Dark Souls 3: Prepare to Die Once More

Because all they did in DkS2 was shorten a match to 3 swings for non-large class weapons. Like, there’s no chance for variety unless you are just already EXTREMELY good. Like, being better isn’t enough to beat someone who obviously has less skill than you but is a dark buffing chaos blade, you have to be way WAY better because you can’t ever take a hit

You should be trying not to get hit anyway.

Honestly, I can probably think of two dozen situations where you can be two or three shotted regardless of whether or not you have a buff. It’s always been that way with Souls PvP, just depends on the gear you’re using. People who solely rely on buffs to carry them to victory are never gonna be good players anyway, and I’ve never really had issues beating those kinds of players. It’s the people who know how to fight AND use buffs, that you should really worry about.

But at that point, it moreso lies in the opponent’s skill and not in the fact that their weapons do a lot of damage. I mean there’s so many different ways you can win with Dark Souls PvP, and personally I find it pretty hard to complain about buffs when keeping that in mind.

Don’t get hit, git gud.

In keeping with the theme of buffs, I found out today that the buffed Falchion is just as OP in 3 as it was in 1. Fun times ahead for sure. If you’re playing against someone who knows to look out for the parry and times dodges well, that thing will easily take out any build in seconds

Pre-ordered DSIII on PC, fuck it. I’ll see how it runs then I’ll decide if I want to refund it or not(probably going to get it on PS4 anyway, earning trophies in Souls games feels so good.)

So I’ve gone ahead and compiled a list of the bosses in terms of difficulty (the lower the number, the easier the boss). Obviously this is nothing objective, just my personal experience after going through the game twice. I will also be working on a few strategy guides for some of the bosses that I think may give some people trouble. I am hoping to have them up before the game releases in NA. I have put the list in spoiler tags just in case. However, there is really nothing spoliery about it. I am hoping people will come back to this after they have completed the game so we can compare. It is always interesting to see which bosses people had trouble with and why.

Eh saw that with a mate a while ago, list’s a bit shit tbh feels like a load of janky shit with the few legit good ones being in there by pure accident.

Like yeah some of the shit ones are creative, but in the same way that say, attempting to fight a lion armed only with a string of sausages is creative or in the way people say “Yeah that’s unique I guess” when they want to shit on something bad and don’t want to see any more of it but like the person who did it enough to not out and out shit on it.

Pretty cool I suppose; they were all DkS2 builds though. However, we all know the only two builds you need are a Sword + Board Holy Knight and an Ultra Weapon Holy Knight…at least those are my personal favorites. I have a thing for Knights I guess

After running some invasions, I feel like invasions are pretty weak in this game. Invaders aren’t totally fucked like they were in DkS2, but it isn’t nearly as balanced as it was in 1. As far as I can tell, equipment and stats get scaled according to the level of the person you are invading. So if I’m running in this game’s version of the Cat Covenant, the person I’m invading really has nothing to fear as I get scaled down to his level. It’s pretty lame, it seems as if the only PVP From wants is lame ass duels. Anyway, that is just a first impression and I don’t really know for sure what is going on. Hopefully I’m wrong

Huh? You just said it wasn’t balanced, and then proceeded to say that it scales yourself to the host, how is that not balanced?

Sorry I wasn’t clear. It scales you to the host and then gives you only a set number of Estus flasks and no humanity to use. Meanwhile, the host has access to all his healing items. In 1 you could heal as much as you wanted, it was limited only by the number of humanity you had, but no more, now you get a few heals and thats it. Also, the scaling thing literally defeats the entire purpose of the Cat Covenant. It just seems like From ruins every fun aspect of PVP with some sort of nerf

I feel like they just want to make sure that people invading are doing it for the joy of invading itself, rather than because you just want to kill other people

Wut. I only invade cuz I wanna fuck with others.
I don’t want no “honorobu duel!”

Give me my +100 sword of ass destroying, and let me set traps and shit, and lead you to a group of thug hollows.

That doesn’t really make any sense. I invade because I want to ruin the hosts day by any means necessary. The host needs to pay for going through his world in human form (especially if he is human in the area my covenant protects), and I am there to make sure he does. I don’t want an “honorable duel”, but that seems like the only PVP we are going to get at this time.

I could live with the whole scaling thing (although I think it is kind of dumb) if they just made it so invaders get the same amount of Estus as the host.

You guys misunderstand me. I’m not taking about dueling. I’m talking about how just invading AT ALL ruins the hosts day. By even presenting yourself as a threat, forcing them to use up consumables, time, and threaten them not being able to get their souls back is already something people dread

That’s what I’m talking about. If your goal really is the invasion experience then killing them or not doesn’t have to be the point.

All player to player interaction was, from the start, supposed to enhance single player. And guess what, invaders are a party of that, enhancing the single player experience for the host, not making it easy to get your rocks off with easy kills for the invader.

All of the changes they make to invasions support this too I think. Invasions and summons are not intended to be fair, they’re there to enhance the experience of YOUR game

Nonsense. I want to rack up kills, that helps my invasion experience. I never asked for easy kills, but invaders face such an uphill battle now. It was always a bit of an uphill climb, even in 1, but now it seems it is even more difficult to score a kill because of the scaling + lack of heals. This in turn means covenants will be harder to rank up in (and some will be rendered useless), which means not getting covenant items. You are making a lot of excuses for the changes, but the reason for the change is blatantly obvious to me: they want to make the lives of the host easier, so they aren’t threatened by invasions whilst funneling most PVP towards duels.

That’s where your wrong though, hosts ARE threatened by invasions, simple by the fact that they exist. Like, you seem to forget that most people you invade are not experienced PvPers and simply being invaded AT ALL makes people shit their pants.

As for the changes, it’s the same with fighting games, or even real life, you have to adapt to the rules.

It’s not excuses. It’s the way it is.
