One theory I saw that I really liked was the idea this was the beginning of a cycle instead of the end of one like the other games. Was a neat idea and tied into the Hier theme in an interesting way. Probably way off tho. I’d kind of like a Bloodborne type twist at some point in the game…where what you thought you where doing isn’t actually even close to what you’re really doing. I dunno how they would go about it with Dark Souls, but would be interesting.
On a completely different note, I wonder if they are going to give the Chalice Dungeon concept another try. I have to say, been playing through them recently for the first time since the first time and I’m actually have a good amount of fun with it. I think a big part of that is I’m not trying to rush through them this time, instead I’m taking my time, fully exploring, finding all the treasures. It also helps that farming materials isn’t as big a deal anymore since you can buy so many of them. It’s a fun little dungeon romp distraction, I’m really enjoying them this time. They are still quite flawed in execution an delivery, but I think that’s something that could easily be fixed if givin another shot in Dark Souls III.
I also really REALLY hope the Blood Gem and Imprint systems make a return.
Never bought a dark souls game ever, but im gonna day 1 this. Mainly because the other day i saw an awesome gif, and it was for bloodborne, but thats ps4 only. But i heard the combat in bb is awesome, and dark souls 3 is imitating some of that from bb. So that combine with the trailers got me.
I cant deal with an action rpg with shit combat like skyrim. I’m a big fan of kingdom of alamur, and the combat in that is good, so i dont wanna downgrade from that.
This is pretty much what I had in mind. I feel like it’s going to be a power struggle between various powerful souls for who will inherit the flame and ultimately become the next monarch. But since your character seems to be hunting down these heirs, it really makes you wonder about your motives as the player character. Super interesting stuff so far.
Can’t wait for this game. It looks like they are bringing back everything that was awesome about DkS and BB and leaving out some of the questionable stuff from DkS2
Think he’s saying you can count medium shields out of the parry game now.
Which I don’t believe for a single fucking second. It would make medium shields pretty much completely useless. Why would you rock a Medium shield when the Tall Shields have way better stability and generally have much better damage reduction and small shields can parry making up for the lack of damage reduction? You’d be setting for a middling defense option, the one that is good at nothing.
[details=Spoiler]-The game takes place in a land called “Lothric”, might be spelling it wrong. Possibly a combination of Lordran and Drangelic?
-Lord of Cinder gather in this land
-Bells of Awakening might be referenced
-A cult or group of people called “The Abysswatchers” now exists, seems to be inspired by Artorias. You can see the Abyss Greatsword at 1:45
-The person at 2:39 seems to be the player character, maybe even the same one you play as in Dark Souls II. The crown he/she holds in very similar in design to one of the crowns from DSII. [/details]
Long story short, I need this game in my life. Good thing Japan gets it a month before us!
Can you please spoil that Martian (your text I mean) some of us are trying to go in as fresh as possible. I’m workin REAL HARD to not watch that video for example lol.
Because it’s possible that large shield don’t allow the use of weapon arts. They might have a bash attack still? If that was the case then medium shield would be the only one that let you smoothly transition to arts.
That said, I also don’t believe it either. They only ever said some shields can pay and some allow weapon arts to be used while equipped. They never said only small shield s could do it
I highly doubt that, but whatever shields are for scrubs lol. I haven’t used a shield since I finished my Tank Play through like 3 years ago and I have a feeling I wont be using them very much in DSIII either.
If you werent a bitch and didn’t keep quitting every time you died you’d know Dark Souls has a shit load more colors then grey, but what can one expect from someone who cowers from challenges.
So is the Bloodborne thread crew all present? I hath returned from my Souls slumber.
I’ve been slowly waiting for this game…luckily there are so many releases happening this first quarter of 2016 that my hype has been evenly spread between them. What’s everybody’s first build gonna be, I have to stick to my tradition - first build is a quality build that prioritizes strength. I usually just rush for 40 STR(Or whatever soft cap is) and then balance the rest of my stats.
I really hope a Guts RP build is possible this time, weapon arts or whatever they’re called make it look possible to actually fight like him.
