I could not have asked for a better answer.
Yeah same here, thanks a lot Ajunta :). I’ll be testing these methods in training mode.
About the Twins though, I’ve never gone in to a match thinking “there is no escape” which is just ironic since Vega’s mobility is just amazing. Even with people spreading there knowledge on how to help to beat them, it’s still brown trousers time when you go up against Yun/Yung. But alas, I will adopt the methods previous spoke about to aid this match up :). Personally I think Vega as a character though just kills himself in this match up, like it’s not in his DNA to win it. But anything is possible.
the main reason i know the blanka matchup so well is because i mained blanka until c mode came out in vanilla.
I am a Vega who relies on my reaction and reading my opponent. I’m still working on my perfect 1 frame execution because Claw is alot of that. I get in trouble with the mix ups from Ibuki and the distance with Sim. I can’t get in on Sim and I can’t get up with Ibuki.
UGH! Kunai come from random direction and if i block wrong I get combo’d to near stun. If I get pissed enough I end up using the flips…then it’s over. Help.
The Dhalsim b.s…crouch heavy repeated 10 times, yoga fire, jump back, yoga fire teleport run away some more. I GOT IN! Anti-air teleport and the game resumes. I have patience but that match is really hard on my patience. >.>
I’m assuming by Blanka ball you mean his lp ball right? His mp/hp ball bounce back on block has been nerfed so those are easy to punish. Anyway, if you block a blanka ball (lp) standing (I’m not sure if it works on crouch block), you can dash up cr.mp him on his recovery. The timing is really strict but it’s possible.
focus the cHP ( i actually think the full screen arm stretch is sHP) or use cMK. pick U1 and nail him when you have meter and he throws a fireball or teleports. i actually stay full screen as much as possible and nail him with jHP/jHK when he trys to teleport behind me.

How do you deal with Cody? Im getting killed instantly when they get in on me once. I die for trying to tech most of the times. And when i stop trying to tech, they start randomly throwing. But when they make it in, I can’t shake them off.

Vegaman. You say Adon is a free win? Please tell me how to beat them lol. I played the best Adon on psn a few times and lost 4 out of 5. According to him, I am the only Vega to EVER beat his Adon lol. So whats your tactics behind this match up? He seems to find Vegas pretty easy.
I read the comments about how you can s.hk, c.hp his JT (didn’t know that), and about gaining air superioty. However, how? This Adon isn’t your typical Adon where you bait out a reversal RJ. He doesn’t use it, well he does when i finally decide to attack (I think he reads my mind).
As for footies, I get beaten by his jaguar knee?? move. And i think his s.hk beats a lot of my stuff aswell. Again, when he gets in, he does some ambigious cross overs, and can’t do much but block.
So any detailed match up advice would be appreciated for both characters!
Thanks in advance.
if you want me to go into detail either upload a match to youtube and post it in here:
or send me an inv on psn and let me see a recorded match on psn.

don’t sweat throws online. take the throw damage because it’s less than combo damage. block and wait for an opening or a mistake.

