I guess I’ll keep it on the left hand to parry” slot.

Can I get a quick rundown on how it stacks up, compared to part one?

I am guessing that the load times are a non-issue, on the PC?

Load times are short in the PC version.

Sweet.

With that out of the way, how does the game itself hold up?

The game is great. Bonfire placement is a little more forgiving so you don’t have far to go when you die at a boss. Bosses are overall easier, but you can still expect to die a good deal. I don’t like that they still haven’t added an easy way to compare gear stats. How do you go through this many Souls games and not have that feature?

I would say Dark Souls 1 is the harder game.

Took out the abyss watchers. Working my way through the catacombs of carthus now.

It’s always hard to say what the hardest Souls game is. I think its just whichever one you played first. I’ve been steamrolling bosses in DS3 but if this was the first one I ever played I’m sure I’d be having a much harder time. You just have to play one to “get” the series and then they all become much easier.

Objectively it’s without a doubt dark souls 3. Dark souls 1 bosses weren’t nearly as aggressive with only like Artorias/Orn and Smo matching that aggressiveness. It’s only considered easy by vets only because you already know what the fuck to expect in the game. People who started with dark souls 1 blind practically played all the way to Sens fortress not upgrading their Longsword

The game has to practically be Nioh levels of difficulty where every enemy can shit on you in a instant on a blind play through to match those vets standards.

Nah I’d say Dark Souls 1 was harder than 3.

Spoiler

The asshole bow guy ledge was narrower, the poison area was nastier and the tomb of the giants and the area beforehand fuck you worse than the catacombs ever will.

Hmmmm, id say dark souls 1 was harder. If dark souls 3 is your first dark souls, i could see how it would seem impossibly hard. The non giant sized bosses are fairly aggressive, and have some pretty wicked combos that will murder your life bar off of one mistake. The resident evil monsters are a pain in the ass. Those demon shit heads in the farron lake and other place are super aggressive, and will essentially run you down for eternity. lol

Dark souls 1, i feel actual levels were waaaay less forgiving. Like what was mentioned, navigating the tomb of giants could almost feel like an impossible task in dark souls 1. The game doesnt exactly hand you cast of light, or the lantern head thing that is found in the tomb of giants. Like a blind playthrough of dark souls 1 is super unforgiving. Thinking your good, until a mushroom punches you once and takes 75 percent of your life. lol. Anor lando was a mofo until you learn to run through it, and the bosses there im sure made thousands of people just quit the game. lol

The bosses in DS3 are much more difficult than the bosses in DS1 imo.
But i will agree that certain DS1 areas are much more hardcore.

I like the bosses of DS3 more. You can steamroll through most of DS1 bosses. Bosses like Pinwheel, the vagina dragon and Ceaseless Discharge were massive pushovers.

TFW everyone is discussing which game is more hardcore, and you never played one of them.

sadface

Anyway, Every souls game I “have” played (2,BB) the hardest part was the DLC. Like the demon rapist ponies that come out of nowhere in DS2. shivers So I expect the DLC to follow suit.

After the giant in ds3, whose a decently hard boss, the bosses turn up the ante a lot. Like god damn

Favorite souls games in order.
This is my opinion so don’t shit ur pantz.

  1. Bloodborne

There is something about this game… It just sticks with you. Game also introduced me to the world of Lovecraft which i’ve trying my best
to catch up on. Also the game has my favorite combat system in any of the souls games. PVP was great but vials were too much and there was a lack of variety.

  1. Dark souls 1

I think it’s funny how from never managed to make their enviroments as interesting and different as they were in the first Dark souls.
Isn’t much to be said except that this game is the golden standard when it comes to creating a world you could lose yourself in.
PVP was great when it wasn’t “broken”

  1. Dark souls 3

The best PVP and online functionality to date in a souls game. Good variety when it comes to builds/customization and so on.
Bosses are some of the most challenging ones so far. huge replay value aswell as there are 3 endings in total which is really great.
The only negative i can think of is that…it’s not as memorable as DS1? i guess… lol

  1. Dark souls 2

"one step forward, several steps backwards"
not gonna bash a game i spent like 400-500 hours in tho… It’s a really good game but really lacking when compared to other games in the series.
