Dance with the Claw: Vega Match-up Guide/Discussion

The Sim-Gief was only an example. But your point is that karas are player dependent, not character dependent. Makes sense.

Jam with the double posts.
Seriously though, Kara-throws are great on anyone as long as they arent doing Ume-SRKs and shit.

lol boss bay bay

Yeah… I guess Ryu with two bars would qualify as a no go for karas?.. Lol how badass would it be to kara daigo’s srk-ass ftw.

LOLOL I just want to help I guess.

Satyamdas sucks. I’ve come across him twice online and he seemed pretty free when I went Vega. Granted it was online play but if he plays the way he did against me offline, he’d still be free.

lol he kills me

Any tips? Maybe i need more Sim exp,

dont jump as much? I bet he started AA when you started empty jumping a lot more.

He usually yoga fires and comes to me with teleports and just has a really effective mixup game. On me at least…

Then he is IATeleport. That should equal a free air grab really. You see him tele-port jump and grab. He will stop.

Here is a cool story. Did you know that if he does that and you have Ultra thats a free Ultra? As soon as you see the teleport go to the nearest wall and Bluudy high Kluuuuuu!!!

then you can whiff iirc cr.lp and do a cross up FBA.

csb/thx

I do so love Bloody Haku! Good to know I can use it reliably in this match-up, thanks.

Got my butt whooped by Ryan Hart’s Guy today, and I’m going back for more tomorrow, hopefully a little bit wiser. Basically, it feels like whoever’s attacking is going to win this, and well, he got the better of me this time. I had a hard time interupting him whenever he’d start giving me dick, it feels like you end up right in the corner after one combo, while I was also struggling myself to remain in control whenever I was pushing the pace (I got interrupted quite a bit by his cr.mk sweep). So, how should I AA his elbow drop? What do I do to stop all his run stop-bullshit? How do I want to approach this match, what more should I look out for, and make him look out for?

I dont have alot of exp against Guy (not good Guys at least), but from what I know lp.RCF beats all the run options, and for the elbow there’s many options, FAing (not recommended if its from the bushin flip coz you’ll get grabbed), lk ST, s.Lp and s.HK. or you can backdash then CH if you see it coming.

Okay, today proved that Satyamdas isn’t free.

He beat Lamerboi and Grimmmz. C’mon that’s pretty legit…

And Lamerboi was extra lame too! Lol but man Grimmmz whooped my ass, i’m not gonna ask for tips because I know what happened. I botched a jump in, then boom SRK then he just raped my lackluster defense in the corner. Ugh…

I play Guy A LOT, but only recently with Vega. The one I play is pretty damn good, usually RTSD, safe run/slide, Elbow pressure and pushing in the corner for some ass kicking.

In this match up I really just work on a hit and run game, using Vega’s (More or less) superior pokes compared to Guy. St.FP, St. MK, St.FK, and Cr. LP into Cr.MP. It’s the usual bunch sure, but it really makes a difference here due to Guy’s lame poking game and it stuffs a lot of his options. For elbow I find Vega’s best options to always involve a FA backdash into either CH xx ST, St.FK, or Cr.HP (Situational). All options do pretty solid damage, it covers the bases and it gives Vega breathing room which matters a lot in this fight.

My main advice is to annoy, poke and run, hit confirm your combos (I can’t stress this part enough), and for the love of god don’t get cornered. Guy can stun you easily, deal massive pressure and I find him the hardest character to get out against honestly, there is just no escape in most circumstances.

Lol, I lost to satyamdas once online. Was really unhappy about that. I remember being so tired, he’d jump in and do dhalsim cross ups and I’d do nothing about it

If I play him again he’d get brutally brutally raped

I fought his Guy at EVO. He ended my 10+ win streak in casuals =(

I’ve been playing around with this Guile trick for a while, and it seems to be pretty failsafe for me. I might just be getting lucky, though, but I figured I’d bring it out here and see what you guys can make of it.

I’m basically able to stuff 100% of Guile’s flashkicks with a really early jump-in fp. Like, 100%. I haven’t been hit with a flashkick for ages.

I haven’t taken it to training mode to experiment, but being able to train a Guile not to flashkick basically makes the match nine thousand times easier. Lemme know what you guys think!

[also this may very well be common knowledge already. if so, sorry!]

The same trick beats cr.hp from guile since he has to do it early. although Guile can simply wait the moment before he is hit. So wfhat you do beats early FK’s and straight out beats cr.hp clean.

it is… but guiles air throw gives me more probs than his flashkicks. also… guiles that block give me actual probs… so i just sit back and focus booms to build ultra meter all day then nail him on a mistake
