It’s part of a questline, but you’d be spoiled if you knew more. I don’t think it carries negative effects other than appearance.

I just came across another mystery:

found a Firekeeper Soul, gave it to the current Fire Keeper, and now I can heal the “dark sigil”…but what is that? It’s expensive, and now that I think about it, the amount displayed suggests it isn’t a fixed value. Hmm…
By the way, I found a covetous silver serpent ring in the shrine thanks to a helpful message. And that bird is back (forgot its name), but I don’t know what it wants, if anything.
[details=Spoiler]I used a Great Sword so I had a habit of clipping the both of em. I also noticed whatever the Ghost did Sulyvahn would do the same thing as a follow up so what this actually does is stagger their attacks. You have time to hit one or the other before that particular one attacks again so choose one to prioritize.
I did notice that one of the safest places to be was right in front of the guy a lot of his attacks sailed right over my head. Even Gasa noticed it the one time we co-oped him (and lost). [/details]
The Dark Sigil is in one of your inventory windows, it’s a black hole in your skin that causes the hollowing. The Maiden can heal it, or a person tied to the questline can also do it.
I also found that ring thanks to that message. There’s a flask shard up there to which is nice. The bird seems to take some random ass stuff. You can give it the material that removes elemental enhancments from weapons and the bird will give you something. Just try random stuff from your inventory. If the crow doesn’t want it then you can just pick it back up.
Yeah, I figured out what the dark sigil was after I posted. I’ll try messing with the bird again.
So I’m guessing the Cleansing Chapel is a popular place for PvP. I keep trying to summon a dark spirit but it keeps failing. By the way, what’s special about a mad phantom? I’ve killed a few, but I’m not sure what’s unique about them as opposed to the usual red phantoms. I’m assuming they’re part of a covenant?

arguably the most iconic setting between all Souls games and said it was a place you could go to in DS3. That’s huge. Multiple people saw your post, now that surprise is forever ruined for those said people when a huge part of the appeal in this game is discovering things like that for yourself.

The Dancer of Boreal Valley. This has to be one of the hardest bosses in the game. Even out of all the time’s I’ve helped people with this boss I think I’ve only killed her once. It’s crazy you can fight this thing so early in the game.
Anyone have any tips?
I love High Lord wolnir. Easiest farm in the game. Been farming him all day just bringing in the souls.