i dont really have too much of a matchup guide i go by in it. i’m more looking at player tendencies. if i see he loves to RJ i’ll do a hit or 2 then stop to see if he’s mashing it in case i drop the combo. if he jag tooths then i nail that. if he likes to try to do safe jag kick pressure then i space him out so that jag kicks whiff ro so that i can hit him on it’s startup usually with sHK.
if adon moves in on you you really dont have an option but to block. so block.
Im going to assume your psn ID is Vegaman. Will give you an invite in around 30mins. I got 2 of the matches recorded. One that I won, and one i lost lol. Not the best vega in the world… pretty bad actually. So won’t be pretty watching it lol. You can upload them on your thread if you want, I haven’t got the tools to do so.
See you in a bit.
EDIT - Friend invite sent
VegaMan_ lol
need an underscore
i tried adding abzddon and no psn is found
oO, who on earth did I add then lol.
and my ones Bangla_Bhai ;). Ill reinvite.
Don’t know if it was posted but if you stand right beside Yun/Yang and do a MK.ST it whiffs
There is very few reason to M.ST to my knowledge.
L.ST has same startup and hits people above you better than M.ST does.
H.ST starts faster and reaches out a lot more hitting people front very reliably and doing more damage.
everything M.ST does, H.ST does it better, and the few things where H.ST doesn’t perfrom L.ST will do better than M.ST
Don’t know if this has been mentioned. Ryu’s M.SRK is invincible (don’t know how many frames). You can’t freely jump on him any more, it’ll beat you clean. However, I think it starts slower than other srk’s, so you can empty jump and it gets blocked for a free combo. Not too sure on the start up time though, could just be poor reactions from the ryu players.
Of course his “nerf” to air tatsu has given him an even better mix up game… the match just got harder now. His cr.mk on Vega was never a problem before, it isn’t a problem now.
ryu L.SRK, M.SRK, H.SRK, EX SRK all have at least 3 invincible frames on top of having very advantageous hitbox/hurtbox ratio on the front and upfront sides until the apex of the move, lets call that ‘priority’ .
They all set up a juggle for ultra, even in case of ‘trade’
that has been such since vanilla, so there was never a lets jump free on ryu trend. Believe me jump on any decent ryu player out of the blue they will dragon punch you every single time they are not already committed into something else. jumping on people as an attack plan generally speaking is a bad idea, the only way you can get away with it is lag preventing them to throw the counter move in time or them having the reactions of a dosed snail.
Also,
cr.HP is another good reason not too freely jump on ryu since it is going to beat all jumps ins but early ji.HP which of course forces you into crouching light on landing since you ll land with not enough frame advance on block to perform cls.HP luckilly now cr.mk can 'true blockstring ’ after an early ji.HP.
and his cr.mk is a good reason not to try far jumps or early jumpin on him. early jump ins will whiff and far jump ins will either whiff or get stuffed. and you’ll eat a hado as topping for your efforts.
The only way you jump free on ryu is if you are at the perfect distance and timing to pull a safe jump on his knockdown, punish an ultra, exploit a dizzy or in most cases because you outwitted the player behind him at footsies.
If you jumped on ryu where your claw or foot was going to hit his head/ back of head; you would always win/ trade for more damage, no? Or have I been just playing against ryu’s that just complain for no reason at all about Vega’s jump in being unbeatable lol.
However, to be honest, recently the Ryu player told me about the m.srk buff, 6 frames of invincible frames or something. Can’t jump on him at all when he uses it as anti air.
As for Lag, I more often get hit by srk online then offline. I even tried to disprove the theory by going in training mode, and I kept getting hit by the claw (true story!). Only Sagats TU hits me all the time, and thus I don’t jump on them.
But when i said “freely” jump, i didn’t mean go jump all match. More like, if your in the right spacing and he doesn’t have a metsu, give it a go. You win on damage if you tried so no harm. Then you can get your spacing back. I could be really really wrong though. Still in the beginner/intermediate level after all.
can anyone give me advice vs akuma? once i get knocked down its pretty hard all i could do is block. what should i do if he spams air fireballs at me and what distance should i try to stay all match?
I try to stay mobile and use JMP a lot. I am no expert by far, but that is what works for me.
Its funny you mention this because I have been having a much harder time against Ryu in AE. I thought it would be easier because all the talk about his nerfs. Also, I still encounter more Ryus online than anything else, including the twins…I would almost rather face Yang over and over…almost.
M.SRK has always been invincible it has a lengthier invincibility than other versions, which makes it very easy to time appropriately. As said before if your game plan was build upon trying ji.HP >> cr.mk on the other guy until you hit confirm, you need to get your ass handed to you some more until you finally make the effort to come up with a more subtle game plan.
I have only one piece of advice, if you play against someone and you can freely jump on him because the only answer he has found is block, you need to kick him out of your lobby and look for better competition.
