I’ve just been using the Grass Crest Shield and if I need to actually use a shield I’ll switch to the Kite Shield.
Yeah, just grass crest shield for me. I dont give a shit about shields except fashion souls, which i dont really do.
All you need is like the grass crest shield, then a default smaller good for parrying shield, and call it a day.
I used the same shit in dark souls 1. Im still navigating dark souls 3, so maybe one day i’ll find interest in an ng+ build. Unlike dark souls 1, you dont get a lot of shit early in the game. Like you can level up fast as shit in dark souls 3 for weapons, but i dont know, i felt in dark souls 1, in an hour you could have some pretty good shit if youre running through quick. You get stone armor in that game in like the first 30 minutes. Let alone the possibility of a bk halberd drop in the first 10 minutes.
Still loving some dark souls 3 though.
Haven’t really used shields in these games since Dark Souls 1. Unless you’re going for a tank-like build, they only weigh you down IMO. Most of the time I just like to play Souls games like they’re Bloodborne.
Grass crest is always a good choice tho, even if you just keep it on your back dat stamina regen is pretty godlike. Stack it with the Cloranthy Ring and you’ve got a shit ton of stamina to play around with.
Speaking of which, what rings do you guys wear? Right now I’ve got the Life Ring, Covetous Serpant Ring, Estus Ring and Knight Ring. I have Havels ready to replace one when I feel like using Yhorms Great Machete so I don’t slow my roll.
I use Black Knight Shield as my main shield, but will switch to different shields if I need more resistances.
Carthus Milkring
Carthus Bloodring
Obscuring Ring
My fourth changes a lot, but it’s usually between the Knight Ring, Untrue Rings and Cloranthy Ring.
Richter of Arabia has bested the caged Darkwraith, toppled the mighty Stray Demon, fought back the legion known as Deacons of the Deep, and had a duel of fates with the Abyss Watchers to come out on top.
I was hella surprised I beat Abyss Watchers in only two attempts, I’m happy with how I am improving in DS games and having a blast to boot.
Dark Sword 4 lyfe, now to fight ninja skelly men.
Deep Battle Axe is perfect as weapon for miracle/magic users. Hella damage and no real stat requirements. I +4’d mine to beat the Dancer before Vordt and now I’m in too deep with it and don’t know what weapon to move onto yet since I still don’t know what stat to pump between STR/DEX/FTH/INT in the mean time I’m at Farron and the deep battle axe at +5 is fucking up PvE and PvP. Dark is strong in this game.
I just used a 100% phys reduction shield until I got the Dragon Crest Shield and the lightning/magic ones later. 2nd playthrough I went Flamberge with nothing else equipped.
I’ll probably start a 3rd playthrough when I figure out what I want to do. Though I might just re play DS1. Are there still people on it?
So considering I’ve used a homeward bone like once this first play through, trading the Coiled Sword Fragment for a Titanite Slab seems like it might not be the worst idea. Especially since I can get another one fairly easily in NG+.
Well its not like Homeward Bones are even expensive.
Yeah even if I don’t use them much I tend to carry eight or so if I get stuck or need to jet back quickly.
Took down Wolnir and got those sick demon fisticuff gauntlets with flame LARIATO!
I don’t care if they suck imma rock this weapon.
They look badass but end up being just plain ass, fist weapons are the worst they’ve ever been right now, only redeeming feature is that the caestus has a decent parry in your left hand.
Exactly. The sword fragment provides a solution to a problem I don’t have. But it seems like there are a lot of slabs in this game so maybe I’ll hold off.
I use the silver and gold covetous serpent rings, ring of favor and Havel’s ring.
Damn DS1 runs so shitty on my PC. Can’t even lock in at 30fps, unless I have to mess around with some things, but I shouldn’t have to.
Download DSfix.
The PC port of DS1 is awful, youll want to download and install the DSFix for it. Then it run like a dream.
I guess they delete your stuff after so long or something? I remember getting far enough where I could enter the first DLC area, but I think I was still too weak. 12 hours logged in it says. Ohwell, fresh start will be nice. Looks like the online is still active too as well as the discussion on steam.
